i have never watched drama with this much characters introduction in episode 1, so confuse, lolz.
If you watched The Wind Rises in Luoyang, it's just like that...and the subs are very fast, even for me and I am a speed reader. Don't get hung up on who is who, that period of history, the heroes and villains changed almost daily 😂
I assume this is rated so low because it has no romance 🤡. I thought it was superb ..the plot, the actors....excellent. Really made me miss Kyun. Hoon was outstanding....he went for the soft speaking characterization......and it really worked ....almost serial killer vibes.
I was just thinking the other day, while watching The Nice Guy, that Cheon Ho-Jin stole every scene he was in and how much I will be saddened as all my favorite older actors pass on and we will no longer be able to see them.
Starts off slow, seems a little cheezy.....but I was watching while eating dinner and was too lazy to stop watching. Glad I didn't drop it. Really original plot ....excellent acting....Kyung Soo did a great job...Was really a spellbinder, you never know where it will end up.....it's like a rollercoaster Fun times.
There is so much real history here, much of it not shown in previous Chosun based series. It's a gold mind....like when they have the subplot about maps and you suddenly realize how this was one of the primary reasons the Nobles were able to keep the masses essentially with no tools for revolution. I liked that they kept subtly reenforcing the truth about many of the bandits. They were anarchists at heart, not all were just there to rob the people. And we see this in the stunning portrayal of Mudeok.....what a treat to see the depth of his acting talent unleashed.....he shows how a normal person reacts to being thrust into the limelight....he learns from his mistakes and keeps bravely moving forward This drama made me very emotional which is not normal for me as I am very much a pragmatist....but these performances really reached deeply in me. I was very grateful they stuck to the overall premise of the plot and didn't turn it into a soapy romantic drama

What I found really interesting is that only a few moments here and there did Rowoon elicit expressions of the Rowoon we have come to know and love. It was like he is a completely different person here.....I give him a lot of respect....I have always loved his work but here we see just how much talent he has went let loose 💓💓💓
The last year, ratings have become completely unreliable on MDL. Really good dramas gets way too low rating.
It seems, and I may be wrong, but a lot of the older viewers have left MDL...which I can completely understand why, as I am one of those older viewers. It's like the comment section often sounds like a thirteen year old girls pajamas party.

There are many nuances before the two women meet that although subtle, it is acknowledged that he didn't love the consort, that she was a political opponent and perhaps the only one he was allowed contact with that he felt kindly disposed to. But when he meets the FL he begins to realize that there is much more to relationships than what he had experienced with anyone previously, since his mother died. We have to remember, he wasn't allowed to make his own choices of female companions, it was always based on political alignments...and the FL presents a trait he has never encountered before in female companions, which we are reminded of often......enthusiasm, and even more importantly....she dealt with him as a person, not a title, not someone to manipulate.....she just treated him like a person and for someone as young as he was, this must have been something that made him feel less alone in the world.
