This shit f*** me up. Need anti-depressant meds after. Amazing how it was not really a sad ending but like.... I mean No one died.... but after watching it, i felt that something did die which was kinda sad. Their time and youth lost... The chemistry was amazing. I don't know but i think the older actor who played jia han was also pretty good at emulating the younger actors mannerism. Also the main leads freakishly look like other some other celebs: Old taiwan actor Takeshi kaneshiro and mainlands yang yang, But their acting was so refreshing. Taiwan is on some other shit with their movies. They say this was taiwan brokeback mountain or call me by your name but in my opinion this movie blew those all away.

Yes! Seems like a wholesome drama about food! Cant wait.

Its a fresh drama...but guess i am too old to understand the main leads teenage problems. If i was a fourteen year old teenage girl then maybe. Acting is good, but cha eun woo seems to be playing his same character from gannam beauty ( which he is pretty damn good at), but i hope they don't cast type hime like that... But lol honestly why i can see that the guys has as much make on as the girl!?

Production was good. Cgi was a little effie.... ( the cgi fox was monstrous!!). The story plot was kinda lagging. Many unessacery scenes that took way too long that derived the audience from the original plot line. Understood what the script writer were trying to do with the leads, but honestly my opinion was that there was little chemistry between them. The acting of the scholar boy was a little too over the top sometimes. The lotus demon looked nice but i think they were trying to make her seductive but her line deliveries were not convinving to how she looked. Choreography was....i guess as vest as it can for a fantasy movie.

Its a little annoying about the beauty standards set in this drama but I guess its the genre. I never really read the webtoon but is there an ongoing plot? It seems like a light hearted drama ( i am not complaining). Its a fresh breath of air. But i guess I am now to old to understand theses teenager's problem. I mean like dang, some of these "highschoolers" man lol.

I still think the story of mdzs writing is still lacking but like you said, that's my personal opinion. either way im really amazed by your insight. Do you think mdzs took a lot of inspiration from many characters in old legends and older series like ROTCH? Its like i think of liangzhu or yang long couple when i saw the series. Defitnitely saw alot of dongfang bubai in wei wuxian and jgy. Lol another note, funny because jgy was the only "villian" that i thought was well written. He was the level of of evil i expected. But yeah, my problem relues more with the writing. I really wished they gave wei wuxian a stronger story arch. I sensed the writer was scared of making him go through true self turmoil so instead tries to do that for him by writing the death of a character or making wwx encounter these cheap shortlived antagonist to try and move forward the plot during his flashbacks. It would have also made his relationship more interesting between lan wang ji. Like instead of throwing obstacles at them i needed emotional turmoil that included the "risks". ( but thats just my opionion).
Oh and yes! Romance in the rain is my guilty pleasure! You know it so we can agree its pretty much a soap opera. But rewatching it, by-passing the dramatic sounds and dramatic acting, i was really impressed how well the story was adapted into the shanghai scene and the idea of the 30' s. I also realize rewatching it, it was a very touching story of growth and change. The 2000 one i personally felt gave each character closure rather than a bitter ending. I liked more the theme of family healing, overcoming changing times and recovering from Childhood trauma . Again i still feel there was more areas they could have explored. The music was bomb and always brought a sense of nostagia though. Its my guilty pleasure drama and did not fail to deliver.I dont know but its a classic for me and more meroble then the novel or the older adaption.

Omg, appreciate your insight. People just tend to attack and never provide like a good perspective to support why they like the story. This drama and original work wasn't bad, but it would be an understatement to say it did not have any flaws. The story had a lot of potential, but in my perspective, Idk I just felt the direction of the story was limited especially in Wei Wuxian. He could have gone through the most growth in development characterlike if they really wrote him accordingly as this "anti-hero type" of character during his time as this "dark" lord, it would have been interesting to see how he had to process the emotional turmoil he had to deal with when he turns his back on his roots and clansmen. I really wanted to see him like really lose himself to his demonic powers ( maybe in a sense grow a little ignorant). Have him make real mistakes that actually hurted those close to him. This would have deepen the relationship with others, (especially LWJ) and possibly make it more special. Instead, they just have him accidently kill his sister which was kind of annoying as I felt they just used the sister as emotional leverage on the audience by killing her off. I wanted him to really clash with WangJi as well. Their relationship always seems so steady because of Wangji unexplained undying loyalty with WeiWuxian. I really wanted the writer to try and challenge WangJi more about his feelings for WeiWuxian. Again, emotional turmoil was something I really wanted the characters to go through more. There was no hate that came along with the love in their romance, which made the relationship to me a little weak. Also wanted to see reincanated Wei Wuxian deal with the consequnces caused from his lfe as the demonic sult leader ( but no, because again, the author was to scared to have Wei Wuxian make any personal mistakes/flaws throughout any stage in the story). This would have shown personal growth within Wuxian and made him more relatable.

Lol that was what i was thinking while watching the first episode in the scene with her in the diner with the kid. Sadly i was never drawn in enough by the 1st episode to wanna further know why.
