Let keep our hopes up that this coming week, with no more Tokyo Games, and so many happy episodes coming up, YAMG will break it own one day viewing record and get around 220m views a day, for one week.
I am totally ready. With no more Olympic Games to compete against and all the happay episodes coming up, totally…
I did not watch much of it toward the end either. Enjoyed watching Allyson Felix on YouTube, getting her 11th Olympic medal, to create history in track and field. Happy for her. Now, swinging totally to YAMG. But I did not buy VIP, so will only get to watch 19, 20 on Tuesday. It is ok. I can watch all 6 on unofficial channel and then later rewatch it on official channel to support this drama.
If wou do feel that this is a great drama, do rate as high as possible. Give it 10, to support this drama. Historical…
That is great! Because this drama received low ratings intially, due to many 'haters', people who want to support their own favourite dramas or actors/actresses.
I have watched most of the dramas that you mentioned, so I roughly know your taste. Pretty similar to mine.
Before Dilraba acted in TLB, she acted in a historical drama called Eternal Love of Dream. That is quite a good one. It also has a happy ending. All of the episodes are already out, so you can binge watch the entire series. After that one, you can try Princess Silver (if you have yet to see it)
For lighter historical dramas, there are lots of them around. My Heroic Husband is quite a fun one to watch. Light and fun, plot is not as deep as TLB. I think you will like My Heroic Husband, because quite a few actors/actresses are from Joy of Life. After My Heroic Husband, you might want to try Oh My Sweet Liar and Maiden Holmes. Those are also lighter ones that might suit your taste
I heard this is a big budget project. The director worked on the Eternal Love of Dream project and the CGI there…
Yes, it is the same director. Actually, this director first worked with Reba in Eternal Love of Dream or otherwise known as The Pillow Book. While working with her on that project, he must have found her to be very good, so pulled her over to TLB. And then to The Blue Whisper. So, you can imagine, this is the third time they work together. The mutual understading must be very good. He will know how to communicate with her, to get the best out of her; and she will have no problem understanding him. This director is actually from Hong Kong, so he speaks Mandarin with Cantonese accent, which does take a bit of getting used to. Should be no problem for Reba, by now.
I just finished watching this drama yesterday and it was so beautiful. T^T Can anyone recommend other similar…

Historical dramas have many kind. What kind are you looking?? Something very similar to TLB? With some fighting scenes? Or you do not mind historical which are lighter? Like a historical romantic comedy.
I am totally ready. With no more Olympic Games to compete against and all the happay episodes coming up, totally ready for Monday. Even though they will not get together till Tuesday, Monday will still be fun to watch.
Yes, we are all very very happy that it went up from 8.6 to 8.7 a few days ago, after staying at 8.6 for several…
But, for this drama to hit 8.8 or 8.9 is quite beyond our control. It is all in the hands of new viewers. If they feel that this is great, they will rate it 9 and above, and the average will move up. If you have friends in China who have already watched this drama, and they really love it, you can ask them to start a MDL account, and rate it 9 or even 10. That will help the average to move up.
It is nice to see you here too. Are you amazed how easily Reba transit from acting in an historical drama to a…
I see! Previously, I focused mainly on her historicals. When she moved from ELOD to Love Designer, I did not even watch Love Designer, after reading all the bad comments. This time, after TLB, seeing her vastly improved acting, I decided to follow her to YAMG. Kind of new experience for me.
Is it dubbed? The other dramas I've seen with Dilraba have all been dubbed, so I assume her accent isn't "standard"…
In Dilraba's historical dramas, they are all dubbed by professional dubbers, because those dramas are rather long. Her accent is pretty standard. Anyone proficient in Mandarin in China can understand her when she is being interviewed, though at times, she speaks quite fast, and it would be easier to understand her with English sub (for international people like us).
But, having her dub her own voice would be more time consuming and more expensive. She is a big star with lots of other stuff waiting for her to do. Hence, post production (meaning after the filming is done), in the studio, professional dubbers will do a voice over. These dubbers are very good. And, they are much 'cheaper' than Dilraba, For other actors, dubbing is also done because their accent isn't standard, but that is not the case for Reba.
Here, in YAMG, because many of the scenes were filmed outside, there will be 'external' noise (e.g, traffic, etc), which they don't really want viewers to hear. So during filming, all the actors/actresses spoke with their own voices, and then, back in studio, after filming is done, they do a voice over, using their own voice. This is possible for modern dramas, because they are usually shorter than historical drama. And here in YAMG, you will see that there are a number of episodes where she is not shown. If she were to dub her own voice in scenes where she is shown, there are not all many (compared to an historical with her in the leading role, where she will be around majority of the episodes).
Hence, if by dubbing, if you are referring to doing voice-over post production, yes, all the voices here were dubbed. If you are asking whether what we are hearing in this drama is Dilraba real voice, then it is as well. She very likely dubbed her own voice, in a studio, post production.
This is for China. And for the 18 Episodes thus far. Each time somone watches a single episode, counted as 1 view. So, up to now, if that person watches 18 episodes, that is counted as 18. So, if you take 1.5 B and divide by 18, you get around 83,333,333. So, roughly 83 million people in China have watched all the episodes thus far. Or, it could be mixture. Around 167 million, each watching 9 episodes.
I believe that is how they do the viewership count in China.
If it stands at 1.5B currently, it will end around 3B views two weeks from now. From a commercial standpoint,…
My pleasure. Viewers in China and international viewers often have different taste. YAMG seems to have met the taste of many foreign viewers. But, in China, it seems to have missed the mark. Perhaps because of the Games in Tokyo or what, we don't know.
Next week, the Games in Tokyo is no longer a good excuse, because it already ended.
When this drama is done and dusted in 2 weeks, and they did not get at least 4B, the producer, screenwriter and director will all need to sit down and see what went wrong. I do not think it has anything to do with Reba and Yang Yang. Their acting is great!
They cannot totally blame the Olympic Games either. There are a couple of things that did not go well.
