Life long martial artist here. Most people are not really familiar with the dynamics of what may seem like fantasy but can and I say can, be actually true, in the ancient world of war.
The majority of fighters, whether they were in the King's Army, thugs, or assassins.....didn't have much training.....thugs and assassins often just relied on the fact that most of the people they were fighting were not any more skilled than they were...and would use aggressiveness to frighten opponents so badly that they would let down their guard.
The old saying "puff yourself up so you seem taller" is appropo here. It's why historically warriors painted their faces or wore hideous masks, used drums and shouting to scare opponents who would then lose courage.
A king, or someone like the ML in My Dearest.....had huge egos and stellar training.....and believe it or not physical skills are not the main force that makes a warrior unbeatable.....it's the belief that no one can match you that is the first dynamic to success.
A warrior with excellent skills but has no confidence in himself, or is secretly afraid of dying......is easy to beat.

I found the lack of what has now become standard in plots across all genres, that serious hate and revenge becomes what the whole plot is about...to be quite refreshing.
Even the consort just seemed like a young woman with insecurity issues rather than evil.

I am half way thru this and I find it adorable. I have never cared for the FL and mostly skip her works, but I have to say she is doing a bang up job in this one and I send much respect her way for obviously continuing to work hard on her skills.
The ML is fairly new to the scene but is doing a great job also. He is also cute as all get out.
It's supercool to see so many cameo roles by some of our favorite actors and actresses.
It's true the plot is a well worn out trope but this cast did a great job of adding new life to it.
It's definitely a 8.5 in my book so far.

Funny, I was just thinking the other day, while listening to the OST from Destined that I need to see a new Ro Woon series. 💖

The point being made is that no one in their right mind makes any kind of statements in public that can be used against them in court. If she has a lawyer that allows her to be making statements like she is, she needs a new lawyer.
There used to be a saying "name, rank and serial number" that is all you say concerning potential or ongoing litigation.

Please educate yourself. Jack Ma was engaging in corruption and broke the law. He later gave a long interview while in the West where he admitted he mistreated workers and was involved in illegal activities. He is now back at the helm after receiving punishment. In China, it's not like the West where the government or the law looks the other way or offenders get no more than a slap on the wrist.
In China, you break the law and get caught ..you get punished.

I have this feeling that many reviews on MDL have little to do with the production or the actors. They seem more like they are just unhappy in life and are looking for an outlet to release that pent up anger, sadness and loneliness.
So Hyun rocked this character. It was so nice to see women portrayed more like some of us out here who don't need to lean on a man or find their self worth in one.
As a martial artist myself who uses weapons, including armament, I loved her role. when she tied the rope across between the pillars to use to steady the rifle, it shows the writer also understands that a piece like that is really heavy for a woman to hold for any length of time.....little details like this thru out the series were very rewarding to watch.....for those experienced in MA or the use of weapons, the detail was appreciated
There was a move toward the end where Sang Yi used his baton to get under the guy's armpit then spun him around to dislocate his shoulder that was really cool

Viewers perpetually seem to forget...it's a movie, it's meant to be entertaining, it's not a documentary. And honestly, non athletes have this view that the body can only take so much punishment and it crumbles. Athletes know better. People who have endured torture know better.
Armchair warriors are clueless.
Even normal people can endure when they have to. I remember back in the late 80s. A young woman was abducted, had her arms cut off at the elbow and was left to die alongside the road. She walked miles for help
Or the hiker who got his arm stuck in a boulder when it shifted, and after five days with no one coming to help, cut his arm off with a pocket knife

Bo Gum is amazing. So talented physically, a great actor whose smile lights up my whole room. Few actors can manage to have so many emotions flit across their face in a minute's time
Sung Tae amazed me with his fitness level in this series...and So Hyun is the consummate bad ass.......I would like to see more of these roles for FL instead of the baby talking ones.
Writers seem to forget that yes, there are pragmatic women who don't feel the need to cling, the need to harp, the need to fill up every air space with useless chatter.
I just can't say enough good things about the cast. From Jung Se's mesmerizing performance to the huggable Won Seok to the heart warming loyalty of Sang Yi...there isn't a single dead weight actor in this series.
I absolutely LOVED the fight scenes ...well done my friends...I think everyone must have been literally exhausted by the time filming wrapped up.
This and "Trigger" really made my week. ?

This turns out to be my favorite KDrama so far this year 💕

In my wildest imagination I cannot imagine what BTS must have been like with all these wild and crazy guys on one set. Would pay to see that

Yes. You can always tell the actors who smoke and the ones who don’t. It surprises me SK has really gone whole hog in glorifying smoking. I am tending to watch more CDramas or historical KDramas because of it.
Smoking is nasty and disgusting 😂

Its done well but I am on E12, and so far the series has no “spark” and I say this forlornly because I really like XZ. I wasn't here for the romance so that isn’t the problem…..but very happy its well received by most viewers.

Thank you…I thought maybe it was just me 😂. Absolutely no plot, just a lot of over the top extreme brutal violence. Dropped on E2. What were they trying to get across with the nonstop smoking? Stupid drama no substance.

At E15, liking the series but have to watch with sound off……..what is the fascination with having grown women talk like babies 🤷‍♂️

I am deaf. For me, AI has been a great gift…..so many series are now quickly available. AI is a cautionary tale, not all AIs are well trained….so its best for us not to criticize AI as a whole.
Just like any software, its only as good as the programmer's skills 😂

That isnt what I said…..I said it would be cool to have a a S2 which takes place in this time period, but references their conscious awareness of their past life together.
That isnt a plot, its a concept.
