wow can't believe the day has come loli know it took so long to get to this point but now i have hope for 8.8…
It finished its run just a few months ago. There are many international viewers yet to see this. When they do and come here to rate it like around 9 and above, it can go up to 8.8.
Honestly I didn't know the novel but I was expecting fluffy, mindless idol romance but man I was surprised by…
The Blue Whisper could be out by early next year. Which exact month, hard to tell. But Legend of Anle will be out later. They are still filming it at this moment. So likely to see it after August 2022.
Both of those have very strong female leads, just like TLB. All of us who loved TLB should love those 2 dramas.
Good. If next week's episodes can totally charm all the viewers in China, can hit 4B, by the time the drama ends, or before the next big modern Cdrama hit the screen.
I have till now really loved this show and after reading all the conversations below about the game controversary…
1. There is a viewer here by the name of Amastris Dratwka. A few days ago, she did an analysis, comparing what a person like Yu Tu in the story will make, with the job he is currently holding, and compared that to an investment banking job, should he changed job. And she found that it is huge. Others then talked about Yu Tu having to pay for the loan on his house, and then the drama did show that he was really worried, if his mother really did fall ill, will he be able to find the best medical treatment for her. So, all his financial concerns were indeed real.
2. I did not read the novel, before watching this show. Not sure how his money fear will be resolved, because it seems that he has decided to remain in his current job. Will he get a promotion? Will the government revise salaries upward? I do not know and don't want to know, because I would rather watch the drama and let it tell me the story.
Maybe he finally realise that it is not a shameful thing to marry a rich and successful actress. Asian society has a strange way of looking at things. It is ok, with rich guy marrying a poor girl, and the girl just born babies and take care of children and things at home and so on. This is very old fashioned Confucian thinking that originated more than a thousand years ago, but has continued to hold sway in many Confucianistic societies like China, Japan and Korea.
But things are changing very rapidly. In China, successful actresses make obsence amount of money. The same thing is happening in Korea, and, I suspect, also in Japan.
So QJJ is likely to make 10 times (if not more) than what Yu Tu makes. Chinese society no longer looks down on actors and actreses. They are idolised. Hence, YT can simply marry her, if he truly loves her. She can use her money to 'finance' his dream of being a successful person in his industry. He will not need to worry about housing issues. QJJ can afford a big house. If his mother does fall ill and needs money to get the best treatment, QJJ will use every cent of her money to take care of her, because once married, she will be her mother-in-law. It will be a marriage made in heaven, as long as they truly love each other.
Going forward, if that is the way the script is written, I think many people will be happy to watch this drama, because we are living in the 21st Century. It is not a shameful thing for successful wives to take care of the financial burden of their husbands.
This drama was aired quite a while ago. If you watched 8 episodes when it was first shown, you might want to re-watch some of those 8 episodes again, just to refresh yourselves what happened during those episodes. If you still remember lots of it, you can just begin watching E9
Honestly I didn't know the novel but I was expecting fluffy, mindless idol romance but man I was surprised by…
You should. There are some gaming scenes. If you are into gaming, those scenes will be great for you. If not, you can forward some of those scenes and not really lose too much. There are also some aerospace scenes. If you are into rockets and satellites, you will love those. Find those boring, can also fast forward some of those scenes. But, never forward anything that has the two leads in any serious conversations, either them together or them alone. Anything that pertains to their relationship you must watch, as it is a key part of the context of their romance.
Honestly I didn't know the novel but I was expecting fluffy, mindless idol romance but man I was surprised by…
I did not read the novel before I watched YAMG. People who did read the novel said QJJ is Reba and Reba is QJJ, in their character. Fun loving, cute, down to earth, can relate to common people. At the same time, she can be serious, if the situation calls for it.
She got cast in those silly FL soles, guess she had no choice. But, good thing, acting ins those roles (not sure if you are thinking Baifengjiu in TMOPB) got her a lot of attention. Which then got her better roles, the best being her role as Li Changge in TLB. Her performance there will likely convince many other producers and directors that can nail serious roles.
I think it is now quite clear that for historical dramas, she likes to portray strong female roles who can fight and think on their own, who does not need help from the ML all the time.
For modern dramas, she can easily pull serious roles, with a sprinkle of mature humour here and there.
She can do crying scenes really well. At the TLB, she was crying so much at one of the scenes (that called for portrayal of great sadness), the director had to tell her to stop crying and leave that for another scene where she had to cry even more.
In YAMG QJJ is my fav character and Reba nailed this role perfectly. There were comments before the drama starts…
There are many many people like you here. May or not have watched a single Yang Yang drama, but followed Dilraba from TLB, to this drama. We know what she is capable of, from watching the TLB, what kind of emotions she is able to display with her face, eyes, her tears, etc. But our view may biased, as biased as those who watched Love020 and followed Yang Yang to YAMG, and prefer the FL lead in Love020 to play QJJ.
Who is a good person to judge? Yang Yang isn't it?? He acted with that FL in Love020. He knows what she is capable of. And now he acted with Dilraba in YAMG. Someone here mentioned, in a BTS Yang Yang says that in real life Dilraba is just like QJJ. To me, Yang Yang said Dilraba interpreted and acted out the QJJ character so well, even off screen Yang Yang sees so much of QJJ in Dilraba. Dilraba is QJJ and QJJ is her (in character).
Given the scandal that engulfed the other actress, the producer, screenwriter and director must all be very happy they did not choose her.
Another group of unbiased judge will be people who have not watched a single of Reba's drama, not a fan of any of Reba's younger acting rivals, but have read Gu Man novel of the same name. They will be able tell if Reba portrayed the QJJ character well.
Honestly I didn't know the novel but I was expecting fluffy, mindless idol romance but man I was surprised by…
Oh? I see! That is rather interesting. I only read that she said she is different from QJJ, because she would never want to get married by 29. I interpret that to mean that, Reba is afraid that once she get married, she will never get to act again or do all the things she has been doing ever since she joined the entertainment industry.
But I am rather surprised she said sometimes she doesn't want to be found. She should know, before she joined the industry, that the life of QJJ is what her life will be like. That as a celebrity, she will be hounded by fans, will have to do countless of interviews to promote her dramas, etc.
I am interpreting her desire not to be found to mean that she does not really want all those attention around her, being an actress and a celebrity. That she wants lots of privacy. I do find this to be somewhat contradictory, because she seems so willing do all those kind of stuff. Remember her birthday celebration not too long ago? Even in the midst of her busy schedule, she would record interviews for her fans.
Did she even explain what she meant by not wanting to be found? And if she did, was that what she meant, by not wanting to be found? She does not want all that kind of attention around her life? I am curious.
Perhaps she just meant her life right now is just way too hectic and she would value some quiet time alone or some rest. If that is what she meant, she is not going to get it. Not while she is extremely popular now. Endorsement deal after endorsement deal. Drama role offer, one after another non-stop.
You know, she is still rather young. Not hitting 30 yet. Maybe she is still trying to find herself. What would be the ideal balance in her life.
Oh how can we feel so much the same. This is a comment as if you have extend a microphone to my thoughts (and…
This drama does appeal to people who like complex plot and complex characters. It makes you sit up and think, why would this person would want to do this or that. Especially, for Li Changge. We had lots of people who came here and comment that she was just a spoiled Tang Princess, constantly getting herself into trouble, and would have been dead long ago, if not for Ashile Sun. These people likely did not fully understand her character.
Many did not even know that she was merely 14 years old, in E1. But those who did, and understood that she was highly intelligent, self-confident very much a risk taker, could relate to the younger Li Changge, who wanted to take revenge on her own, but would quickly understand her limitations and try to gather more resources to do that, and would later even totally gave up on wanting to take revenge at all.
Her journey in life was totally fun to watch and superbly acted out by Dilraba.
And that is only for Li Changge. Add that to the charming Ashile Sun, we really have a totally unique couple in Chinese drama. One with total trust in his lady, who would one day become his wife.
Once we get hooked to this kind of storyline, it is indeed hard to find another drama this good.
Honestly I didn't know the novel but I was expecting fluffy, mindless idol romance but man I was surprised by…
From the way you have described, it will be hard not to notice that you love the QJJ character. Someone here mentioned, Yang Yang said that in real life, Dilraba is very similar to the character QJJ that we see in this drama. No wonder she plays it so naturally. The only differene between Reba in real life and QJJ in the drama will be, in real life Reba would never talk about her beauty the way QJJ talks about hers. I do think she is a rather humble person, in real life.
But QJJ is rather unashamed about talking up her beauty (in private, of course). I think this is the way her character is written, she is very confident about her looks, knows that the average person, girl or guy, would find her beautiful. She makes no apologies for their perception and privately, in front of her manager, assistant, ex-classmates, etc. would often let them know that she is fully aware that people find her beautiful and she herself feels that she is indeed beautiful. It is what gives her confidence, when she interacts with others.
Other than that, I think the character QJJ is indistinguishable from the real life Reba. Difficult not to like QJJ, except for fans of her rivals.
But Reba in real life is a bit different. In one interview, she said she felt insecure about her looks, when people said she does not look sufficiently Chinese, especially when playing historical roles. She even considered turning down playing Li Changge at one point, and needed to be persuaded to play that role by the producer or the director.
Many of us here fully agree with you, that a drama as good as this is not getting the attention in China that…
A martial sword dance by Reba would be great. But she usually does not do that kind of dance. Not sure if she can pull it off well or how a martial art sword dance will fit in with that Covid-19 dance theme. That dance was really comical and fun to watch.
Yes, they really acted very well, with all those eye gazes, the way they look at each others and all that. So, the lack of kisses really does not bother me at all. Kisses are a rather 'cheap' way of showing romance. I think they did was far cuter and sweeter. A lot of people here commented about that tree scene and it was indeed a very sweet scene, the two of them, in the middle of no where, just enjoying a sweet private conversation.
Oh, that comment purge?? You were here when the MDL did that? Ripping about a week of our comments??Boy, those were sads days indeed. Many here were so angry!! And it took days for us to recover. But we did. We understood what they were trying to do. And now, this place is much better. It is smoother and does not get jammed up
Yes, Biri Biri does have a unique name, so it is rather difficult to forget.
I do think this place is a bit of a fluke. A chance occurance. Just a chance meeting of people with very similar taste for a particular kind of drama, and TLB was that kind of drama. And, we did have a few people back then, about 2-3 months, all were very vocal, coming here to comment all the time. Just kept coming back here with new things to talk about this drama. And everyone was just so civil and nice to each other.
The comments kept piling up, and now we are at 32K. Just amazing!
It just happened a minute ago. I am as surprised as you are. Been 8.6 for months. Wonder what happened.
Yes, indeed, it is very hard to move from 8.6 to 8.7, in MDL. This forum became quite quiet a few weeks ago. But, for some reasons, TLB attracted many new viewers who were also the chatty type. And suddenly, it just woke up from a sleep became somewhat active again.
If you were 2 months, ago, this place was just crazy. Comments were just flying off the shelf. We have something like few hundreds a day!! So much so, if you leave the forum for 1-2 hours, you cannot even find your own comments.
Now, even if you leave, and come back in a week, if you scroll down a short while, you can find your own comments.
Oh how can we feel so much the same. This is a comment as if you have extend a microphone to my thoughts (and…
I see!! That's good, I mean good to concentrate on your studies. Comment, only when you free. Because thinking of what to say and tying messages here does take time. And, at one stage, the comment section was so busy, people became really addicted to this section. So, you must be glad you did not join in.
May just take a while.
Both of those have very strong female leads, just like TLB. All of us who loved TLB should love those 2 dramas.

So glad the censors cleared this drama, before this became an issue. Or else, they may well ban YAMG. And now, so glad the gaming scenes are over.
