Yes, at that point, he already lost one woman who mattered most in his life. He was not about to lose another. I think he knew that with or without Chang Ge, those bad people in the grasslands would always be using his adoptive mother to hold him back. She was always going to be a pawn. With or without CG, they would be willing to kill her. I am glad they 'kill' her character off early, so that Sun will be set free to pursue Chang Ge. And Sun's willingness to forgive Chang Ge for her indirect role would show how much he truly loved her. This is a fact that is not lost on Chang Ge.

It was reciprocal. Sun is about 5 years older than her. Has more battle experience and dealing with people. When she has learned enough, she would be willing to go above and beyond to save Sun.

If you have watched all those scenes very carefully, and still was not sold on their chemistry, it is ok. There is absolutely nothing wrong to see things differently. You have given it your best shot.

After the drama Word of Honor, he became very very popular in China. Just how popular, it is difficult to measure now. They have stopped publishing all those popularity ranking in China, so it is difficult to determine just how popular he is. I checked wikipedia. In the first half of 2021, he gained 8 million followers on Weibo. I think he must be one of the hottest male stars in China right now.

And Dilraba has always been very popular in China. So this drama will surely be a big hit in China (and worldwide) next year.

Let me explain how some of us view it. CG and Leyan are very different women. For a big part of her life, she was brought up as a tomboy, learng horse riding, archery, military strategies.

But Leyan was different. A more typical Tang Princess of those times, she was brought up more traditionally, focusing on activities like playing musical instruments, embroidary, gardening, etc. (not told in the drama, but I read up on it in Google, since Tang Princess were normally married off by the time they were about 14, in some kind of political marriage). Leyan's mother would likely have taught her how to embrace a man, but not so CG).

This is why, if you look at E38, around 7 minutes in, when AS and CG met, and AS hugged her, she did not know where to put her arms, and even retracted her hands, when AS held her hand. Yet, in the same episode, if you look their 2nd hug, it already changed. 33min 20 sec, in, when they met at the courtyard, AS hugged her, she already knew where to put her arms. She would put them around his waist area, slowly moving upward to make the embrace warmer, showing that she has gotten over her shyness in a boy-girl relationship. Immediately after that was that scene in E39, when he was shot, and she tearfully confessed her true feelings for him, while he was still lying in coma. She did not burst out in full crying mode, like during the death of ADou, because AS was merely hurt and she fully expected him to recover.

The above are some examples we saw great chemistry between the two. And then, all their beautiful one-on-one dialogues, they were absolutely beautiful to watch and listen.

If they do it well, you should get even more out of the drama

It is a pity you did not see their chemistry. Many of us saw it through the way li change progressed in the way she hugged him. It is initially very hesitant, as she was still trying to figure how to do it, as all her life, she was brought up as a tomboy. Toward the end, she embraced him more fully. And we also saw it through their eye gazes. And those sweet forehead kisses. They would have had a mouth to mouth kiss, but the male lead likely had an acting clause that did not allow him to do that

Yes, while many of the larger war battles were replaced by animations, save for one or two, the smaller scale fighting scenes in TLB were amazing. That between Sun and Sheer is really amazing, as well as the one between Sheer and Hao Du. Many of the arrow shooting scenes in the drama are the best that can be seen in either Cdramas or Kdramas.

It did!! When the MDL system broke down 10 days ago, the rating went up to 8.8 quite a few times, and I did witness it with my own eyes. But then, it fell back to 8.7. There are new people watching it all the time. If they rate it higher than 8.7, the average will surely hit 8.8

They just ran out of time and out of episodes. It was supposed to be 50 episodes, but at the last minute, without any explanation, it was cut to 49.

But it will not be difficult to speculate the ending for each of the major characters in this drama, based on the ending of Episode 48 and E49

We know that Li Changge and Ashile Sun left Tang Dynasty and went to live happily ever after in the grasslands.

Mujin, after taking revenage for Mimi, would have gone back to the Eagles division. Very likely, Ashile Sun, after taking care of business at the Eagles division, may hand over the leadership to Mujin and, in between taking care his foster father, would be following Li Changge around the grassland, looking for their next adventures.

Leyan and Haodu continued their blissful life in Tang. Wei ShuYu, still looking for his life partner.

The Monan princess Zhen Zhu went back to her father, and later, Li Changge and Ashile Sun will likely visit her. Li Changge's sifu and the old medical gentleman took care of Yuan Niang, and we are sure, they will meet up with Li Changge and Ashile Sun, when Yuan Niang is older. Xi Ba will end up with Xu Feng.

This was a great drama in so many ways. Not just in terms of entertainment, but in terms of the life lessons it brings to many of us.

I know how you feel about Mimi. You are a big contrast with a few people here several months ago. A few felt that Mimi's role in the drama was given too much air time, and that the screenwriters should have 'killed' her character much earlier, just like in the source material. They felt that she did not play any useful role, and might have rated this drama down, because her character made the drama too draggy. I was one of the few who disagreed very strongly with this view, in that I felt she played a useful role in the drama.

But even before the drama ended its airing, we had speculated that at least one of the people close to Li Changge had to die, to make the drama more realistic. We all thought that it was going to be Mimi.

This is drama has lots of fighting, with war between Tang Dynasty and the Eastern Turks as the key backdrop, and it is only realistic that some of the 'good' people had to die. And we felt that Mimi was a good candidate because she was very close to Li Changge. From the grassland arc onward, till the very end of the drama, Mimi was with Li Changge. She was Changge's constant companion. Her death will bring sadness to many people and this will cause us to remember this drama even more.

Yet, because she was not one of the key characters, we did not feel extreme sadness. In some historical dramas, they even killed the FL right at the very end and this made viewers really mad. The sadness of her death was somewhat compensated by the fact that Mujin took revenge for her and killed the guy who took her life.

I did the same, but only decided to join this comment page after the drama finished its airing. TLB is still one of the best historical dramas of 2021.

I am also watching Jun Jiu Ling, which is also quite a nice historical drama, with an interesting plot and a strong female lead

No, I am not kidding. I usually watch a lot of dramas, but in the past, I did not bother to comment. Until I watched TLB, and witnessed so many unfair comments. I felt compelled to start a MDL account and defend this wonderful drama

Yes, we do have very similar drama tastes, and we love to see Reba's acting progression. 2021 has been a great year for her, with two great dramas in TLB and YAMG. Next year would be great too, with The Blue Whisper and Legend of Anle.

We watched her transit from TLB to YAMG effortlessly, and had great chemistry with her male leads. I think we are going to see her having great chemistry with Allen Ren and Simon Gong.

But it will be at least 3-4 months before we can view TBW. So, while waiting for that drama, I just float around from one drama to another.

This would be the first time we will see her in white hair. She is going to look absolutely beautiful.

Episode 5, the main lead, Ashile Sun, fell in love with Li Changge, once he knew that Li Changge was actually a girl and not a boy. So, from Episode 5 onwards, he started to protect her.

But, Li Changge was brought up as a tomboy, she was also very young. In Episode 1, she was only about 14 years old. And she was preoccupied with trying to take revenge for the death of her parents. So, she did not reciprocate his love, till much later.

It is only in Episode 31 that she would reciprocate his love.

But you need to bear in mind. The main focus of this drama is not romance, but the character growth of the female lead, Li Changge. Her growth throughout the drama is more important than romance between her and Ashile Sun.
