I love how this drama isn't your typical fluffy sweet romcom. It's more realistic but remains cute and tells a…
They controlled the amount and the type of humour really well in this drama (through BGM and the dialogue and body language of the various actors). You can tell, when there are comedic moments, they are not the kind of high school humour we see in a typical rom-com drama. It is a brand of humour catered more for adult viewers, rather than teenagers. And they try not to inject too much humour, because this is a serious drama, with just the right amount of humour to relieve our tireness from watching lots of the serious scenes.
They are likely to keep to this formula in the coming episodes, to send the message that this is not your typical high school romcom. Not even a rom-com for adult viewers, but a serious drama dealing with real life issues. Comedy is just a sprinkle, to add variety of flavour and inject some fun into our viewing pleasure.
I think Jin Chen (Xia Qing) is all natural. You can look up her childhood photos and see for yourself. Also she…
I think she came across as looking different from her previous dramas due to the make up they gave to her in those scenes when Xia Qing met YT at the hotel and had drinks. I doubt she had any surgery done to her face.

Yes, there are many reports about those camps, mainly from western media. We do not know the real truth, because so far, the Chinese authorities have refused to allow independent people to go and look at what is happening there in those 'camps'. The Chinese said they are being educated, western press said abused.
But Dilraba is very good. She is totally behind the Chinese government and would always stand up against those western press. When some western companies spoke up against Xinjiang cotton, she was one of the first to speak up for the Chinese government, and even cut ties with Adidas, one of the products that she endorses, likely giving up lots of money in the process.
Therefore, we do not need to worry about her career. Apart from the fact that she is beautiful, a great actress, she is also their best spokesperson, against the western press, because she is from Xinjiang. We can be assured that none of her dramas will ever be banned in China.
She knows how to take care of her private life really well and does not get into any kind of scandal. Her clean image explains why so many companies want her to endorse their products. Especially many western companies. They feel that her unique look makes her standout against all the Han Chinese models. Even the very famous Japanese pearl company, Mikimoto, made her their spokesperon for the last two years. They feel that her character reflects well on the image of their product.
At the HS reunion right? I hope there's more then 2.
We do not need to worry one bit. As long as there is a kiss, and the director is good with his camera angle, it will be fine. Dilraba is a very good kisser. Those kissing scenes will send viewers into overdrive.

Dilraba is not a Han Chinese. You can actually tell just by her name, that she is not a Han Chinese. She is an Uyghur, from Xinjiang. Xinjiang is part of China, but ethnically, she is an Uyghur. You will need to google to find out about their history. They have a bit of mixed blood, that is why she has such unique features.
Honestly I didn't know the novel but I was expecting fluffy, mindless idol romance but man I was surprised by…
Ok. I found the video. Weibo night 2020. She said it in a few seconds, she did not elaborate and the interviewer did not ask any follow up questions. My interpretation of what she meant, unlike QJJ, she wants some privacy and not too much public attention and be in the spotlight all the time. Ok, this is the feeling of many celebrities. Some do not mind getting attention all the time. But other celebrities prefer to have less media or public attention. Like, when they go out, they do not have to wear sunglasses or caps to hide their faces. They could just walk into a supermarket and shop just like an ordinary person, and not have people snapping photos of her all the time. I think that is what she meant, in contrast to QJJ.
It is not anything big. By now, Reba should be used to all the media and public attention. There will be very very few people in China who do not recognise her face. In real life, she will indeed need an assistant to help buy stuff from supermarket, or else she will be swarmed by ordinary shopper who want to take pictures of her or want her to sign autographs. Either that, or she will need to wear a cap and sunglasses, to hide face.
There are many many people like you here. May or not have watched a single Yang Yang drama, but followed Dilraba…
Don't worry. Among many other acting skills, she is a good kisser. She has done many of those kind of scenes in her other dramas, and viewers have always been very satisfied.

I am not sure if they do this kind of show to intentionally send a message to the Chinese government. But, any top government official who watched this drama cannot but walk away from it feeling a bit chastised. That people who bring such glory to China are earning so little they are afraid they cannot provide good healthcare for family members. It is a subtle message of rubuke, but some of those top government should get that message. It is soft sell and an indirect approach to bring issues regarding the national aerospace programme in China out into the open. The question is, did any of top brass from the Chinese government who decide on pay issues watch this drama? In China, decision making is top down. If the top people are not convinced, nothing moves.
- don't watch just for romance -- do watch for everything else
It is too bad they did not mention anything about character growth or development in the description up there. When they produced this drama, they placed character growth ahead of romance.

Totally agree with you. Apart from those things you mentioned, China wants to use its aerospace technology to show to the world that they are on par with the US, to land spacecraft on Mars and so on. They should definitely pay these people well enough to support family and all. Why should they make all the sacrifices only for Chinese leaders to look good against the Americans. If they bring glory to China, they should be well rewarded. Only fair.
Am I the only one who is liking aerospace content here, because it is new to watch in cdramas
Actually, quite a few people here have found those aerospace scenes quite interesting. Even if not a lot, at least a few. Scroll through the pages here and you will find those people.

China is a socialist country after all, which believes in leveling thigns up socially. I think they are taxing all the people in the entertainment industry heavily, because those people are making big bucks. They can raise the salaries of people with jobs like YT's.
Honestly? In the drama, when QJJ marries YT, their marriage would have levelled things up, when she uses her money to support his dream. In real life, I am not sure Reba will marry an aerospace engineer. But whoever she does marry, there is a very high chance that she will making more money than her future husband.
I am very sure that is the case in the US. A successful top notch US actress is going to make more money than the highest level engineer or even top management people at NASA. Only people who makes more money than those in the entertainment industry are business owners in the private sector.

Totally agree with your post, except a slight modification to the very last phrase. This is a romance drama after all, last phrase could be 'finds his own woman."?? or 'finds the woman of his dream."

That is very true. Compared to 2020, her popularity will soar this year. And will continue to go even higher in 2022. Unless she marries a rich Chinese businessman, or an extremely popular male actor in China, her future husband will be earning less than her.
But she has made it clear. She is not ready for marriage. Not right now. Too busy charging ahead in her career. I think she wants to make enough, so that if something should go wrong with her marriage, she is rich enough to walk away from it without any fear. She will not be held ramsom by her future husband, from a financial point of view.

Yes, indeed. We are not sure how much Jaywalk will benefit from her success. Maybe 10%? They already have so many successful actresses and actors in Jaywalk. If everyone just give them 10%, Jaywalk should still making a lot of money ever year. And yes, after what happened to Fan bingbing, Reba will definitely need to be careful about paying the rightful amount of income tax. Not sure how high is that. Regardless, she must be one of the highest earners in all of Xinjiang.
Ok, yesterday it was 1.32B? So, 110m views were added in 1 day? Next week, daily added view needs to be around 220m a day, in order for YAMG to hit 4B. Or else we will miss the target.

Oh, in that case, there is nothing to worry at all. The story is really quite good and the acting by the two leads very good, so you will really feel their romance.
This is not the love at first sight kind of romance, so you need to keep watching and not give up. Their love story will blossom once everything clears up.

In real life, I expect Reba to make a lot a lot of money cause she is like the endorsement queen in China.
The article you cited is bit dated, but I will not be surprised if Reba makes about US $ 10m a year and above.
