Many of the plot devices there have been used in so many times in other historical dramas, even though the acting by the FL was quite good. I was totally shocked that it hit 4.79 B views in China. Which goes to show that viewers in China have rather different taste compared to us international viewers. Sometimes those tastes overlap. But often, they do not.

In Sword and the Brocade, they had a traditional marriage scene, at least one kiss scene (if I remember correctly) and even had a daughter. I think Chinese viewers like to see that kind of happy ending. Very unambiguous.

After the filming and airing of ELOD, the director mentioned that he had wanted them to do even more of those scenes. But Reba and Vengo thought that enough was enough and so the director just let it go. We might have gotten more of those steamy scenes, if the director had his way. It seems that the novel had more kissing scenes than what was in that drama.

But that drama was a great success for both Reba and Vengo. So everyone must be pretty happy.

Yes. Very much shorter than TLB. But, earlier this year, there was a drama called My Heroic Husband. Only 36 Episodes, with ML and FL that are considertable less than popular than Reba and YY. That drama ended its run with 4.35B views. Expectations were much lower than YAMG, so it surprised many people.

Here, if if YAMG can hit 4B, Tencent will be absolutely delighted. Even if 3.5B, they might still be happy. They can always blame it on the Olympics, for missing out on another 500M views.

All of her male leads, she pretty much had good chemistry with all of them. She cannot be too 'steamy' with the married male leads though, or their wives will not be able to handle that.

Hence, YAMG is no exception.
