That's exactly how I felt the first few episodes. They were trying to introduce way too many characters and side stories before the main story and characterization of the leads were solidified.

They compliment each other visually but the chemistry is currently lacking at the moment due to too many factors.

At episode 9 now, I can finally feel their chemistry and it's gotten pretty good. I hope the pace picks up soon though.

I love how CX isn't a major player in the game right now so no one is mad at him yet... but for sure, everyone will hate and curse him towards the end of season 2. I

Tbh, I'm still mad at him and disappointed at XY for "forgiving" him. He didn’t deserve it.

I think no one that household loved anyone. Hou also suffered and I get why he's bitter. The novel did a great job at describing that anger and bitterness.

It truly wasnt his fault or Jing's fault. They're victims of the bad decisions the adults have made. sad to say but sometimes siblings turn on each other solely because of their parents.

I told myself to give it 10-12 episodes before determining if it's worth it. Finally caught up on ep. 8.

I think the script and writing really limited DYX's acting range cause he did really good in episode 8. When needed, he's able to emote and he does it so well.

YCY's acting is bearable but I also noticed that when paired up with older veteran actors, she can really bring out her emotions... like that scene with her father. I thought that was the best I've seen from her so far.

Things are finally picking up. It's nothing like the novel so watch it as it's own separate story. Tho I'm still confused as to what purpose some of the characters serve, I'll continue to watch.

i dont follow c-entertainment news like that so I'm sort of flabbergasted by all the hate Deng Wei is getting for this role. I think he's doing a great job.

I remembered when the casting was finalized, many novel readers didn't like the actor for XL and said they weren't going to watch it cause he wasn't their ideal image of XL..

I need Once Promised to be remade. It was such a good book but awful execution...

I heard that Deng Wei personally audition for the role even though it was the less popular character of the 3 male leads. I was a bit worried but so far, I think he's embodying Jing very well. I couldn't imagine another TSJ

Agreed. I'm not enjoying the humor. The humor in the novel was a lot more well polished cause of their bickering and dislike for each other. I just dont understand why change the original plot and flow when it's perfect the way it is. If they followed the novel, they'd have a solid plotline and foundation then if they want to, they can be creative and add a few characters here and there.

I'm willing to give it a chance up to 20 episodes before deciding if I want to continue. This one is highly anticipated and I trust the LBFAD team.

It's not a tragedy per se, but depending on which character you love, that will determine how you feel about the ending. Imo, it's bittersweet and for the best.

I've read the novel about 3x as well in the past decade. I always joke that my life itself is a tragedy so that's my favorite genre. First time, it'll destroy you to where emotions will over take logic/rationality. Second time, you'll still be sad but you will be "content". Third time, you will see it from a different perspective, notice details you didn't before, and make peace aka closure. I've done this with almost all things with tragic endings.

Thanks for the insight. I gave episode one a tried and was thrown off. I dont mind them getting creative but sometimes being too creative ruins the beauty of the story. I'll continue to give it a chance tho before making judgment.

It's finally here! First impression, the two leads compliment each other visuals very well. So CGI, bgm, visuals are good.

You are spot on. At the end when XL is leaving Ah Bi, a spiritual being who can enchant wicked souls, he wasn't able to enchant XL cause his soul is pure and not filled with greed.

Thai BLs be on another level. I've never watch one but when they show up on my fyp on tiktok, it's wild.

As for Deng Wei, he naturally has that bad boy look and will make a badass XL. TJC has that boyish look and will make a great TSJ.

Funny how it was released not even that long ago and my random playlist went ahead and added it. Didnt realized i was listening to it that much for the algorithm to change. The other song just added a day ago is the fireworks (?) one.

The funny thing is Immortality hasnt even aired yet and it has that much attention already. Imagine when they finally let it out of the dungeon.

probably comes with years of experience as a general and having to think quick to save lives; logic and rationality before emotions.
