You're right. If GZY's mother was the spy, Wufeng would have heard news of her death... so she may not be the spy.
In episode 5, a very important detail was brought up, that the secret of the Gong was almost leaked... was it Internal Heart(?) can't remember the name but apparently only leaderships along with the two oldest Gong brothers knew of it. I dont think any of the Gong brothers are working undercover. The person has to have come into close contact with that Zheng assassin girl to pass the note. Definitely someone who can go in and out of prison or roam freely.
So 20 something years ago, an assassin snuck into Gong residence and disappeared.
I dont think any of the elders are from Wufeng. They're too old. Accordingly to the timeline, that person would be older than our leads but younger than the elders. That person should be middle age, probably 30-50 years ago if still alive. The possibility of that person being GZY's mom is 50%. We have yet to see her backstory but it appears to be tragic.
As for YWS's identity, perhaps the old lady was a paid actor. If not, maybe the real YWS was a recluse and didnt go out as often hence why most people dont recognize her. Or she truly is the first daughter from the Yun family and was kidnapped at a young age. The girl getting marry may have been her little sister and they have similar features.

Amazing first 4 episodes. I'm extremely ZLH biased; he's so pleasing to the eyes... every moment, look, angle, etc but wow the other men in this show are not falling behind either. Never thought I would have 2ml syndrome in a ZLH drama.
Esther and the actress playing SQ are slaying. Their sisterhood may be fake for now but I feel like they may really become friends later on. Will hate to see them turn on each other.
The fight scenes are so well done and the costumes look to be of great quality. Me personally but loving the minimal hair accessories the ladies are wearing. Sometimes less is better. Too much is too distracting.
Up to now there is only one thing bothering me that is ZLH’s makeup. Really cheap caked wrong color and undertone…
