I think this is because he doesn't feel for her, and neither does she. FL is just trying to get her freedom back, while ML is just into using her as a pawn in his game. The drama is toxic and thought ep 3 and 4 did set an undertone as a little comfy vibe between too, its not like that, she hates him. Its only in ep 4, ending scene when I felt, he genuinely felt something. Because otherwise any time she gets bullied or so, he just finds her bravery amusing.
The drama is toxic but they really are going to have a long antagonistic drama, and if you have watched the final trailer which got released today before the episodes released, they give you almost a lot of information, and the drama gets messier and darker with political intrigue and character motivations later as we go further into the episodes.

Like this is still a toxic love story, but thankfully they changed a lot of stuff. Especially making FL a strong woman, than the submissive weak woman she was in the novel.

He has character development in the second half, but he does his trash things before that, uhh.

They trashed overdo everyday as well, I think they hate Republican genre but still would hate watch. Or maybe they like attention.

That person is not a fan. I watched Overdo, and was interacting in that comment section as well. They were a ruckus. And even if I understand that the ML here is a big RED flag, Qingyi (ML in Overdo) was a pure innocent person, but this person trashed Overdo everyday. Yes there were people who disliked it, that's a personal choice, but they kept on coming and dissed it everyday. And its same here, they watched the trailer and started criticizing the drama every day even before its release, so I blocked them to protect my peace.
They just love hate watching so. Its possible this genre is not for you, or you don't like this script, or editing, or acting, whatever, drop it. Nope, lets ruin it for others by spamming the comment section.

Okay I cannot see the comments, because I blocked them before, but if this is about Evania, they are like a bot. They like hate watching, they did the same in the other Republican drama page as well. They cannot stop criticizing the dramas but they would continue to watch it and comment on it regularly. Yeah too toxic for my taste.
One thing is genuine criticism, no drama is perfect, everyone who is spending time to watch the drama should be able to say their perceptions on it regardless of our liking or not. But some people are just weird, they like disrupting the watch experience of others.

I mean this drama only. The novel was trash to its leading FL. The drama made countless changes, they even altered a lot in her character. There are many stuff that never happened in the novel, but were filmed for the drama, whose Reuters fans (including me) have seen. So its impossible for them to have that novel ending.
The ending can be sad, but it cannot be same as the novel.

Novel ending cannot be followed, because there are a lot of things changed in the drama from the novel. But there is no confirmation of how the ending will be seeing the Reuters- it can be both sad (just not following the novel) or happy. In fact I heard they filmed 2 endings and now it depends on the director.

Its 40 episodes. But someone needs to request a change to MDL, but I have no idea how. It was earlier 38 episodes, later increased to 40 after editing, so.

Its too early to say. But there is political intrigue, and all most of the characters, especially supporting characters have a lot of layers and motivations. The pacing is good. So maybe if not 4, you can just watch one episode to try to see if its to your liking.

It is adapted from the novel, and the novel had some hot scenes. But honestly it won't be that extreme, its China at the end of the day. The main theme is still adventure, and because people like such things in dramas, the first teaser showed the couple scenes only so.

No I am not guessing. 2 days back the character chart of the leads was revealed by Mango tv. Their ages, year of births were mentioned. She is 18 and he is 22. This was not said in the drama though so yes that's why you cannot remember.
I don't know about China, but in my country being 18 is the last year of school, so I am guessing its same for Pingjun as well.
