Please do not be overly disturbed. This is just the result of diferent tastes and different interpretations of stuff; that is perfectly normal. It happens to every drama. Even some of the very best ones.

But, to be totally honest, the plot for this drama is rather simple. Even if you skip all the games scenes and many of the aerospace scene, you can still appreciate this drama. There is no need to say this drama is not for you. Because the game is used a plot device, to let them meet, play games and develop their relationship. The game itself, if you do not understand and find it boring, skipping those scene, you did not lose much.

Likewise, all the aerospace scenes. Or even some of the hospital stuff. Friends suffering from cancer is hardly new, as a plot device.

The real juice of this drama is the relationship between YT and QJJ. As long you understand all the major plot or storyline, this drama is still fantastic, because of the two great actors.

After watching so far, do you understand the major plot of this drama?

Actually, anyone around 22 or so should be able to relate to this drama. By 22, most individuals would have graduated, gone to work, have some work experience and be able to relate to this drama.

If you are referring to E15-16, I totally agree with you. Way too Yu Tu focused, both on him and his circle of friends. The lack of variety in these two episodes do tend to make them boring (except for all the YY fans).

I put it down to poor screenwriting. If I am not wrong, Gu Man mainly writes the script for all her books. She does not do it for other novels, novels which she did not write. And the last drama that she wrote the script for was Love020, five years ago. So, she could well be 'rusty'.

No question about it. Acting cute via intentional mis-statements or like the scene you mentioned, very few can beat her. You could say, it is her forte or her rice bowl. But in TLB, she showed she can act serious really well too. And here in YAMG, she is doing the same thing. In the same drama, she can portray cuteness and seriousness.

I do not know if the Japanese guy is a big star. But judging from the way you mentioned, he has to be. But I do know that Kim Tae-hee is a mega star in Korea, and whatever she touches turns to gold.

The novel that this drama is based on, YAMG, was published in 2017, so if that j-k drama was done very long ago, then there is no question the author of YAMG might have taken some inspiration from the earlier book or drama.

Hence, plot wise, YAMG is not unique. People have used this kind of stuff before. But, what is truly important will be our two mega stars in YAMG. If they can deliver big time like Kim Tae-hee and Nishijima Hidetoshi, YAMG will be a huge hit in China and worldwide.

In Hollywood history, it has happened before. Movies with simple story line have gone on to become unexpected mega hit, because of the amazing chemistry between the two leads. Love Story (1970), starring Ali McGraw and Ryan O'Neal, comes to mind.

So far, our two leads are doing great!

Is this in the drama or novel or both? Regardless, we can tell this is an intentional mistake. To create humour. And Dilraba is really good in delivering this sort of line, to create humour. She is cuteness, personified. If QJJ in the novel is both successful, yet down to earth, and downright cute, then no wonder so many novel readers say this role is customised for her.

There are so many spams because the drama is doing really well. And the two leads are very popular. On the girl side, it is well know that there are lots of people who do not like Dilraba. The more successful she and her dramas are, the less successful will be the dramas, and actresses they are supporting. I think it will be the same of Yang Yang haters as well.

Hence, lots of haters quietly rated this drama down. Not just down, but down by a lot!

While I like to agree with you that our big stars have large fan base, those haters, both in China and worldwise, are not to be underestimated too. They are rather powerful. So, it is like a powerful struggle between the two: haters of YAMG and lovers of this drama (and our two stars).

The raters per se will not harm the drama, Reba and YY directly. But if would be viewers do use ratings as a proxy to look for dramas to watch, then it poses a problem. Apart from the ratings, some haters also drop very disparaging comments and naive readers may just be misled by those comments and avoid this drama.

So, we cannot sit by and do nothing. We need to let everyone be aware of this. So that viewers who watched this and liked it, may rate it really high (like as close to 10 as possible). This way, the rating will keep going up. If not, the rating will get stuck at 8.5.

He does feel somewhat inferior after the competition. He can see that QJJ is so popular, so famous, so successful. Making so much money. While he is struggling somewhat financially.

You can see the scene right after the competition. He was all alone in that room. As if even if he disppears, no one will care. But QJJ is wanted everywhere. By her fans, by the game developer's representative, manager talking about extending her endorsement contract for the game, etc.

Even beginning scene of E15, you can see that in the car QJJ is always so busy on the phone. Lots of people to talk to, while he is just sitting there looking glum.

So, when she approached him to start a girlfriend-boyfriend relationship, he felt inferior.

China is a male dominated society. And he is a guy with that mentality, thinking that he needs to be able to offer something to her, before he can be worthy of her and start a relationship.

But, he is lacking the awareness that the Chinese society is changing. Women are now very successful too. Especially successful female actress like QJJ. In real life, these successful actresses make tons of money. In the drama, it is the same thing.

Hence, he needs his former professor to tell him, it is ok. He should not feel this way. He should feel proud of himself, being an aerospace engineer. He can be worthy of her. No need to worry about the salary dfferences between what he is making and what she is making.

If we think about it, this is indeed the case. Because it was QJJ who approached him. This shows that she does not really care about their differences in salary. Nor even differences in fame and popularity. She does not like him for his money, because she has plenty of those. She likes him, because she just appreciates him for who he is, and wants to support him in his dream.

He said they are in a different world, but she does not care about that. The differences in their status, the amount of money they made, those are not important to her. That is why she was willing to swallow her pride and approached him the 2nd time.

And that is also why she felt so much pain in the second rejection, that after such a long time, how come he still does not understand her good intention, her good personality of not looking down on people who earn less than her.

So, that is where we are up to E16.

Ah! Just looking forward to scenes like those next week! Whenever they are together, absolutely wonderful to watch.

Need to temper our expectations. Last night, there was no competition in viewership from the Olympic games in Tokyo, Japan. Chinese team was not competing. With no competition, the views went up sky high.

No sure about tonight. If there is big table tennis match involving the Chinese, then there will be competition, and viewership for tonight may not be so high.

But it is ok. Those who watch the games, can still watch the drama tomorrow. If so, viewership for tonight may not be super high, but high enough. And then, the next day, it will still be high, because those who missed it tonight, will still watch it on Thursday.

So, we could well be looking at 150m tonight, and then another 150m on Thursday. Their combined number will still be great for YAMG.

Absolutely no question about this. And she keeps getting better and better, with each drama she acts in. There is no holding back her career.

Don't worry too much about it. You are not alone. Lots of people just skip lots of those technical aerospace stuff. Hospital stuff also can skip or fast forward. Just look forward to coming episodes when YT and QJJ will get together.

You have just described what many of us have felt for months!! If you look at the comments number, it says 32k plus. That is how crazy this comments section is, because so many of us loved this drama to death.
We just came here to exchange views about all the characters that you have mentioned. And the more we talked about them, the more we loved them.

It has been months, yet some of us are still here.

By the way, I did not mean to suggest to remove all the game scenes and aerospace totally. I said cut more of those stuff, meaning reduce some of those scenes. They are still needed to create the context for the drama.

They will. Not to worry. Just focus on their romance. Totally no need to watch the game stuff or the aersopace stuff. We already understand why they broke up. Now, just look forward to them coming together. Get married and live happily after.

Oh dear! Wish I can do that, but I can't. Watching them once nearly bored me to death. Watching twice will most certainly kill me. For the aerospace scenes, I just focus on all the important conversations between Yu Tu and his ex-prof and his boss. Those are important to understand the plot. The rest, I just fast forward.

I know my wish list will not come true, so basically describing how I cope with the drama. That is what the above post is all about.

Jessica, let me share with you how I deal with this. And I hope you will not be offended. For me, the plot for this drama is very simple. Far far simpler compared to a historical drama.

Even before the drama began, I read all the comments here, I could see where the plot is going. While aerospace is used in this drama, the plot is hardly rocket science. Basically, Yu Tu having career issues, money issues, etc. Very depressed. Everyone can see that from his facial expressions. And then QJJ came into his life and became his support system. That is crux of the story. Totally simple. And, nothing wrong with being simple. Simple can be sweet. Simple just means easy to understand.

And watching all the episodes thus far, I will say supporting cast is all great. Especially QJJ's manager. I know what these actors and actresses are capable of, but I don't really want to them appearing all the time. This drama is already very short. If they appear too often, there will be less screen time for the two leads.

I am not a gaming person, so cutting out all the game stuff will not lose the charm of this drama. Instead, it helps me save lots of time. Likewise, all the aerospace stuff. Especially all the technical issues. Hence, fast forwarding all those I lost nothing too.

Will I recommend this drama to other people? Yes!! Totally. But, if they are not into video game and not into aerospace, I will recommend that they skip those.

I do not watch a modern drama for the plot, because compared to historical dramas, they are razor thin. Even some of the best Kdramas have very thin plots. I came to watch great acting. And so far, I have not been disappointed. Reba and Yang Yang carried the show, not the storyline.
