What I know based on the trailer and some spoilers of the drama, is she was his brother's lover, and hence YCX takes care of her. But they don't have an affair in the drama. She starts to see her lover (YCX's brother) in him, and starts to like him. But that's because she is alone, lonely and she is mentally not doing okay. She is not going to be a huge problem in the drama.

Who Lan Qing, the opera singer? I have no idea about this. I did not read the novel, because it was different than the drama script. My friend did and she told me few things from the novel.

Okay anyone who liked Cheng Lei in this role, I just wanted to recommend "Footprints of Change". It was another Republican drama he did, which released in 2025. That drama had 3 arcs. Cheng Lei and Jelly Lin were part of the first arc, of around 11 episodes. Those episodes were brilliant, and unlike here he doesn't play a red flag, but is powerful. He and Jelly Lin also had fantastic chemistry. And yes they got a happy ending as well.

Yes, according to the novel, there are 6 siblings shared by Ex-Commander Yu and his wife. First son was Mingxuan, who died. Another son, died of illness, when he was very young.
