This scene, when Sun turned to face Li Jing, it was as if to tell him, "Now you understanding why your book has no fight, compared to the person I was looking for."

It was very very difficult for Mrs Gongun. She had to choose between following her husband, or remain behind to take care of her little girl.

Between the two, she chose the former. Perhaps she felt that all the people left behind will take care of her little girl and she should join her husband.

It was a very emotional scene. They used what is quite possibly the saddest OST in this drama. Then, they dropped all those flower petals, as if to symbolise death. Then the camera zoomed in on CG, to show the pain she felt. And then Mr Qin asked CG, what is your path. Mr and Mrs Gongun have chosen theirs, what is yours??

Viewers who appreciate good acting will really appreciate E14 and E15. So many great scenes in these 2 episodes. The snow walk scene was not as emotional as Mr and Mrs Gongun killing themselves. But it was more epic, as it showed the braveness of a 15 year old unarmed girl, standing in front of thousands of fully armed enemy soldiers, many of whom were more than willing to kill her. What prevented her certain death was AS's affection for her.

Hao Du vs Situ. That was nearly a possibility. Very nearly.

Sun vs Situ, less so. At Liuyun Temple, Sun was quite polite and Situ did not yet the why Sun was looking for CG. Situ is quite a smart guy. He will not jump to conclusion so quickly.

Shuyu and Hao Du, they came to blow at least nearly once, in E31, when Hao Du had his sword at Shuyu's throat. To be fair, that scene, Shuyu was not fully prepared to fight Hao Du. He was still disappointed that their plan to help CG was foiled. But, in open combat, I think Hao Du will beat Shuyu.

Shuyu vs Sheer, if Shuyu had gone in to fight Sheer in E42, he would have lost to Sheer. His desire to win was not very strong anyway. Hao Du had a stronger desire. I think mentally, he was more prepared to marry Leyan, compared to Shuyu.

Yes, if the director had more time, it would have been nice to show these combats

E4, he did not yet know CG was a girl. Sun threw water at her, to relieve of the effect of the aphrodisiac. E5, he throw wine at her wound. Wine has alcohol. It was to remove any infection that might arise from the wound

This was one of my favourite scenes. It was not as iconic as the snow walk scene, when CG surrender to Sun. But it was very lovely. And they showed this scene with two flashback scenes, as if to give context to the way CG was now looking at Sun. She was very happy. All their past understandings were washed under the bridge. She knew she was forgiven.

And emotionally, she was at another level, as if she has caught us with Sun emotionally, and was able to reciprocate all of Sun's show of affection and could not look at him with love

This scene was also not easy for Reba to execute. Do you notice how long a skirt the production team asked her to wear? Her skirt was literally touching the floor. When walking ok. When running, one little mistake during filming, she would have tripped.

Yes, for a drama with 49 episodes, not possible to have every little detail perfect. Most of us are reasonable, because we have seen far more mistakes in many other dramas, mistakes that make the main story totally confusing. Here, by and large, we can follow the main story and even all the sub-plots.

About Sun knowing that Changge is a girl, from way back in E5, not sure if you are aware, we have been treating very kindly. I have told many times, in the manhua, he only knew that Changge is girl at the Liuyun temple, which is like in E26 or E27.

So, you can just imagine, if the drama had followed the manhua, they would have had to show many scenes of their misunderstanding toward each other.

Here in the drama, the screenwriters wanted to show romance between Sun and Changge. And the only way to show it was to show that Sun knew Changge was a girl very early on. And a one sided love soon turned two sided, when Changge understood all of Sun's action toward her. There is indeed misunderstanding. But this did not arise from lack of communication between the two.

Instead it was built into the main plot. It makes their romance far more interesting and complex than many dramas out there, which is typically like: boy saves girl, so girl fell in love with the boy and wants to marry him.

There were parts where the drama did not actually follow history. Quite a lot. But, we all know that the screenwriters never meant for TLB to be a documentary.

It is a work of fiction. Where historical people, places, events were mentioned, the production team just needed to make sure they stay as close as history possible, or this drama will not pass the censors and we will never get to see it.

I suspect, the most important aspect of this drama is Li Simin. In history, he was China's best emperor or most respected. The censors do not want to see him cast in negative light. Hence, we do see him actually plunging a a sword into his brother, even though we know from history, he killed him.

As for what happened after E49, yes, what you said is true. Many Ashina leaders later became Tang general. In this regard, Li Simin was a very open-minded person indeed! Not many Chinese emperors would do that. They will not trust a former enemy. Not to the extent that Li Simin trusted former leaders from the Eastern Turkic Khaganate

You said the male cast not as great and had a very awkward way of kissing the ladies. Which male cast are you referring to? Because there are many male characters in this drama.

You said your only highlight for you was the lovely Zhao Lusi. Her character was amazing and her acting was amazing. What aspect or aspects of her character did you find amazing?

Yes, for sure, if we look at all the scenes involving Leyan, finding an actress to act those roles will be fairly easy. Lots of actresses can do those. Many of her scenes involve crying. If we were to time all the scenes she was in, we will see just how large a percentage it involves crying. And we can imagine, a great many female actresses in China can cry well in front of the camera.

We cannot deny that her chemistry with the Hao Du character was good. But their screen time as a couple was fairly limited.

Li Changge is in different league. The Changge character needs to show extreme hate (for someone who murdered her parents), shyness (in front of Sun at the beginning part of their relationship as a couple), happiness, shock, sadness, pain, fearlessness in defending those she loved. The look in her eyes, facial expression, body language, must convey all those emotions, feelings, images.

The director for TLB had worked with Reba in ELOD. He had plenty of opportunities to observe up close, what she can or cannot do. And what he saw gave him100% confidence in Reba, even though Reba herself was not so sure about it (at first).

I think that is why he said the Changge character is almost like modelled about Reba. He is a very very experienced director. He would not have concured with the director's decision to cast Reba, if he had any doubt. If Reba does not perform, his reputation would suffer, and he was not about to put his reputation on the line even if he finds Reba's real-life personality very likeable. It was all about her acting ability. The Changge character in the drama must be what the Changge in the manhua that Xia Da drew, what manhua readers perceive her to be.

And Reba's acting in TLB was phenomenal. Those of us who saw her in her previous historical dramas immediately felt that.

That is why your first sentence is so true. Reba playing Changge is a match made in heaven. When TLB was shown in China, for so many weeks, she was ranked the number one actor, ranking even higher than male actors with more star power than her.

But we do wish Lusi well. She has many dramas coming up, that cast her in a serious role rather than those comedic roles in rom-com. We know she can play cute roles well. She knows she can play cute roles well. But she cannot just act cute the rest of her career. In front of the camera, she must be able to display the full range of emotions that Reba showed in TLB.

A very fair statement, since we are only half way through 2021. We have yet to see dramas from June onward.

Just comparing historical CDramas screened so far, this has got to be the best in the first half of 2021. As a package, this drama beats all the rest hands down.

The way Sun pushes the Princess away, you kind of pity her, for not reading Sun accurately. He will not let anyone stand between him and Changge or cause any misunderstanding between the two of them.

Your point 1, that is 100% true. TLB respects viewer's IQ. In many dramas, screenwriters use misunderstanding after misunderstanding between the ML and FL in the storyline. And most times, the misunderstanding is created by lack of communication between them or lack of trust, so they keep secrets from each other. But viewers normally would get tired of those sort of misunderstanding, once it becomes repetitive.

But here in TLB, none of that. Whether is between GeSun or Haoyan, nothing drags. Because we see more GeSun scenes, this is more apparent. You can see that they keep very little secrets if any. Once their relationship turned mutual, there was open communication. And so much trust.

It is a pity that MDL did not have a line for Yan Bei as the producer and then create a link to all the movies she has produced. That would have indicated to us just how experienced Yan Bei is, and why she did what she did, as far as TLB is concerned.

I believe this is how it works in CDramaland. Investors approach producer. Producer looks for sceenwriter(s). Producer then looks a director to direct the story written and confirmed by producer.

So Yan Bei probably has authority over all that went on for TLB, and she was seen in many interviews for TLB and explained the casting decisions.

Once filming for TLB starts, director took the show. Anything he was not sure about the storyline, he likely approach the screenwriters. By that time Yan Bei had signed off on the story. Screenwriters will be more familiar with finer details, Yan Bei with just the big picture or the main plot
