My view? Just terrible screenwriting. Gu Man should have balanced everything up over the last many episodes. The end result of what she is doing now is to make one group of fans angry at a time. Last 4, she made Reba fans angry and next few, if she made it too JJ-focused, YY fans will be angry.
Some of you will say, that is the way the novel is written. Who cares about the novel? This is drama. She should adapt. Drama need not be a photocopy of the novel, no matter how good the novel is. That is what you mean by adaptation: Adapt to suit the taste of viewers, because unlike those characters in the novel, which do not have fans, actors and actresses in dramas do.
I pin it on the lack of experience by Gun Man. She only write scripts for her own novels, and the last time she did screenwriting was for Love020, 5 years ago. So maybe a bit rusty. Either that or heavy adaptions will take too much time and she just took the easy way out. Follow everything in the book, scene for scene, all the dialogue word for word, and it will be a piece of cake for her! She will get paid by Tencent, end of story.
About all those aerospace stuff, just as some of the game stuff was used to promote Honor of Kings, the latest four used to promote China aerospace. Many of you noted that there were more aerospace stuff in the drama compared to the novel, and we are not surprised.
This drama truly is made for the China market. Lots of people there would not mind all those game scenes, because millions play that game in China. And lots of people in China would not mind all the aerospace stuff because it is great for the Chinese aerospace industry. They are very nationalistic now. China wants to show to the west that they are as good as the US in deep space exploration, and this drama is great for that kind of propaganda. China has just landed a rover on Mars, and they are really proud of that, so all the people in the Chinese communist party must love this drama. As one of you noted, in the last four episodes, the rover has more air time than QJJ.
Am I angry at the last 4 episodes? Hardly. After the crying scene of QJJ, I put everything on fast forward mode. Saved tons of time. A 30 min episode just became around 10-15 mins max.
Have no worries. This drama is 10/10 for me. I came to see Reba's acting and YY's acting. Rest of the stuff? Totally not interested. Storyline? Razor thin. So I just rated this drama based on how well the two leads carried this drama, and I was not disappointed.
My advice to all? Anything boring in future, just fast forward. You will not miss anything important because the main plot of this drama is very simple.

Not sure which is your favourite scene, but mine is the Snow Walk scene in E15, when she walked out to surrender to the Ahsile troops. It kind of capture Li Changge bravery, how she walked so calmly, completely unarmed, completely alone, to face thousands of those troops, all fully armed, and all very much ready to want to kill her, because she was responsible for the deaths of many of their soldiers. And then the shock she received, when she realised that Ashile Sun is actualy Ah Zhun, someone whom she thought was a friend, out to protect her. She was already so sad, from the death of A'Dou and Kongsun couple. Yet, here she was facing another layer of sadness, in being deceived by a friend, who hid his identity from her for so long. But, at this moment, we, the international viewers, are not the most important people to the producer of this drama. The most important people are still the viewers in China. They are still the 'king'. If they do not find this drama boring, the producer will not be too concerned. But, if they do find this drama boring, the producer is in trouble.

By professing that they love the novel, or some even say they love the drama, they try to make us feel that they are on our side, when they are actually out to attack this drama and the two star leads. Not surprised to read an article like this. Lots of people could be envious YAMG is doing so well in China. What they (those in Tencent, in particular) need to do is to express it publicly, with evidence, that no one is forced to watch this drama.
Chinese authorities are now a bit concerned about young people spending too much time playing video games. One article even claimed that Honor of Kings, the game used in this drama, is played by young people for hours and hours a day, calling it 'spiritual opium'.
And Tecent is now putting in place measures to prevent very young people from playing too many of these games. They are doing it on their own, for fear that if they do not, Chinese authorities will come down hard on them, and the consequences will be even wores.

If you find the plot totally new and novel, it could well be you are young and have not watched sufficient dramas.
