It is quite common for historical Chinese dramas to be around 49 episodes. Some are even longer, with 55 or more episodes. Having bad guys and bad events are also very common in historical drama. By the way, not sure if you were aware? But the event in E2 was a real historical event.

Audience response varies. Some of us wanted even more, when this drama ended at 49. We were expecting 50, when it was cut to 49 at the last minute.

I laughed when I read your comment. Quite humourous. Ok, there were a few things she was asked to do by the production team. Dilraba, the actress, was asked to walk, talk and sit like a man would. If you contrast her mannarisms with that Leyan, you might see some of the differences.

That is why many of the soldiers from the Ashile troops could not tell that she was a women, till she had her first period at the grasslands. And many of the soldiers in Tang also could not tell that she was women. Only those who were highly observant did.

For many of us here, leaving this drama and this page is going to be very very difficult. We have been here for 3 months. And many are still rewatching an episode of it every now and then, whenever we get the withdrawal symptoms.

Since you are already watching YAMG, you should continue with that. As for her previous dramas, she did shine in Eternal Love of Dream. Her previous modern drama that did really well was Pretty Li Hui Zhen. That was more like a comedy.

But watch out for her new up and coming historical dramas, The Blue Whisper (this will be out early next year) and The Legend of Anle (this will be out maybe around August of next year).

As Biri Biri noted, many of us have been here for months, as we love TLB so much. Very rare to come across a drama this good.

Oh, I was suggesting that, in China, the combined fandom of Cheng Yi and Zhang Yuxi should be no match for the combined fandom of Dilraba and Yang Yang.

In terms of acting ability for drama, I do feel that Dilraba has already proven herself. Many of her dramas have viewership in the billions. She just need a big hit as the female lead in a movie. In terms of acting skills, those two medium must present different challenges, so not many actresses can excel in both.

Even Zhang Ziyi. no one will argue that she is a good actress. But she gained fame mainly from all her movies. There is no question that those movies were of international standards and she fully deserve all the accolades she received. However, even for an actress of her standing, when she tried to dabble in drama, it did not fair all that well in a recent drama.

So, is Dilraba trying to get to the Four Dan status by concentrating on dramas, the way some actresses prefer to focus on movies?? Also, she is an Uyghur. In any kind of voting, there is always hidden bias against her when she is compared to Han Chinese actresses. The odds will always be stacked against her. when she is compared to actresses like Yang Zi and Zhou Dongyu.

Perhaps that will all change, given what happened to Zheng Shuang. When journalists, critics, etc., look at an actresses in future, they will also consider the social impact these actresses have on society, whether they represent the kind of values the Chinese authorities would like to see, and are good role models for young people in China. Many people in China are already aware of the kind of positive impact she is having on her fans, in terms of engaging in socially desirable behavior.

Thus far, she must have made many of the minority ethnic groups in China very proud. When people look at her name, Dilraba Dilmurat, and have that very un-Chinese name mentioned alongside Han Chinese names of famous Chinese actresses, Chinese people across the spectrum of all the minor ethnic groups must feel really proud. The same way Barrack Obama make all African Americans proud.

There are just so many way of ranking or classifying actresses. Ranking actresses by influence, Dilraba is currently number 1 according to the Power Star ranking.

If it is purely a battle of fans between YAMG and DOC, YAMG should win out by Monday night, China time. If 'neutrals' come into the picture, that may complicate things. I think no need to worry too much, as another historical is currently airing in China. That one, the female lead is quite popular in China. So, the two historicals should fight with each other, leaving YAMG alone, so YAMG should be number 1 again.

Dream of Chang'an just released today? That is usually the case in China. New dramas will get lots of attention. Also, YAMG has no new episodes since last Wed. When the new episodes are aired in China tomorrow night, they will regain the lead.

It is actually nice to have competition for YAMG. May just invigorate Reba and Yang Yang's fans in China.

Edit: Caught an episode of Dream of Chang'an. Looks like a decent show. Those who love historical will like it. I think it will be battle of the fans in China. Will be interesting to see which groups win.

I think your interpretation is correct. I was not quite sure, so I checked with my auntie. She said likely refer to younger actresses, yet to bloom (just like small flower).

I think the context might also explain the meaning. Perhaps an older person might tell a younger actress, "You are just a small flower" and used that term condescendingly to tell the other person, you are still young, still a lot of things to learn.

It is true that TLB is so unique, it should be a drama with its unique classification. It is a kind of historical with some wuxia. and super strong female lead. But Luicilla is looking for something with happy ending, and likely some fighting scenes. Princess Silver has it. The FL lead there was a child actress. She must be quite famous in China. She can fight too and some of the fight sequences are pretty decent. And plot is fairly interesting.

They are pretty smart. In YouTube, just give you those short clips. Want you pay to watch the entire episode. But if we are willing to wait, can watch it without paying.

Yeah. As RSM noted above, Dilraba has a very distinctive voice. This clearly is her real voice in YAMG. Very different from what you hear in TLB and ELOD.

I am new to YY, but comparing his voice in the drama and that in those BTS, sure sound like his own voice.
