Lol but after drama ended i was obsessed with changge hair i even made hairstyle like her for 2 days lol. I did…
I think she did. Visually, it made her look really like the Changge in the manhua. And then that mole. I am not sure if they did any screen test for her or any audition that she had to go through to get this role, but if they did, her mole and then giving her the two strands of hair, that is almost like Changge jumping out from those comic pages.

Visual representation is always going to be rather imporant. Reba's acting skills did the rest.

I went back to re-look at this scene before responding to you. Those look, about 2-3, were very fast. The camera…
For sure. In the scene you mentioned, he did not look at ice melt with any "strong" expressons. Just kinda of emotionless glance. I think maybe this is already toward the end of the drama, so no point to keep repeating old stuff.

There was systematic down voting of this drama, in the first week of airing. It was so sudden and such an avalanche…
Do you notice this? In your list, only The Long Ballad is a historical drama. A number of us feel that that was what made the original manhua unique and also made the drama a standout among historical dramas. It really pushed women empowerment to new heights.

After watching TLB, many historical dramas with strong FL, those FL will appear relatively weak and helpless, compared to a strong and resourceful Changge who will not be pushed around by guys

Modern dramas that show women to be weak will be killed in the marketplace. Few will want to watch those.

It is during that tree-trunk conversation in E49. He will not be getting his 3rd wish anytime soon. Changge is very good in playing the delay game. She will give him at least 3 reasons why they should do it later.

Watching this drama on a giant screen TV with a great sound system will give you a whole different feel, compared to watching on the small computer screen. It will elevate your experience to a different level

They were both willing to die for each other, maybe AS more than often than CG because he started falling for her earlier. And he being a guy from the grasslands, he always felt that guys should do more to protect women, knowing how often women are bullied and taken advantage of.

That conversation between the two at the tree trunk in E49 summarised it all. It was just few seconds in that conversation, but it was a sweet summary of their mutual protection.

Can I ask.. so we don't know who's the real parents of Sun? I'm really curious about that
This is a drama adaptation of the manhua. If you read the manhua, you will know who his parents are. But, in an adaption, the screenwriters need to choose carefully what to show and what not to show.

They cannot show everything that is the same as in the manhua, or 49 episodes may not be enough

And manhuas readers and dramas viewers may not have the same tastes

So, they chose not to show anything about Sun's real parents.

This is only one aspect that the drama differ from the manhua. There are many others.

The adaptation was done with full knowledge and permission of the manhua author, and was done by two very experienced screenwriters. Many changes needed to be done, as filming was done last year, during the height of the pandemic in China.

But the fact that this drama has become so popular is proof that the adaptation was really successful. It appealed to both those who have read the manhua and those who did not.

Amazing video of the Suzhou Wanda Plaza. This was shown only recently? If so, this will be great promotional material in China. Maybe many yet to watch and this will encourage them to watch. Someone also mentioned, they could well show this drama on China's national TV. Imagine how many viewers this drama will get

It just shows what fans can do, whatever Tencent did not want to or bother to

I would say, get married formally, have kids;)
Technically already married. No need formal ceremony. With no parents around for either party, a formal ceremony is somewhat meaningless.

Have kids? They will. If the story were to continue after E49, those kids will come. Just a matter of time. Given CG's character, she will want them as late as possible, so that she can still roam around the grasslands. AS will want it sooner.

I get Leo is guy and has a no kiss contract..Any reason why even Rosy and Ning did not have any kiss but Mimi…
Some good questions you asked there. As MooBerry mentioned, in the manhua, Mimi was killed very early on. Here, in the drama she was given an extented role and she was killed only right at the very end. The drama took place in the context of many battles and war. People die during a period like this. Killing a character is very often a writing strategy. The sadder the death, the more we will cry for her.

When you asked, why kill her, you already felt sadness with her dead.

Sometimes, writers even kill off the main leads in a drama. We are just glad, at the ending, all the five main characters lived

Why no kiss for Rosy and Ning, good question. Their relationship only developed toward the till end. Perhaps the director felt there was no need to show such scenes? Showing those embraces would have been sufficient.

Mimi and Mujin had several. Their relationship developed much earlier than Rosy and Ning. And showing those kisses let us understand was Mujin was so sad, when Mimi died.

Here is what could have happened, if Leo did not have that no-kiss contract. That scene in E40, where they showed the two parrots, for sure AS and Changge would have kissed. It is so obvious, why the director showed the two parrots kissing. AS and Changge were in full embrace, Changge tip toed, to make sure she could reach AS's mouth.

This director has no problem wanting to show kisses. In ELOD, where he also directed and Reba acted, lots of passionate kisses.

And if they showed AS and CG kissing, maybe they would also show Rosy and Ning kissing.

In end, we got what we got. Only Mimi and Mujin kissed.

The director resorted to using micro gestures between AS and CG to show their love and affection for each other. Rosy and Ning also had many affectionate moments.

You are not the only one, but I have to say, I'm really surprised, because I thought it was great. Actually, I…
If, by skinship you are referring to mouth-to-mouth kisses, that could be explained. Wu Lei, who played AS, very likely has a no-kiss clause in his acting contract. So, the director needed to slow down on physical contacts between the ML and FL. CG also had to act age-specific and emotionally appropriate. At the palace, she had not witnessed any show of physical love and effecton between her parents. She did see them holding hands or in deep embrace.

So, in some of the BTS scenes, we could see the director of his team members showing Dilraba how would a shy 15 year behave, one who had never seen any acts of affection between a male and female. Hence we saw many scenes of her being uncomfortable when AS touched her. I don't if you noticed, but there were lots of scenes which showed her recoilling her hands, when AS held hers. That is precisely a shy 15-year old girl with no experience would behave.

But later, she will would know what to do. This is best shown in E40. Here in this scene, if you look closely, she would return AS's embrace. Where previously she did not know where to put her hands, she would put her arms around his body. The director would ask Reba to tip toe and convey that they would subsequently kiss. And they would have, if not for the no-kiss clause.

This director had directed Reba previous historical, and he loves to use skinship scenes.

But, with that clause, they had no choice but to blur AS and CG's portion and use those two parrots to show us what happened at that embrace between the two. We were supposed to use a bit of imagination.

I was reading something and came across this quote-“...but this film never looses sight of the fact that we…
Very true. The types of clothes we wear may have changed. Food, houses, etc. But at the very fundamental level, human beings have not changed much. I was told, when the producer wanted a director for this drama adaptation, she looked for director Chu. She felt that Chu is a genius in conveying emotions to viewers through the actions words, etc. of the actors and actresses.

Screenwriters wrote the storyline. The director is the one who convey that storyline to us through all those actions sequences, how exactly the actors/actresses should look in their facial expressons, etc. In this case, I think they also relied on the manhua. We were told that in preparation for her scenes, DIlraba, besides reading her lines in the script, she would often have the manhua next to her.
