Dropped. Based on the good reviews and high rating I have seen here I thought this drama is going to catch my interest right away and keep me engaged. But unfortunately I found it very boring. Maybe many more episodes later the story line will become engaging and keep viewers interested. But noone has the time to waste on a drama which is too draggy. This is a slow paced story with some humours parts and cringe slow motion martial arts moments.
Dropped. Based on the good reviews I have seen I thought this drama is going to be super interesting and catch my attention right away. But is super boring. I am not sure after how many more episodes later the intersting part of the plot line should start and keep the viewers engaged. This is a slow paced drama, with humours parts here and there and some cringe slow motion martial arts moments.
I would like to start by mentioning that this year I have learned to no longer be excited be for a k-drama just because of the main leads. This year I have encountered so many dramas which were looking promising because of the cast or the plot but ended up terribly because of the bad story telling. All the good screen writers in k-drama land have retired? Or nowadays they give a chance to any newbies without any decent background? I actually was surprised to stomp over more spectacular dramas with a less popular cast. Now back to the story of this drama. This drama isn't the worst I have seen. Is still decent, with a few exceptions: 1st - the unrealistic family setting. I don't think I ever seen in laws getting along so well together, especially those 2 jobless parents which were so pampered all the time, in real life they should get their a*s to work and not expect to be provided with food and housing and everything for the baby just like that. We know that in real families, especially in the Korean environment, they would get some looks and get judged every other episode. 2nd - those annoying kids and their st*pid relationship plot. The girl which played their daughter wasn't even that cute, but they were trying hardly to convince the viewers that her brat behaviour was cute. NO IT WASN'T! She was the definition of an uneducated, spoiled child who gets everything from her parents without having any sense taught. Kids that age can't be allowed to have phones and talk on the phone with their bf before bed. And the parents were surprised that they could never have time alone? They weren't even able to create a sleep schedule for their child. Most children her age have a bed time set up. 3rd - lots of plot holes, I couldn't even understand very well in the end what was the whole purpose of that organization. There were lots of "criptic" messages and conversations but we were always fed very little information sprinkled here and there. I understand that in a spy drama you are supposed to follow the plot and put the clues together. But this drama had no proper clues at all, and I have seen other dramas before with spy & mystery plot. But this one wasn't even making me want to theorise about what should we expect. 4th - the main couple where not communicating at all, not even after the huge reveal. I mean, c'mon! Any sane husband and wife would have a million questions about the whole thing. Overall the drama had some ups but also downs. So watch it if you like the cast, if you can oversee the parts I mentioned above (annoying kids and family dynamics, the bad comedic relief and plot holes).
I finished watching this drama expecting a typical C-drama ending. I just wish they would have given us a few more minutes and give a proper closure to all characters. From the pictures found online, there should have been some extra scenes. I hope they will release a special episode in the end, even 5 more minutes would be enough. They had to cut this drama from 58 ep to 40 which is already unfair. I think these Xianxia dramas should try to give us some proper endings from now on and not let things to the viewers imagination and with so many mixed feelings. Overall to me it was an Extraordinary drama, maybe the best this year. It brought many new elements in terms of costumes and settings. LYX slayed in all his outfits, TTJ will remain as one of the best dressed male characters in a drama for a long time. The cast was very well chosen and the main couple had the best chemistry. Pian Rian will remain my favorite side character and best fox representation I ever seen in a drama. I am also glad I discovered BaiLu, I will look forward to her future works. Now I hope I will not suffer too long from withdrawal syndrome after finishing this drama and I can heal soon. 🥲
I just finished it. I recommend it that after you start it keep going until the end.
Yes, he tried to negotiate with the remnants of the previous empire. Is not so clearly explained if he really wanted to save them, he had good intentions but I think his dad would have decided everyone's fate in the end. His brother set him up and killed everyone so he could get the Crown Prince tittle. If I remember correctly he was locked for 8 years (that's when he was already 18) because he didn't obey his father order of not to leave the capital. The prince's couldn't leave or return back if they didn't had an order to do so. The slightly annoying thing in this drama is that many aspects are not clearly explained. Some aspects of the plot are left to your interpretation, or you simply have to be careful to every detail and sometimes find the right interpretation. Both leads actually play a lot with their words and intentions are not clearly spoken. I think the situation is the same with the relationship between Ning Yi and his dad.
I am dissapointed that only 3 boys from the G group debuted. I am happy that Riki and Mathew made it in the Line-up. If Jay was there too or Keita it would have been perfect. I honestly can't understand how some of the K picks ended up in the final Line-up.
Chinese dramas can't have a Happy ending do they? Even those who somehow mimic a happy ending are not truly happy.Anyway, is a good solid drama. Smart ML and FL, great chemistry (but all for nothing), interesting political plot. Great acting, nice settings and costumes, great music and cinematography.Hated some of the side characters, especially that st*pid princess, i hated how lots of characters have uselessly been sacrificed in the end (some of the really didn't deserve it). This drama is for those who feel like watching something serious and want to be commit to one drama for a while.
Reason to watch this drama: The ML The comedic moments If you are into Fantasy genre There are quite many not to watch it unfortunately. I personally wanted to drop this drama after the 1st episode but I usually watch a drama for at least a couple of episodes before I decide if I should drop it. And after a couple of episodes it got better and I thought it had potential. It was funny for a while but too many silly, nonsensical stuff started to take over the most of the plot. But since I already watched too many episodes up to that point and it had only 12 episodes I thought I should finish it.The romance was unnecessary and the couple lacked chemistry. I didn't liked the FL character at all, just a fan which becomes a manager. She had no other identity as a character beside her "sad" past and her simping over the real WYW. The only character I liked was the Grim Reaper. Overall this drama is quite stupid. Wasted some time I will never get back.
The title of the description pretty much sums up the drama. 🤣I can't believe I have watched this whole dumb drama, tbh I watched it only for the Male Lead, it had good and bad sides and because it had only 12 ep. If it had 16 ep I wouldn't have finished it. And the romance was totally unnecessary, there was no chemistry and no point to exist. The FL, was pretty much a fan turned manager not to say a saesang because she wasn't that crazy.
This drama was saved in the end by the extraordinary cast and the action scenes. But story wise it left me with more questions than answers. Especially regarding the background and origin of some of the characters. Like how the Lust demons came to exist, how and who came to the conclusion that Wooyoung was going to be able to create a barrier and save everyone, what were her powers origin after all. That mysterious grandma identity, was she some kind of goddess? I got it that she was guarding Tamra, then why she couldn't create a barrier herself? What was the real identity of those stone guardians, which the grandma was calling them her children? They were all kinda old, they rather seemed to be some ghosts of the island. What was happening with all those people which transformed in Lust demons and were killed, no-one was bringing up the topic that so many people were dissappearing all of a sudden? No-one on Jeju seemed disturbed by the so many weird events happening around them all the time. And in the end who were those sages in white? Maybe most of these questions are already answered in the manhwa, but if you are just a drama viewer like me then many of the things make no sense. I was excited for this drama since I heard that KNG will play in it, this man has so many good dramas. But they literally wasted his acting in this. A good project which went drown the drain. I really don't want a season 2 to be made, I am not curious of what's next anyway, since this drama is only good at creating more questions than answers.
Loved every moment of this drama! It's a solid 9.5/10.It's a refreshing Xianxia, there is No boring episode, it's a journey through all sort of feelings and it makes you addicted until end.I loved the Cast in this drama, for me most of the actors in this drama were a new face, with a few exceptions but they done a Great job. And I loved the chemistry between the Main couples, two couples with such a good chemistry in the same drama is Rare to see. I loved the sisterly love, it is so refreshing and nice to see. If I would be to compare this with Immortal Samsara where we have the Lotus sisters, this one is definitely the best sisterly relationship I have seen in this type of drama.I was amazed with Landy Li playing, in some of the scenes she was so Real and Natural, especially in those heart breaking moments. She is definitely my new favourite actress in the Chinese drama land. Luke Chen is also very handsome a great actor. I couldn't believe it when I have seen that he doesn't actually have a lot of acting experience. I hope we will get to see him in more dramas as a ML from now on. This drama has many happy and funny moments, and this was the first thing which attracted me about this drama plot. And it was good humour, not a boring moment, a lot of comic relief moments: Wudai and the Saintness moments, Chaofeng and HaiChao bickering, the King and Queen of Beast realm relationship, the 3 Immortals games, Tanner tricks in the Heavenly realm, the list can go on. The FL (Tanner) and her sister Qingkui should be the Mold of what it means to build a strong, smart, courageous, kind and resourceful FL in a drama. Others should take notes.I loved the friendship in this drama, all the squad coming in to help each other anytime needed. The heavenly realm had so many refreshing characters, which often came in together for the greater good. Less pettiness is always welcomed.Overall to me this is the Best Xianxia drama I have seen in a while. No boring episode, no fillers, no draggy moments, no time has been wasted.
I am on my way to finish this drama but I have to give my review on the cinematography of this drama. Is very Visually pleasing and Calming somehow. Is like your brain takes a break enjoys pretty things. The OSTs are also pleasing to the ears, and quite calming. The CGI is definitely there but only decently and well used. I love the mystery part of the drama and it keeps you hooked until the end. The actors are all handsome, I can't stop gushing over Lan Jue with his hair down and also Shulin. They both look so Noble and Ethereal at the same time. The drama is not very high end with flamboyant suits but is really well styled and the actors make it look expensive. And the best part No stupid FL to ruin the atmosphere with her jealousy, immaturity or other useless cutesy stuff (tropes often used in C-Dramas ). For me this drama is at least a 9/10.

I was expecting a different king of ending for our dear trio.
I fell in love with Wang Duo acting.
