I'm only on episode 41, so far from finished, but I have to say that I absolutely love the Emperor and his two wives. The Emperor is hilarious and he really seems to care about everyone. He's not the usual overbearing, dictator type of Emperor from most dramas. The Empress is kind and gentle. Consort Yue is sassy and fair. I love their scenes.

That's great to hear. I was starting to get tired of their fights. I did love the scene at the Lou house, where they slapped that annoying mother and daughter duo. That showed once more just how alike they really are.

That's great to hear. I'm still on episode 21 of part 1 and I really am looking forward to more interactions between the main couple. I'm sorry that it didn't work out between her and Lou Yao, but we knew right from the start who her true match was. I'm also looking forward to her building a better relationship with her mother.

Maybe it should, but it doesn't take a lot to fall for someone. Especially not for such young people. I do agree that she has some growing up to do. She's immature and insensitive, which she still has a right to be, seeing as she's only fifteen. Add to that her upbringing at the hands of her aunt. She actually turned out much better than most would have. Now that she's surrounded by more people that care about her, she's definitely on her way to becoming a much more well-rounded person.

One thing I definitely agree with is that the FL is not mature enough to understand others. She's clearly intelligent and resourceful and energetic and fun to watch, but she never seems to put herself in the shoes of others. Like you said, she doesn't see why people are the way they are or why they act that way. That's immaturity. At least I hope so and she will change and grow. I have mixed feelings about the mother. She clearly cares about her daughter, but does not show it at all. She also doesn't seem to see that her method of "teaching" her is not working and maybe, just maybe she should try a different approach. I really hope their relationship improves, bacause so many of FL's good qualities seem to come from her mother. Let's just hope that it's all part of character development and we'll see them both grow.

Both Wu Lei and Zhao Lusi are a joy to watch. These two young and incredible actors always light up the screen.

I'm only on episode 17, so I'm not sure what else happens by the end of part one, but so far it seems that she doesn't want to marry a military official and ignoring his affection for her might be more concious than it looks. It is a shame. Ling Bu Yi is a fantastic ML and he's done a lot for her already (as far as I have seen). Unfortunately, there's no rule that affection has to be reciprocated. The choice to accept him or not is hers. And determining whether she deserves his affection or not is up to him. Also, she has been told and shown all her life that she was abandoned by her own parents because they neither wanted her nor loved her. That she doesn't deserve affection and love. Her mother didn't show her any affection after she returned, it's no wonder she doesn't see love unless they practically shove it in her face like Lou Yao did.

I watched a few more episodes and I agree she's not in love with him, but he definitely has a huge crush on her. Whether it's love remains to be seen. I hope they get to stay friends

So far, all three of her suitors seem like a good match, but as she is looking for a naive, pure and obedient husband at this point, Lou Yao fits what she wants. Unfortunately, now that I've seen a few more episodes, it's clear that while she likes him, she's not in love with him. They're both indeed very clueless and maybe it's the fact that they are young and naive and idealistic that makes them so adorable. It's like watching two kids announce they're getting married.

As much as I like Ling Bu Yi, Lou Yao seems like he would make a better husband to her at this point (episode 13). I'm feeling a bit sad for him knowing he's not going to end up with her.

My grandmother was indeed a great woman. You sound like yours was as bad the one in the drama. If so, I'm sorry to hear that. No child deserves to be treated that way.

Hopefully enough to be tolerable. Although, I sometimes really hate it when they forget later on just how awful the people were just because they are family. Even if she starts treating her a bit better, that doesn't erase 15 years of mistreatment.

I'm on episode 4 and the FL's family is really hard to watch. Only the father seems like a good person at this point, but even he follows his wives ridiculous strict treatment that's totally unnecessary. Give Shao Shang some parental love!!!

Can someone tell me if the grandmother dies at some point (hopefully soon)? I can't stand her.

This drama promises an adorable and silly comedy and it delivers. It's funny and it's cute and light. A perfect drama to lift your mood. The plot is rather predictable, but these types of dramas aren't really about the plot. It's all about the characters, their relationships and their interactions. Jackie Li was perfect as Jin Feng. She's sassy, street smart, confident, adorable, kind and just. She's a breath of fresh air and her smile just lits up the screen. Li Hong Yi, despite his young age, is a very charismatic actor and fits the role of the young, suspicious emperor really well. As couple, their interactions were adorable from start to finish. They started out as a bickering couple who were pretty much forced upon each other and ended up being the most adorable and loving couple. This is arguably one of the most common tropes in dramas, but I really liked the development of their relationship and how much Jin Feng taught Yun Zhang and how he was willing to learn. I was glad to see that there was no common palace drama. The palace and the royal family seem to have a very harmonious relationship.

All in all, this was definitely worth watching.

Did you actually watch all the episodes? Wen Yuan is the most despicable character in the whole drama. He started out as a good person, but they quickly showed his true colours. He's a creepy sociopath. I'll have to agree that it was a waste. They should have just kept him as he was in the beginning. He should have stayed as her best friend that was a laid back person that was fun to be around.

I love novels. I will definitely read LoHP. I will probably need to read the PA novel before watching the drama.

Can be a curse, but can also be a blessing. I guess that was the main reason for hesitating to watch this drama, because I know that once I start, I will watch this till the bitter end.
