If you like the first half, you wil be charmed by the 2nd. Most people here find the series gets better with each episode. It just builds up the climax in the final few episodes. Enjoy the journey

This is good. One of the best out there, if not the best. You do not need to be big fan of the main actress. But if you appreciate good acting, you will also get to like her acting. The script is great. Very good music. A very good entire packge.

It also made the drama more complex. So, maybe that is why some people do not like this drama. They need to invest time to understand this aspect of Changge. They forget she was just a 15 year old tomboy who left the palace. She played cuju ball, she ride horses, she does archery, she dabbles in war strategies. So, when she had her first experience of romance, what do we expect?? She will just grab and hug and kiss the guy? That would have been so unrealistic

No no! Nothing wrong with your take at all. That is exactly part of CG's character. She was a tomboy most of the time. She behaved like a boy. So, early part of the drama, she did not really grow in her femininity, yet. Hence, we feel more bromance. It is all part of her growth.

In this drama, what is portrayed is not just character growth - in terms of what made them better person - but this drama is unique, in that it shows gender growth of the female lead. Very refreshing indeed! That is one aspect that makes this drama so unique.

Yes, many commentators said the screenwriter overused misunderstandings to prolong the series. One or two is ok. But if overused, it can become a bit boring.

Here in TLB, very few. And even those few, they were critical part of the storyline. Mainly during the part when AS cannot reveal his true identity to Changge. But once he did, there was very little misunderstanding between the two. It was not episode after episode of misunderstanding due to lack of communication between FL and ML.

I did not watch Miss the Dragon. Before I start, I will usually go to the comments page and read what people say. I read a lot of bad comments. Many people said the script is very bad.

So, I did not start on it. But I feel very very sorry for Bambi Zhu. She did very well in Heavenly Sword (2019). She also did not get any good roles after HS. So now, if Miss the Dragon does not do well, I feel bad for her. Many commentators said she acted well. Just the story is bad.

I also feel a bit sorry for Joseph. He did rather well in Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre (2019). Yet, after that, he did not do anymore historical drama, until Time Flies. The character he played in Time Flies may not help him to get serious roles in historical dramas.

Yes, the cast is good. I did not watch far enough to make fair comments about other cast members. But I thought that Liang Jie portrayed her character rather well. And when I found out that she actually dubbed her own voice, my respect for her also grew. She is a good actress. Just need a good script.

That seems to be the problem in historical Cdramas. Lots of good actors/actresses. Just a shortage of good screenwriting or story writing. Character writing.

Yes, if you keep comparing other series to TLB, you will likely end up watching nothing. In Time flies, Liang Jie dubbed her own voice . Some people said Joseph Zeng also dubbed his own voice.

I dropped it because some people said the screenwriter used far too many misunderstanding between the FL and ML to drag the story. It became so repetitive to the point of being boring and too predictable, and make the storyline very shallow.

Here in TLB, misunderstandings are cleared up very quickly. Screenwriters for TLB are very smart and creative. They used other methods to connect the episodes. And even if their intention was to extend the number of episodes, they did it very well. This is why when TLB ended, we wanted more.

In some other dramas, we are so glad that they ended and there will be no more episodes. Because that is the end of all the misunderstanding between the ML and FL. We can get so tired after watching.

We know that Yan Bei is the producer of TLB. Internet sources say so (e.g, http://www.chinesedrama.info/2020/08/drama-chang-ge-xing.html). We also know from many interviews, she is the producer. So many of us know that she is the producer.

Yet, here in MDL, when I enlarged the credits and cast page, it says Chief producer is Fang Fang and Producer is Zhang Zhi Wei.

I am a bit confused.

Happy for him. And Liang Jie is quite a good actress. She also acted in Time Flies and You are here. I dropped that series after watching a few episodes. I share the view of many commentators of that series. Poor screenwriting.

In my opinion, her character did not really make the plot more complicated. At least not to the point where we find it difficult to understand. He brother was kept captive by the Khatun. She did not know whether her brother was alive or where he was kept, till the last part, because this was all part of Khatun's plan, so that Khatun can continue to make use of Mimi for as long as she wants. That is all there is to it. Nothing really complicated. Most viewers would understand that.

And her character was not really helpless at all. When Changge had her first period, it was Mimi who helped her. When they were at Mobei, trying to bring back the grass to the grasslands as an antidote for the virus, Mimi was the one who brought it back. At the arc where the Khatun tried to sabotage the peace alliance, she worked with Changge to foil Khatun's plan. She was the one helped get the map of DIng Xiang to Changge in Changge's plan to rescue Ashile Sun. And in E48, she took the arrow for Changge.

Which part of the above conveyed helplessness to you?

I do not think she made Changge's life harder at all! Like I said, when Changge had her first period, she was the one who helped her. She was the one who brought the grass from Mobei back to the grasslands. She helped Changge to thwart Khatun. She took the arrow for Changge. When she died, Changge cried her heart out.

How does any of the above make you feel that she made Changge's life harder?? If she made Changge's life harder, would Changge have cried the way she did in Episode 48? On the contrary, she was a great help to Changge.

In the manhua, Changge and Mimi were the best of friends. In the drama, the screenwriters merely felt that if there were best friends, maybe they should write it such that she stay by Changge's side a bit longer (instead of dying very early on in manhua) and that she would provide a sense of female companionship for Changge, since Leyan is no longer with her.

Changge had a very long journey indeed. I do not see anything wrong at all, with this sub-plot, providing her with a helpful companion. It flows very well with the main plot.

Try as I do, I really cannot see the source of your annoyance with the character of Mimi in TLB. And Mimi is not even a major character in the drama. There is absolutely no necessity to put her character under the microcrope. So long as her character helped the story to move along, it did not hurt the main storyline but helped it.

And this drama has many many side or minor characters. If we are to use your argument, oh, I do not like this character, it drags out the drama far too long, let's shorten this. Some other individual may also say, I also do not like this other character, let's shorten that as well, what are we left with? A drama with just Ashile Sun and Li Changge? It will be extremely short. But do you think a drama like that will be interesting to watch? Would it have garnered the number of viewership that this drama did?

When they make a movie, they cannot cater to everyone's idiosyncratic choices. Too many viewers out there. They can only hope that a great majority will understand and like it.

We get it. You got annoyed with Mimi's character, and you rated this drama down. And you got annoyed with her character, because YOU feel that YOU would have written a better story, than our two screenwriters.

Yet, you also freely admitted that your brain is not wired like the great majority out there. who see the drama as a package and are able to sympathise with Mimi.

Would you, perhaps be humble enough to say, the great majority out there was right and you were wrong??
