That could very well be the case. Croton and Youku could have agreed that Croton will only release the version with Eng sub on its YouTube channel when Youku is done showing the entire series in China.

But, I suspect they are not worried about people watching this on those unofficial channels. Whatever leakage in revenue, they can easily make it up later, if they were to sell some of the rights to Netflix. Furthermore, an online article that I read indicated that they have already made a lot of money from the broadcast in China.

Each time those four Chinese characters are uttered, it captures all of Ji Yunhe's yearning and affection for Changyi. She does not have to say much. Coupled with that tender gaze at him, those four characters are more than enough. We should see that tonight, in part 1 finale.

Totally agree. An online article that I read said that in China, this is Youku's most watched drama over the last three years, and is a complete commerical success for all the producers like Youku, Croton Media,etc .

A drama this good still hovering at 8.3? It sends a wrong message to those dropping to check out its quality. Lots of people just look at the big orange number right on top.

We have done this many times, urging those who have already watched it either in raw or with fansubs, to rate it 10 if they do feel that this is a great drama, just to counter those who are dragging it down. I have noted that each time someone does that, those low raters will then counter attack. In the drama, Changyi and Ji Yunhe will be battling out against Shunde. Here on this page, another battle is going on. We are the Changyis and Ji Yunhes, but there are lots of Shundes out there. We really need the effort of lots of people to send it upward.

A simpler story would have been Ji Yunhe walked by the beach. She saw a merman somehow got its tail trapped between two rocks. That merman is actually a price of the king of the sea. She saved him by dislodging that tail from those rock. He is so grateful, he wants to marry her. They got married. End of story. Lots of screen time for the leads.

Would we even want to watch a drama like this? I guess not?

Speaking as one who did not read the novel, the beauty of this drama is in its very complexity. Complexities in many of the relationships we have seen; complexity of the plotline. While they separated, Changyi and Ji Yunhe were not idling away somewhere on vacation. They were thinking of each other, yearning for each other (though for different reasons). This is where the acting skills of both are leads are tested, to convey that yearning through their facial expressions and other actions. When we can connect with that yearning, their reunion will be so sweet.

This drama has lots of side characters, some of which have interesting relationships that are worthy to be given sufficient screen time. Yet, they do not outshine the two leads. Theirs remains the most anticipated relationship.

As to screen time, it is really hard to tell who has more or who has less. This drama is split into 2 parts. So, we are just at the half way of the entire story. At the end of the day, if Changyi has slightly less screen time than Ji Yunhe, it hardly matters. I doubt people will take a stop watch, and time each episode, and see how much screen time Changyi has and how much screen time Ji Yunhe has, for the entire series of 40 plus episodes, and then exclaim, "See, I told you Changyi has less sceen time!"

What is most important will be their ability to convey deep love and affection for each other through their great acting. Isn't that what we came to watch, rather then measuring who has more screen time??

Either an intact corpse, or they might use one of those holograms to show that LHQ somehow was able to put her body together even if it just vanishes or disintegrates into thin air when she died.

That will be a long wait, if they release the Eng sub only when Part 2 ends in China.

For non-VIP members in China, Part 1 finishes on April 15. So, hopefully, they will release the Eng sub shortly after April 15. This way, we get it sooner.

Anyway, it is well possible they tell us their decsion by tomorrow.

Those are interesting episodes. We get to know more about the master and his motivation for doing what he does.

This is totally great! Hopefully, at the announcement tomorrow, they may also give us a hint regarding the Eng subs for Part 1.

I see. So, after her revival, she became a 100% demon. I did not read the book. So, it will be very interesting to see the difference between being fully demon (after her revival) and half-demon half human (before she died).
