I don't know why the rating is so low. This drama is a solid 8 in my opinion. The cooking/food, the friendships and family aspect really made this drama. It was a bit cheesy at times but I was never bored.
I haven't been invested in a couple since the Corner's diary. I loved the leads and their relationship. I wasn't the biggest fan of the last leg of the drama, but it was still a decent watch. But I will admit I preferred the romance over the actual plot.
I seem to be enjoying this more than many others here, and I don't mind Victoria Song or the age gap either. And…
Meng Ziyi actually would have been perfect. I could see her doing fighting scenes and we already know her and Ding Yuxi have amazing chemistry after watching Love in Pavilion (Where there characters relationship; albeit brief was the best part of the drama).
Lower your expectations. 9 Episodes and the FL and ML barely interact. And I have yet to see any chemistry between the leads she's so frigid and rude towards him during every interaction.
FH did the 'enemies' part much more seriously than most long-form dramas I've watched. But ok, maybe I did not…
It's all subjective. The enemies part started off great but it didn't last long for me to take it seriously. It's my favorite trope so maybe my expectations are higher and I love a good slow burn. Slow burn done right is never time wasting to me.
Agreed it really wasted the enemies to lovers when it has such a good set up and start. There was so much opportunity…
Right! There was like seven episodes of them being enemies and then they became lovey-dovey. You can not reel me in with an enemies-to-lovers trope and then drop it 25% into the drama.
I really wanted to like this, but I had to drop. Purposely leaving people alive that want to kill you, just to stretch the storyline, is lazy, then we have the sister who has to be one of the most insufferable people I have seen in a drama. There's no way a man you met for 0.5 seconds and shows over and over again that he can't stand you makes you turn against your brother and country. It's 2025, there's no reason female characters should be written this way.
And another thing. For an Enemies to lovers drama, I felt like the romance happened way to fast for me personally. I felt like more trust should have been built. The chemistry was there but I would have wanted a more push and pull dynamic before they finally realized there feelings (The prisoner of Beauty did it perfectly).
This is one of the best dramas that has come out this year. 10/10! I came into this drama assuming it was just going to be case-to-case filler episodes (I was fine with that) and slight romance at best. But boy was I shocked. There were no filler episodes, all the cases weaved into the plot to the point that by the end, everything made sense.
And the romance was *chef's kiss*. The communication, trust, and love the leads had for each other were some of the best I've ever seen in a drama.
The reason the rating dropped isn't just because of Cherry's character. OG was targeted by several groups. It…
Oh I thought it was the character because I read the comments before watching the drama myself. It's sad that they missed out on a great drama because of ZLH's screentime. ZJM has amazing screen presence, so even though I too, would have liked to see ZLH more, ZJM did a great job holding it down.
But, I have a feeling that one day people will go back and apperciate this drama like they have with "Love is Sweet" and "Moonlight" years later.
The first episode was not good. I was expecting a rebirth plot and that didn't happen. I'm debating if I should continue or not? Victoria Song is also quite underwhelming as the FL, so there's that.
