The drama was alright. It felt like a bunch of short dramas I've watched in the past combined into one. I was initially going to give this a 7.5, but one of my biggest pet peeves is when they introduce us to a FL that's strong and capable and then strip that away, just so she can be a damsel in distress so that the ML can save her. Is it impossible to make the FL the protector or at least have them on equal grounds for once?
I read about Dong Zhu Jun. She was jailed for five years, I believe. I wonder if it's going to be loosely based of her life or they're going to really take it there as much as they can with the censorship.
The plot was there, but it wasn't as exciting as I was hoping it'd be. And those last few episodes were trash. You can't write a character evolving for the better and then in the last few episodes, revert them back to their old ways. It felt like lazy writing, and the Emperor is an idiot. How are so many people able to manipulate this man, and he's still sitting on the throne?
Well, anyways, this gets an 8.5 out of me; simply because the romance was so good. "I love the moon, yet the moon doesn't know it" Lives rent free in my head.
It had it's sweet moments for me. The big drawbacks for me is the FL pinning after the 2ML for 85% percent of the drama and both FL's running away instead of being honest. Still a decent drama. It's a solid 8 for me. Han Hyo Jee's acting was also exceptional.
do you know the funny part? The same act for that cherry got so bashed and ratings got crashed is actually the…
First Frost was one of the first dramas that came to mind. And it was actually worse in that one because they were an actual couple when she pulled that stunt. Cherry stated numerous times that she's the Prince and he's the Princess, so no one should feel any type of way that the roles are this way in the drama. But like you said, double standards.
I'm perplexed by the 7.9 rating and people in the comments questioning Jiang Qiao Xi's love for Cherry. Jiang Qiao Xi wasn't in this drama as much as he should have been, but when he was, it was clear as day 90% of his mind revolved around thoughts of Cherry and the last 10% percent was just him struggling to live without her.
People are so used to the man fighting for the FL at all costs that when roles are reversed, it's an issue. Cherry's unwavering loyalty is what I loved the most about her. She wasn't desperate or a fool for fighting for Jiang Qiao Xi.
It was a solid drama with good rewatch value 9/10. I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers and bonus when the female lead has brains and isn't a damsel in distress. And the 2nd couple had my entire heart. I loved that pairing so much, and the representation they gave of having a woman bigger than the standard size loved out loud was nice to watch.
Why is the second part of these dramas never on par with the first part, when it comes to quality and writing? Did the writer change? Because the last ten episodes were ridiculous. It's an 8/10. Mainly because the first part was amazing and I love the Yang Zi and Li Xian. But I could never see myself rewatching this part again.
This drama was beautifully made. The acting, writing, and cinematography was perfect. 10/10 for me. It filled the void of "When Life Gives You Tangerines" for me.
I've been in a drama slump since June, and this was the first drama that I've managed to finish. It was a 10/10 for me. I enjoyed every single episode.
But anyway, it's a 7/10 for me.
