I feel like the friendship between Joon and JJ was also so toxic. And JJ, Joon, and in hyung's story went in circles…
But his treatment of his gf and his friend was so bad! Just because he didn't break the main couple up doesn't mean he didn't cause a whole lot of emotional trauma to his gf and friend. In real life his gf would require years of therapy and possibly a restraining order against him in order to move on.

This drama was a strange mix of cliches and 2000 style toxic friend and romance relationship. The first half especially feel disjointed with a bunch of cliched scenes where ML and FL are thrown together. They then get together all of a sudden with zero character growth, especially with FL. Second half is a mix of lovey dovey stuff with resolution of the story. Not worth 16 episodes at all.

Just finished it. I dont get many of the comments here. I only watch happy stuff. I research a show before watching…
I feel like the friendship between Joon and JJ was also so toxic. And JJ, Joon, and in hyung's story went in circles for so long that personally this show wasn't light hearted anymore for me. Couldn't stand JJ after ep 11 and not happy with the ending where he was forgiven.

Can somebody explain to me how everyone is saying this is toxic? I watched it from the beginning till the end,…
The second leads relationship between JJ and In Hyung is most certainly toxic (emotional manipulation, too much control, jealousy, etc). Worse, JJ's friendship with Joon is also extremely toxic (You're a friend only if you do exactly as I want). Joon did nothing wrong by staying with his agency, yet JJ absolutely trashed their relationship because he didn't get his way. I think JJ's character should've had a worse ending than what he got. I don't like that they did the usual "sweep toxic actions under the rug and hug it out" crap that the 2000s dramas did a lot.

I thought about it too, specially when her(FL) mother drag her to the dentist. lolBut few episodes after, story…
You truly are lucky then! And good for you. Honestly. You are probably benefiting from the current generation in India as well.. I know current generation have had more freedom. But it wasn't always like that and when I see controlling parents in C dramas, it just seems natural.

If you haven't had trouble with controlling parents, count yourself lucky or maybe you lucked out being a man (assuming based on name). Trust me, asian moms of 25+ year old unmarried girls can be a league of their own crazy.

As for MLs reaction - well he is awkward plus the drama had to set up the situation for them to stare at each other angrily somehow. This is such a well known trope.

And when dou dou cried her heart out, it is pretty common to expect her friends to just be annoyed or even hate ex bf by default. Girl code.

Looks like the drama just isn't your cup of tea. It happens. I like this and am almost done with it. Enjoyed it and skipped very very few scenes. Girlfriend is a drama I just watched which I found so extremely annoying that I was reacting to it the way you reacted to this.

C dramas don't have much logic in most of them. It is trope filled romance. Some are enjoyable and some aren't. We can't expect more from them.

ML wasn't cast as the lead for the actual movie. He was only the lead in the pilot video (which for some reason…
Ahh ok. I've never heard of a separate male lead doing the test video/preview. So was confused. Thanks!

By the time the FL meets the ML at the bus stop, she has misunderstood him to be the cheating bad guy her employee was dating (by the name). She then confirms it when she sees him return a box of stuff.
In some countries like China and other south Asian or asian countries, scams like the one the old lady was trying to pull is actually common.the scammer makes enough noise and causes a scene and in most cases people will pay up to be able to walk away (been in a few situations like that myself).

Not saying you should give the drama a shot, but a lot of what you didn't like including controlling mom are very possible and part of the culture.

The cinematography , the music , the sets and wardrobe gethigh marks from me. Very modern, very American, and…
The sets are gorgeous!! Honestly the cafe set was so beautiful that I kept watching because I was surprised by how different the sets/location was from other dramas.

Do asian writers hate women...why are the men always super cool, handsome, smart and everything under God's green…
In an attempt to make the FLs more relatable, writers end up making them cringey sometimes. Also remember - cringe for one might be normal for someone else. They are trying to make the FL imperfect and someone the viewer can feel is part of their day to day life. So when the handsome-perfect ML appears, it is almost as if you, the everyday normal down to earth viewer could be in the FLs position.
Majority of viewers of these dramas are female and the writers are trying to capitalize on it. By the popularity of the perfect male-imperfect female Cinderella stories, it is working!

Th script in this drama is ridiculously plot-hole filled!!

The ML declared the FL his fiance and even kissed her at that party welcoming han hui. How did the world forget about that? Were there no pics taken or no reports written about such a major declaration?

The ML was cast as the lead for the blue sky galaxy. They even shot a teaser. But then what was the confusion when the lead drops out after the teaser was shot?

And then the MLs reactions keep changing like crazy. One minute he is using his influence to get FL into his company and doing everything for her. The next he is putting crazy rules like work for 14 hours, wear heels always, etc.

Overall it is cute but each scene has no connection to the next sometimes.

I just start this drama after finishing Ancient Love Poetry. I am in ep 3 and already disturbed by the same thing…
Watch it for Xu Kai and the supporting cast! Especially towards ep 15+, his smiles and smirks, the team's reaction and all is fun.

Loving this drama so far for it's slightly different portrayal of the same old cute stories. Love that the characters are older and FL actually has an ex. Refreshing change from the innocent impressionable girl.
What bugs me and keeps making me want to stop is the way they never change the FL's look!! She has gone through multiple makeovers and still looks EXACTLY the same. Almost like they signed a contract that her hairstyle and makeup won't change a bit. Going to bed? Just ready for the day? Working out? Finished applying make up? Got a haircut? No problem, she still looks exactly the same. 🙄 Not even a ponytail or different colored lipstick!!
Xu Kai is great in this and the supporting cast is cute. Just can't get over the FLs look issues.

I'd say give this a shot! The FL's dad and mom are good. The relationships in that family are shown well, just not the focus of the show.

I am on episode 12 now. So far, it doesn't seem like the story is dragging since friendship and stuff happening at school is interesting. But! If you are looking for fast moving romance, this drama isn't it. The romance moves very slowly and from what I've read, is very innocent.

Yes! The story might seem cliche with high school love and fake-siblings. Maybe people set it aside as a mash up of more popular dramas? I am enjoying the acting so much here.

this description gives me go ahead vibes is it simialr ?
I found it similar too!! Especially the first few episodes since they hint at the "brother" being affectionate and sweet but the female lead is clueless and treats him like a brother. The major difference being that this drama is focused just on their relationship so there is time spent with th characters realizing their changing feelings, but Go Ahead has lot of other things going on.
I haven't watched th whole drama yet so can't compare which is better

Review Vincenzo
The tolerance of mix of genres seems to be extremely subjective I've seen. Of course, taste in any art form is ultimately subjective, but this point keeps coming up with k dramas. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon is my favorite drama of all time and I know it received a lot of hate for the similar mix of genres. I didn't find it jarring at all. Same with Vincenzo.. the switch in genres to me just makes the show more "human". I enjoy gritty mafia/underworld type shows, but this is also a refreshing watch. A mix of comedy and silliness to lighten the mood and show another side of the characters. Personally this to me has been one of the better shows to come out of SKorea recently just based on quality of acting and production.
