It's cool to finally see Xiaoyao in the past. Wonder when she will learn she's really Ning'an herself? Ngl, I even find it more interesting than Xiao Yao and Hong Ye in the present for some reason.

And while I am enjoying it rn, is it just me or what I would've changed to make it even more epic is Xiao Yao going into the past without her memories at all so that we get to see Ning'an and Hong Ye's story unfold; thus leaving Xiao Yao with Ning'an's memories.

We got multiple interesting character arcs and ofc every one of them die which tbh were the parts that kept me invested (besides second pairing) - A Li (who was w/ the blind girl Yunyi), Dreamshard (and the vengeful spirit), and Taotie (which u mentioned). I loved them. I guess these are to prepare for our main cp (but tbh they shouldn't be taking this long to give us their story...)

The second couple are written so well๐Ÿซ
Frrr... I am, ngl, a little bored watching the two leads tgt now bc their romance is just missing smth for me idk lol. I am still enjoying this drama for the most part tho. I just wished they developed the main cp more... I am even more invested in the second pair dang.

I really enjoyed this drama. It is definitely more friendship focused and about the connections the ML makes with…
Omg I legit just finished GotD recently and it was really a refreshing watch! WoF, you need to get ready! I do love that it's a mix of angst and lightheartedness tho, I will tell you that! But yeah, you will feel a lot esp for Tang Lici's character! And yep, no romance in this one :) Your favorite genres/themes are legit mine too!

Title The Unclouded Soul Spoiler
I did not expect to see Chen Xinhai's character go so fast like man am I getting FoF flashbacks with these side characters having emotional backstories like this (including Bing Zhu and his sister)... I bet this is getting ready for our main cp's story, plot, and angst to come in future eps that we have yet to see ๐Ÿ˜ญ

To everyone dropping bcoz of this being a typical xianxia drama, I wud suggest watching something else first..…
You're right. I've been seeing many ppl find this drama just okay and usually I may get tired with same tropes and cliches but for some reason I am really loving this. And it's prob like you say. It's best to take breaks in btw so you don't get tired of watching the same genre. I meam tbh the last xianxia I watched was S&B (despite the cliches u can't deny the writing wasn't that great) and LITC (which I thought was pretty good), and I watched those like 1-2 months ago. And then there was Whispers of Fate which came after so it was like... My most anticipated drama which actually didn't disappoint bc I felt it was different from what I've been watching. It was pretty unique. I don't always watch xianxias, so tbh, I was even lowkey craving for one, smth magical, when it's like nearing the end of the year, for a good way to end the year, and I feel like it really was a good choice to put it at the end of the year bc to me it was refreshing. I am also invested in the different characters and their stories that we are introduced to. I feel this will lead up to our main cp, their story, and more angst to come. Also don't get me started on the effects. As a Nezha lover, they don't disappoint!

Lol I used to do that. But I think I will enjoy dramas more with the same actor when watched separately to fully appreciate the actor's work by putting my focus on one at a time.

Title Whispers of Fate Spoiler
I enjoy Gui Mudan's character song the most. But for overall songs, I like the OP song the most because it makes…
Hey sorry for the super late reply. And I agree. I didn't like the way the director for FoF did this oof. If they are gonna focus on the bromance (which I really loved) then don't make her a romantic partner to the ML (idk if u thought this way but it's for me) bc like dang... It just didn't suit this drama imo. And you are right. I quite like her character but at the same time she annoyed me in some moments nc of the way she was written. For instance, why make her sit on the ground during intense scenes? It's genuinely so annoying and not fitting as if she should be out of the scene if anything since she obv doesn't suit being in these scenes when she is physically weak. She is useful but not for these things. Show us her doing more than what we got.

Also about Zhao Yuanzhou, I understand where ur coming from for pushing away Li Lun. I genuinely felt sad for Li Lun bc he really made him feel alone. Also, about the guard's heart, do you mean the first ep? I think he didn't actually do it (iirc) but just caused him injuries (which is still bad ik but tbh hurting ppl is common in cdramas anyway). I believe he acted like this towards Yichen bc at first he wanted him to see that he is the cruel demon that everyone says he is when he truly isn't. The killings were an accident bc of the demonic energy that entered onto him. Also when we say he is a good guy, well, rmr, b4 this, he was very lonely, sufferring from the thought of all his killings. As for Li Lun, he really killed many with his own hands, and he wasn't controlled unlike Yuanzhou. There is an dfference between them. It was also a huge misunderstanding where Yuanzhou wasn't aware about hurting Li Lun with the Ever-Burning Wood until the moment he disappeared in that one ep. And he felt so terrible and awful for what he did to him. You also can't deny Li Lun did so many bad things. This stems from not just misunderstandings but also different values btw the two characters. Li Lun felt so attached to Yuanzhou after spending years tgt so I can understand him. Doesn't take away the fact that he's done so many evil deeds himself. Yuanzhou is the same but let's not forget he's always controlled when going into a killing spree. In the end he sacrificed himself to save the world which I thought was so beautiful and selfless of him to do, esp since he became someone who actuallg wanted to live by the time he had to die.

I agree about Ying Lei. So I didn't like how he was not getting enough appreciation. He was such a lovely character who cared so much about his friends that I don't understand what went wrong with the screenwriters for the characters at times forgetting about him as part of the friend group... I just couldn't believe what they did there. You can tell they were really sad to see him go, BUT yk what... the writing of his death was sooo bad bc wdym u r just watching him continuously get stabbed by Li Lun with those vines (don't forget he killed our precious Ying Lei too). I can't forgive Li Lun for this. And at the same time it stems from Yuanzhou for not speaking up during their conversation iirc b4 this event occurred. But I mean, c'mon, why is Li Lun going around killing many innocents. It'z nonetheless unacceptable. He let his emotions get the best of him sadly. I just wished they had cleared it up thru their convo so all this wouldn't've happened... Ying Lei could've possibly survived. His death was the saddest ever to me I couldn't stop crying even in the next day OOF.

Okay sorry that was long and ik u prob won't agree with everything I say but if u read all the way ty! I apso just wrote this on the spot while reading ur comment so if it's messy and hsrd to understand I'm sorry lol.

my favorite neo hou drama will always be dashing youth, maybe because it was my first drama of his that i watched.
I love that one too! As for me FoF will prob always be my top one. It wasn't my first HMH drama but it's just a really special drama for me and I was absolutely in love with it when it aired that rarely any other drama has given me!

I'm genuinely sad this and TUS are airing at the same time like I would've loved to watch both while airing but I can't watch two Neo Hou dramas back to back. I'd rather focus on one if an actor is a MC in two dramas. What a terrible move they did here... Anyways, I started TUS and am already loving it so... I'm def gonna watch this when I finish it for sure tho!

I feel like it's gonna be an amazing drama! Also super excited to see all this cast and their performances! ๐Ÿ˜ This trio FoF reunion is gonna be lit. And FINALLY Richard Li is in a full-length drama yessss!!

I am really loving this already from the first ep. But then when ep 5 came? Oh boy... I'm loving it even more! So far it's coming close to being my second fave Neo Hou drama, right after FoF! Hope it stays top notch, and continues to get better and better! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ”ฅ

Well, I didn't say it was. Ofc it's not. The dramas aren't connected at all obv. I was just intrigued seeing this since I love that drama a lot. My comment was just meant for fun.

Ooh yeah it'd be cool. I won't get my hopes up tho lol. I just can't wait to see his views about demons change!

Wang Duo here kind of reminds me of Tian Jiarui in Fangs of Fortune in the way that he has a deep hatred / grudge with demons. They both have their own principles as well as their own duties that they want to fulfill, where they both are part of a bureau or smth where they want to get rid of demons for peace and prosperity (without knowing demons aren't so bad in general). Not to mention he plays his brother in that drama, and Neo Hou is the ML where he plays a great demon in both. Oh, and the fact that his sword can also detect demons (by lighting up / glowing) too. I can't wait to see (as it seems so, it is likely to happen) Bing Zhu's hatred with demons slowly fade as the drama goes on, and sees that demons aren't as bad as he thought they were.
