You need to watch for hidden meaning behind all the ML's gestures and words. It is at episode 5 that he first fell in love with the FL, once he discovers that she is a girl. But the FL is very young. You need keep in mind that the main focus of this drama was never on romance. It is more about the journey of the FL. So, even though their romance does not come into full bloom till episode 31, from episode 5 onward, lots of things happened show the character growth of the FL. This is very entertaining and educational.

This drama focuses more on this aspect. This is the most important aspect of the drama, her growth, what she learned from all the adventures. Romance is only the 2nd important theme in this drama.

If you watch this drama purely for romance, you might be disappointed.

The Leyan-Hao Do love story indeed does not impact the main storyline. It is also sweet, but slightly more commonplace, compared to that of the main couple, which is extremely rare in Chinese dramas.

In terms of screen time focusing on Leyan and Hao Du romantic relationship, very little. Maybe only 1-2 episodes. The Changge Leyan relationship very likely occupied more screen time, and I do agree that their sisterly relationship makes for viewing pleasure.

I try to absorb everyone's wisdom, to help make TLB as enjoyable to as many people as possible. And I enjoy doing this, because TLB is a very unique drama. One of the best that I have ever watched.

If you are watching this drama purely for Leyan and Hao Do scenes, then you might not enjoy this drama at all.

There are episodes that show Le Yan alone. Those ok. But, only a few episodes. Very few of Hao Du alone. And episodes that show them together as a couple, also not very much. Of of 49 episodes, only about 2. Episodes that show them interacting, but not yet as a couple, a bit more.

But the thing is this. They are not the main couple. So their interaction by themselves may not make much sense, if you skip all the other scenes. You will miss the context of their interactions, because those interactions often take place in relations to Li Changge or Shuyu.

Will still make sense. FL is the main character. Her interaction with the ML has the most screen time. The ending will still make sense.

Le Yan and Hao Du, as a couple, they don't really have lots of screen time. Taste is very subjective. There are people who really like them as a couple. But, if you don't, skiping those scenes where they are together, you will not lose very much.

But scenes where they appear individually, for example, quite a number of scenes involve Leyan on her own; and many scenes also show their individual involvement with Changge (for example, those Changge and Leyan scenes or Changge and Hao Do scenes), they do help you to appreciate this drama more.

If you cannot even stand watching this kind of scenes, and just fast forward, the drama will still make sense. You will just enjoy less. But you also save quite a fair bit of time. It is a trade off you need to decide for yourself

It was after Pillow Book. And there was such a big gap between the filming of Pillow Book and TLB. She must have been very very happy to be filming again, instead of just doing commercials and participating in those variety shows.

And it is such a nice role. Pretty sure when she read the script, she sees in Changge a lot of what she wants to become. In her own words, she wants to brave, like Changge is

She is an actress. To be brave must surely be to handle more and more challenging roles. To stretch her acting abilities to the limits. And bring many more great performances

I am sure we also wish all the other actors/actress in TLB well. They too gave us great performances. May they also progress in their careers, to bring great dramas to audiences far and wide.

You are sad, because you want more. You want more, because it is that good a drama. The drama has already gone much further than the manhua, in terms of Changge's journey. And comprises all the eventful things that took place in her life.

GeSun during the peaceful will be nice. But may not be as exciting.

Let us wait. For the author Xia Da to settle all the legal matters that surround the original manhua. I am sure she already has some follow up materials in mind. Maybe all already drawn up and kept in a safe somewhere in her studio.

Maybe, there will be season 2. We will get to see the next set of adventures that the GeSun couple go through.

Yup. And the costume that Xia Da put on Changge in this link is the same costume that Changge wore during the opening scene. Which is also what she wore in that river scene, Episode 5. when Ashun found her. The pulling out arrow scene.

I watched it again, probably for the 5-6th time. And it so cute. When Yaro wanted to help carry Changge to a resting place, Ashun said "No". Yaro did not know, but Ahsun wasn't going to get anyone so much as lay a finger on her. "I found her, and she's mine."

This costume, and many others that the various characters in the drama wore, as much as possible, they took it from Xia Da's work. It is both to pay homage to her, and to create an immediate connection between manhua readers and the drama.

Indeed! So glad the writers and director took great pain to bring this across, leaving us no doubt that this was her journey.

I am totally touched by her parting words. It certainly convey the degree of investment she put into this role.

We don't have access to her parting words for Pillow Book. If we do, I doubt she said the same thing about playing the role of Baifengjiu, what she said about playing Li Changge.

He could still be the one who sent the bird. But, it was tell her he is fine, not to check on her. But I certainly agree with you. Character wise, she is more of a risk taker than him, so chances of her getting into trouble is going to be higher. With regard to planning without plan B, I always thought she is a rather careful planner. When she planned his rescue, she was completely careful, making sure she had all the info before sending in the avengers team (or kitchen sink, as you like to describe it).

I think for smaller tasks, she is going to be more impulsive than him. For more complex tasks, she tends to be more deliberate. After all, she did have military training from her uncle. And military people always talk about contingency plans.

Someone commented that his role in TLB is practically redundant, and found him to be nothing but trouble.

Manhua readers can tell us, if he was even in the manhua at all.

This drama was never a historical rom com drama, so they need to make sure it does not come across like a comedy, with too many comedic scenes.

But I thought this little fellow was added to provide comedic relief to lessen the serious tone of TLB. He was there for Reba to bully, Wu Lei to push around. For Lusi to pull his ear, chase around with a stick.

Oh, they used plastic? Then it definitely would not have hurt much. If wooden, might have given her some pain.

I was not the first to note that the sword had hit her. Someone else did and wanted to highlight how professional her is, just brushing it off, and carry on with the filming and not delay everyone's time.

Someone once noted. So much effort put in, just to make this scene look just right. The rolling, the catching. This BTS just 5 mins. Prior to this, they probably had to rehearse Reba slipping.

Would not be surprised they took at least half an hour to get this scene right. And they felt they got it right, because it was used in the trailer
