Same here:) I got totally seduced by this series, but really wish they didn't go with the suspence and dramatics at the expense of plot coherence there. That patchwork narrative, with key events explained later or shown through flashbacks, really disrupted the pacing and the emotional flow of the story for me. Still irks me that we didn't get a proper goodbye scene for YBY. That rushed 1min flashback was so underwhelming...

Lol, so true. Maybe they just released it too quickly? I thought this series had a rather tight plot for the first 20+ eps, still confused how it got so messy by the end. I think the no of episodes is fine, it's the editing that's the problem. How come our favourite pair of creepy villains gets to talk for 8min straight on screen, but we never see many plot-crucial scenes, like those between Zishu and his old friends?!

I didn't have that with WOH cause I just wanted to catch up with everyone, open those spoiler comments and be able to use social media again:D But I've been watching Winter Begonia at the same time and now I'm getting anxiety every time I'm about to click that 'next episode' button, cause there are so few left!! And I sooo don't want it to be over. I don't know if I should feel blessed or cursed to get emotionally blown over twice in one month;)

Not sure what's your definition of BL, but yes, this is obviously a love story - from attraction and flirting early on, to the deepest of bonds by the end. First time I watched it, I got tunnel vision for those two and couldn't care less about the rest of the plot;) As Saffy88 wrote, there's lots of relationship stuff both shown and implied in the subtext, reminiscent of oldschool historical romances, with some explicit lines spoken by the actors and then not very carefully overdubbed. The one similarity with TU I can see are the BAMF moments when one of them arrives in the nick of time to save the other... There are lots of those in WOH;)

Making your own stuff is fun:) I just noticed that custom embroidery costs the same as print, so I'm gonna go with that. It's got to be simpler so I'll have a fan and A-xu's bottle maybe... Still thinking on the details.

That's so harsh lol. I'm sure GJ is working very hard to give everyone an unforgettable audial experience;) I totally fail at fangirling. I'd rather go to 3 different concerts for that money.

Ouch, the original prices were already ridiculously high... Didn't they do personalized tickets? I can't believe people are willing to pay that much to listen to GJ:D But OTOH what I wouldn't give to go to a live concert now, everything here moved to next year:(

They are a combustible mix;) The pointed barbs suggest they got to know each other pretty well, and they seem to be very comfortable in each other's company. I have to say most of the time I can't tell if ZZH is being serious or sarcastic when talking about GJ... At this point, I pretty much assume he's always just messing with him. Maybe GJ gets stuck, cause he can't tell if he just got insulted or complimented and needs to first replay ZZH's comments in his mind:)

Lol, that's why I think ZZH teased this great acting performance out of GJ... Half of Lao Wen's fixated stares are probably GJ thinking up comebacks to his teasing between takes, mentally preparing for ZZH going off-script ...again, or feeling self-satisfied that, at least when they're shooting a scene, he's got the upper hand :D

This show has great educational value! I've learned how to call someone 'crazy' in Chinese in at least 25 different ways:D

To me, the biggest problem with this whole thing is that we don't get any backstory explaining their past and how they got with this 'unique' dynamic , so we're free to assume things... Even if we didn't have the word 'father' stuck in the back of our heads, we still see scorpion making puppy love eyes, going full possesive mode and repeatedly trying to get closer to ZJ, for what purpose I'm not even gonna guess:D So that 'father' word was an unfortunate translation error of judgement, but even if it was changed to 'foster father', I don't think it wouldn cleanse the ickiness from that relationship;)

Tbh, I'm not sure I fully grasp your meaning, cause I'm not a serious drama watcher ...at all. This is also the first Thai drama I have seen in my life. So just complete outsider here:) But I do see why people would like this drama and I did enjoy the early episodes. Compared to some of the Chinese/Taiwanese stories I've seen, this is like a masterclass in acting. Maybe, it's because I read much more than watch, so I tend to overfocus on the story and character development, and I do like complicated plots:)

Yes, I guess it all depends where we draw comparisons from. Before 2021, I don't think I have watched a single drama in the last several years. But I do watch other stuff and I read a lot, so to me this just seems to follow a rather well trodden path. Anyway, I guess I just got frustrated after asking my TV screen nicely, and repeatedly, for them not to go with that twist .... and they just went right for it, which gave me all the wrong set of emotions:) I'll just give this one a rest for a few weeks and come back with a clear mind.

Chinese netizens are really detail oriented... That's like the least of the problems with that episode:D I'm with you, that scene fit his emotions quite well. It was supposed to be raw and painful. But, tbh it also looks really weird. I think they messed up the effects with the 'floating' ribcage and fake nail wounds.

So I just rolled off the couch laughing after Er ye put drunk Shang laoban in the car via ass kicking and then sat on him to keep him still:D Why am I loving these two crazy people so much?! I honestly don't know if the driver has the best or the worst job in the world;)
