Filming dramas have nothing to do with inability to promote their airing dramas. All actors do their best to promote…
I think I mentioned this before. It is for the consumption of those who are wondering why there are no promotion for TBW. These are not baseless assumptions. These are just probability estimates, based on the availability of Reba and Allen to do promotion or video shoots. There is no need for you read too much into it, if you are not keen about reading this stuff. I am sure I will not be getting prizes for guessing right, nor will I wish to be blamed, if I am wrong.
I do it, so that when there are no video shoots, people may understand why. If there are, people will be pleasantly surprised. Birdlady is constantly wondering about it. Even if it is just for her, I do not mind to do such analysis.
One online Chinese magazine suggested 10 Jan as the airing date. That seems to what the people at MDL are expecting as well, hence the countdown clock. If so, it is indeed strange that there is no trailer. Maybe this is a last minute decision and they'd rather focus on post production editing, to perfect the drama, rather than spending time on doing a trailer? Just a guess. 10 Jan is just days away. We will know the truth by then.

I think they will. I do feel that some promotional stuff will indeed be coming up soon. Maybe they are still concentrating on perfecting the CGI for the final product. If they want to air this during the winter games and also compete with mirror twin cities, I think the CGI and editing must be top class. Perhaps they are focussing on that, and then work on a new trailer?? If indeed 30 Jan is the broadcast date, we should see something soon. If they show this drama without a new trailer, it will be quite disappointing, because the first trailer wasn't all that great.
Didn't Reba leave AnLe shooting to go and participate in promos for YAMG? Do you think Allen can take some time…
YAMG was aired during summer. The challenge was how to make people stay at home, instead of going out to enjoy the warm summer air in the evening. If TBW is shown right before CNY, it is winter time and cold. People are more likely to be hanging around at home, especially in the evening. China is adopting very severe measures to keep COVID at bay, again increasing the likelihood of people staying at home. I think the key now will be the quality of TBW. If it is good, we need not be too worried about promotion. Even after watching the Games, they can still watch TBW after that. View counts should be very healthy.

Also, if TBW is aired right before Chinese New Year and right before the Winter Games, any airing promotional materials in the midst of broadcast may be no fight for promotion of the Winter Games in China. The best form of promotion could well be the drama itself. If the first few episodes are truly outstanding, viewers will be hooked right through the CNY, and even be able to survive the Winter Games.

I am totally cool about it. It is just for the consumption of people who might be concerned about promotion for TBW. Dilraba doing all that for YAMG is no prediction that Allen will do or can even do that. She was able to do that, because the filming schedule of LOA allowed her to do that. And it was worth it because Happy Camp reaches millions of viewers in China. Allen's filming schedule may not permit him to do that, so we just have to be prepared for no video shoot. But, I am sure Youku has other things in mind that could be used for promoting TBW in the midst of airing.

She did. That was for Happy Camp, and Happy Camp has a huge audience in China, and likely planned very far ahead. If they do show TBW during the Chinese New Year, everyone is going so busy, and that just reduces the chance of them coming together just for a video shoot.
But Youku can always release some BTS, which Tencent did while TLB was being aired.
Wow! Congrats to both Reba and Yu Ning!! Hope there will be more to come!
I watched that talk show by Reba. I know that's what she says publicly. But privately, we are not sure what's going on in her mind. She loves to act, that we know. If she meets a life partner who can go along with that, who knows??
“When wu lei filmed the long ballad, he must have faced severe competition from other male leads?”
The above para? As you noted, this award is decided by fan votes. So, whoever who beat him to the award must have more fans. That is what I meant.
Wow! Congrats to both Reba and Yu Ning!! Hope there will be more to come!
It is, when we consider the fact that next to Li Changge, ashile sun is the most important character in TLB. And he portrayed it as well as male actor could have. But, there are more competition ahead. Maybe he might win something. And, Wu Lei is really young. There will be lots of opportunities in future. Reba will be hitting 30 next year. Soon, she maybe thinking of marriage.
Yes, the way her character was written, it is flawless. Even when she was making less than humble remarks about…
I think QJJ was written as a flawless character, and Dilraba's portrayal of QJJ is equally flawless. She was so natural, you do not even feel that she was acting.
Wow! Congrats to both Reba and Yu Ning!! Hope there will be more to come!
That is so sad. His performance in TLB was mind blowing, as you said. In particular, when we take into his account his young age, when he filmed TLB. He must have faced severe competition from other male leads.
That is rather strange. Yes, none of the main characters was suicidal. You are talking about Netflix with regard…
I am pleasantly surprised that someone did respond to my message! But, I am not sure how the person is related to Netflix, whether he/she is a third party or a Netflix employee. I have told the person that there is no suicidal tendencies among the leads. That person thought there could be fake deaths. I replied, there is also no fake deaths.
You are right that romcoms and mature romances are not mutually exclusive. But, we can tell the emphasis of each drama via the amount of time devoted to each element. Here, there is definitely more emphasis on romance and work life issues than humour and comedy.
I have to apologise to you I did not watch 18 Again. I watched Kdramas for years. But, a few years back, I migrated to Cdrama.
9/10 is a very good rating for this drama. While we all wish for more romance, the source material has even less…
Indeed!! In the source material, which you can find in the Recent Discussion section above, first entry, you will see that in the manhua, the story ended at the point where Li Changge merely started to have some feeling for Ashile Sun. They never got to confess their feelings for each other. The manhua ended prematurely, because the artist got into some legal issues with her former agency.
Hence, when they made this drama, the two scriptwriters had to do a lot of work. They know that even though this is a war story, drama viewers still wanted some romance. And so they did build some romance into the drama, but not a whole lot. If there is too much romance, the drama might lose its focus.

Hope this will draw more people in china to watch the blue whisper.
