The mom's treatment of her daughter infuriates me!!! She never has wisdom or insight into her daughters character. Taking the time to learn her daughters character so that she can use the best method to teach her to be the best version of herself when she grows up. Every single other mother that is learned and capable sees this one's daughters potential and how to treat her so that she will learn but her mother never bothers. If your child acts badly because she was treated so badly then she will be starved for love and kindness, give her love and kindness she is desperate for and she will do ANYTHING to never disappoint you. Continue to heap the same abuses that all the others who mistreated her, insist she is the ultimate disappointment that she is incapable and there is nothing for her to strive for; there is no approval for her to lose so why would she bother to try?
*sigh* I was liking this until the two leads did something utterly unforgiveable to an irritating competitor trying to create a triangle. They turned into the absolute worst villians and I now hate them and cannot cheer for them to succeed. I am SO angry at the writers.
I agree but for a different reason. Revenge films are fine, but it is hard to care about a character who is lifeless…
Films are both an escape from reality and a mirror into present day societal thinking. Even when I hate a character I cannot stand to watch the abuses an overwhelming majority of present day women suffer and just like in real life the abusers face little or no consequences. If they have to traumatise me to watch it happen the very least they can do is provide a fantasy world where it is always punished. Frankly...there is no value to always have r*** scenes. The writters need to stop this trend.

Yeah...totally disagree. That would be like your future employer deciding you will be bad at your work because of how you look sleeping. They are not acting while standing beside each other. A good actor can have zero chemistry in real life but when they are actually working....it will be off the charts. A good actor will become a whole other person when the cameras start rolling or they step onto the stage.

Watched completely because so rare to have the ml who is good with people be empathetic and fix any time his actions hurt someone, not be total player. The female lead was strong but in a human way. The main characters were good and developed and grew. The side characters too. But the second love interests....were problematic until they too grew. I particularly hate when a person ignores boundaries and/or no. It is criminal and gives me the chills when it is used as justified by love. You do not love someone if they say no and you are forcing them. Yuck. The other was not believable. But I watched to the end for the main charactrrs and I am a serial dropper.

As I was watching it I totally got Mr. and Mrs. Smith feels....but set in ancient China. Uh...yes please. Stumbled across this on youtube playing in 3 long episodes with subs. Really enjoyed it. Kind of fave couple right now actually. And is it just me or does ML in this look like a sibling of Yibo's character in Legend of Fei?
