Truly, plot holes. A lot of style in this show but not enough substance for me. Was hoping something more meaningful could be said or developed in the writing, but the episodes in this second half have been a lot just shock factor and twists. XWJ stabbing his brother in 24 has got to be one of the most WTH moments for me so far. What happened to the crazy ax guy? Couldn’t he just start mowing down Tiemo people lol. And the Tiemo king was wounded by then too. I guess I’ll have to watch and see for myself.

I understand where you are coming from. One could argue that's what is wrong with everyone in this show lol, resorting to violence and killing. At what point is an eye for an eye enough? Is it ever enough?
But I still think there's a distinction between the doctor and ML in this. ML wanted to get back at specifically anyone directly involved with his family's being wiped out. The doctor is justifying the killing of people not involved with his family's death with some kind of grand notion that it's for the betterment of his people. That's delusion in my opinion.

He killed the husband (the guy Xie Huai'an was impersonating at the time), who told him about that guy harassing his wife (he had to kill him or else Xie Huai'an's cover would have been blown). It was in a way to repay him for killing him. I know, really messed up stuff goes on in this show. All of them need serious mental help.

At that point, XWJ couldn't trust XHA or Ye Zheng. He was also controlled like a caged bird under Yan Fengshan for years, so he had some built up paranoia and fear of trusting people. He had been locked up and starved by Ye Zheng prior to the face switching thing. He did not see Huai'an or Ye Zheng as friends certainly. He saw an opportunity and took it (perhaps to escape). Like others said, it was act on impulse. His reaction afterward and his subsequent guilt were well-detailed and portrayed. It doesn't negate the fact he murdered someone of course.

Master manipulator, gaslighter and just a sick person all in all. He carries himself as a older man with the guise of gentility and civility, but he's still that murderous crazy man in that prison hole.
