Oh indeed! Both CBL and KBL dramas are completely turned the fandom on it's head since 2025 and now TBL is the one that's forced to keep up with the new wave of BLs that are aimed at us, the veterans/more mature audience who's been watching BL for 10-15+_years! Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy a well written high school fluff now and then, but I just love intense, dark, toxic, angsty, twisted and controversial themed BLs the best! Give me a black/red flag bad boy any day so when I encounter a green flag now it feels like a refreshing palate cleanser instead of being bored to tears by watching a Mr. Right & Perfect getting his boy in every other series!
Please, someone tell me if FL is really going to marry Mr. constant no-show, lame ass weakling, spy wannabe who is always late or absent, unable to protect her or care for her, leaving her behind for years to tend her sick mother all by herself? Because if that's the case I need to bring a big bucket beside my laptop for the next episode for excessive barfing!
I know our ML is a walking red flag in many ways, but behind all that madness and mayhem, deep within he has a tender heart and a vulnerable soul that is starved for love! He has compassion, he clearly loves children and for all the bad/immoral thing he's done and that loathsome attitude that he hides behind, he was willing to die for the woman he loves! He didn't hesitate, not even for a millisecond! He shielded her from that blade completely disregarding his own safety only caring about her well being!
He is still a total jackass and has a very long way to go for redemption, but he truly loves her! To be honest, I would always chose a man who is willing to die for me! Sure, he is like a feral feline, but as the saying goes "The love of a good woman can tame the beast and lead him onto a righteous path!"

While choosing my avatar it was a close toss-up between the two greatest idols, my personal heroes, the undisputed champions of sarcasm and lack of compassion with unmatched self centered powers: Garfield and Dr. House! In the end I picked Garfield, because he is more furry, moderately high maintenance ( I can make a killer lasagna on a daily basis) and he only requires a full access to my kitchen, pantry and the remote control and cozy warm place to sleep undisturbed about 20 hours a day! On the other hand, House needs various type of musical instruments, a motorcycle, female companions from a red light district, cable TV, pharmaceuticals and genius level puzzles so he won't get bored to the point of dismantling my apartment just to amuse himself! That avatar could have been a wee bit more problematic I wager!
Well, Mr. Kang is totally my kind of power bottom! Slightly unhinged, insanely provocative with the attitude of a sassy feline! This BL is so painfully good that it's almost scary! It's forbidden because it's in a school setting even though the younger man is of legal age and in a few months would no longer be a student. Please, excuse my lengthy post in advance, but I really wanted to take the time to make a few things clear!
Many people feel uncomfortable about this BL, because deep down we understand that those two are just some badly broken people who desperately need anything positive in their lives even if that means breaking a taboo! To be clear here, this is NOT a story of a pervert teacher seducing/using/grooming/manipulating/abusing an underage innocent student! This is NOT about condoning/supporting/validating intimacy between a teacher and a student! In this story we only see victims making a forbidden choice.
The saddest part is that this is too realistic and it hits with a force of an F5 tornado! There are so many abused students out there who ends up falling for the first adult who would show them kindness, care, protection, love and understanding. This is a well documented fact! In real life the s*icide rate is one of the highest among abused/neglected older minors and young adults between the age of 17-22!
Most of the time teachers are following the law and their conscience when they're become aware of that the person whom they are mentoring developed feelings and they will try to gently decline any type of romantic advances from a troubled/traumatized student. Unfortunately in numerous cases the youngster will see this as another betrayal, another rejection, another abandonment and either they self destruct or in a blind rage get revenge in a form of accusation of misconduct/abuse or SA and in some cases even killing their beloved mentor!
This BL letting us see clearly the dance on thee knife's edge that many educators encounter plus it dares to reveal that even a good person could find him/herself in a situation when the trap is already triggered and no matter what he/she chose to do it has a high chance of ending in a tragedy! May that be jailtime or the morgue for him, his life is permanently damaged beyond repair! Even in the best case scenario when he manage to scape from both outcome, the mental and emotional damage will be a constant agony for the rest of his life!
The same goes for Hyeon Jae! He might end up killing his own father or himself or both! He might sacrifice himself to save his beloved teacher! Maybe his father will beat him to death one day! Even if he escape from a fate like any of the above, there is a very small chance to recover from all his trauma to live a "normal" life!
One more thing! The morality and prudence police is out in full force since episode 1 try to claim that the teacher is a pedophile /s*xual predator or a simple pervert who likes underage boys! It is so far from the truth that it belongs to another solar system! Throughout the series it's Hyeon Jae who is relentlessly pursuing his teacher and he is not a victim of any kind of exploitation or coercion by him! Furthermore, the legal age of consent in South Korea is 17 and our student is a 20 years old adult man and under the law he is fully responsible for his own actions! The only reason why this particular relationship is taboo is because one is a teacher and the other one is a student, but under the Korean Criminal Law since both of them are consenting adults technically they DIDN'T commit any crime, but it's against the moral and ethical code of every school and it carries swift and often severe punishment against the teacher if such relationship is reported!
In conclusion, people tend to forget that real life is not a black and white canvas and circumstances can push the boundaries of moral and ethical issues! In this story all odds are against a positive resolution regardless of any physical intimacy just because Hyeon Jae's sadistic, ultra rich and powerful father won't ever let him go! Realistically speaking this forbidden love story is doomed from the get go like the Titanic! Of course this is only IMHO as always and I'll see you after the finale!
So, is there anyone else getting 'Unforgotten Night' vibes here or it is just me? Because, I'm not ashamed to admit that 'Unforgotten Night' is one of my favorite "it's so bad that it's good" BLs and since I find this one somewhat similar to that I'm already highly entertained!
Also, I'm guessing with FortPeat in the mix there will be some major improvements as far as the plot goes so I'm totally ready for that too! On the other hand, if this BL stays at the level of 'Unforgotten Night' I won't complain either! That series cheered me up a few times after a hard day and I fondly recall snort-laughing through most of it even during a rewatch! Honestly, there've been so many angsty heavy hitters on my watchlist lately that I can really use some no-brainer hilarity to cleanse my palate and if it comes with extra spice all the better!
Meanwhile, for those netizens who are already complaining and whining about this series I would suggest either to drop it and save themselves from some self inflicted misery or just stop taking it seriously and have a good laugh! Sometime it's very therapeutic to enjoy the nonsensical things in life so we can get a breather from all the negative crap out in the real world! Of course this is only IMHO as always and I'll see you next week!

BTW, self reflection, self correction only works from the inside, so naturally, when people make mistakes it can only be fixed when a person is ready for that change/correction and stable enough to bear any consequences that comes with it! A sincere, meaningful apology and being responsible for the mistakes one made cannot be done on demand and shouldn't be forced in any way shape or form!
