Movie and drama taste is always going to be something subjective. I have yet to come across a drama with 2 couples and both couples are loved to the same extent by all viewers. Even the great TMOPB has viewers who loved the 2nd couple more than the 1st.
I don't really believe in the chemistry explanation, that the 2nd couple has more on-screen chemistry than the 1st.
The screen time difference between the two couples just make that argument totally untenable. To me, it is always gonna be, those who like the 2nd couple are Lusi fans, supporting their favourite actress. I find this reason a whole lot more believeable and even totally acceptable. Than to say they see more chemistry between Leyan and Hao Du compared to that of Changge and AS.
Either that, or people who see more chemistry in the 2nd couple have a very different definition of on screen chemistry compared to those who prefer the 1st couple.
What's more, TLB's primary focus isn't even romance, but the character growth in Li Changge, the main protagnist. And the life lessons that we can learn from the drama even as she goes through all those adventures, rather than focusing on which couple has more chemistry. Can feel the pain you are feeling. When Lusi was cast as Leyan, we all knew there will be fan wars. You can sense a bit of that even in this forum, though people are very polite and don't really throw stones at each other.
I have looked at the comments section in some other dramas, and yes, there is indeed some who have distaste for dramas with big names. Especially if the dramas they like are helmed by lesser known actors and actresses. They mock at the ratings for TLB in MDL and say that TLB is rated high here, all because Reba and Wu Lei are better looking than their FL and ML.
A combination of factors is making the rating for TLB low in Douban. As there is nothing much we can do about it, we might as well just ignore the rating there and all those hurtful comments. Getting angry is just not worth it, and is not good our mental health.
Our GeSun couple is still winning some awards out there. And Reba herself has won some awards and was highly rated in China for her performance as Li Changge. She may yet win some big acting awards in China. If Reba and Wu Lei continue to get challenging and plumb roles in dramas with good plots and great directors, the Douban rating is inconsequential, as far as their career is concerned.
The opening scene in episode one made me feel almost like watching TLB season 2. It is the same field they used as a backdrop
I watched Joseph in Heavenly Sword, so in the two years since, he is more matured looking now. In HS, I can even see the resemblance between the way his Zhang Wuji would protect Zhao Min and how our AS would protect CG, even though his Zhang Wuji could not have killed all those who tried to bully Zhao Min, the same way AS reacted violently to whoever who dared to touch his CG. Wuxia heroes are just not as violent as grassland generals; certainly not one who sees the life of his wife more precious than his own.
The FL is not a bad actress at all, though I did not watch a single episode of the Eternal Love trilogy. She does portray her character well.
The contrast with TLB is a bit jarring, and is something I need to overcome. After seeing a kickass girl who could stand up for herself, and outplay a guy in cuju ball, it is painful to see a girl getting slapped by her father, bullied by guys, and mocked by even her own female relatives. I can see that she has a strong character too, but just not the resources to fight back. Perhaps not in episode 1, yet.
But "Time Flies and You Are Here" looks more like a comedy genre. Even the background music conveys that it is more of comedy than a serious drama (like TLB).
As there is nothing new out there that is watchable, and I have done countless re-watch of TLB, I will just continue. By episode 2 or 3, if the plot gets too predictable, I will go back to TLB or try something else.

I don't think they imitate TLB. If they film this in Hengdian, they are likely to use the same production set as TLB. Certain places are going to look familiar to us

What happened after E49, when CG and AS 'retired' to the grasslands? Many of you have been wondering.

Looking at the timeline of events, that our drama took place right after Xuanwu Gate, the Khan in our drama is likely Ashina Duobi, and Sheer, very likely Ashina Shibobi. Other than that, everything is black box.
We do not know which Khan our AS was modeled after. Could be none. Like CG, he could be just a fictional character that Xia Da imagined.
If CG and AS are both fictional characters. So there are limitless number of ways that she can continue her manhua.
So, what will happen after E49?? Anything is possible. Your guess will be as good as mine.

When she decided to save Li Simin, in the arrow shooting the cup scene, she was quite smart to dress in wolf division battle gear, so that if she get caught, the eagle division will not get the blame. Not as complex a task compared to the rescue scene in E48, but it does call for a certain degree of anticipation that Plan A might go wrong.
Be as it may, I think the version of CG in E49 is defintely much wiser than the version in E1. If there is character development, I would expect she also grew in wisdom and military IQ

A typical girl of Changge's age during that period would want to start a family soon. And Sun is more than ready.
But Changge is no typical girl. The grasslands is huge. So, during peace time, she is more likely to be roaming around the grasslands. She love to broker peace. We see this in many of the episodes. So, if there are tribes in the grasslands still at war, she is likely want to talk to their leaders and help them find peace
She wanted ordinary citizens to have food, clothing. We saw this in the final episode, in her vision for Tang Dynasty. So, if she comes across a tribe that is constantly facing food shortages, she will probably want to help find better ways to cultivate their land, to get higher yield.
At the beginning, Changge did not like embroidery or was not very good at it. But toward the end, she became better. So, very likely she will also spend time doing some embroideries for Sun.
As for Sun, what will he do? Last scene, he was in his battle gear. The Ashile tribe is still there. Maybe there are unfinished business. He is likely to be the next Khan, as his adopted father is rather sick. He will likely unite the entire Ashile tribe, to defend them from attacks by other tribe. After find peace at such a high price, I do not think he will want to start a war. By now, Changge is his wife and we know Changge treasure peace, after losing so many people she loved due to power struggle. We know how much Sun loves her. If he starts a war, he will lose her.
Since Changge is not too keen to start a baby soon, what will they do when they are together? Remember the place he brought her to see fireflies? He may bring her to such places and just enjoy looking at those flies. Or, they may do some projects together, projects that are too challenging for each of them individually. She is quite a good negotiator. Sun may rope her in, to negotiate peace among the various Ashile sub divisions.
When she is finally ready for babies, they will do what needs to be done, in order to have babies.
We don't really have a definite answer. Just have to wait patiently. Wait for another month or so. See what happens to viewership figures. I think that is what the producer is looking at. Director for TLB already moved on to his next project
