Looks like this might have been a demo for a full length movie. They certainly had enough plot for a movie.

my thoughts exactly. For Duoluo, they seemed to have tried to make him as different to Zhuoying as they could, which resulted in the unfortunate choice of wig, but also some overacting by the actor. Suo Lan was just unfortunate. What were they thinking?

I wouldn't say it's sad, but it's bittersweet.

I finally watched this one. This drama went on my to watch list as soon as I saw the cast, but I needed all episodes to air and be subbed and I was right to wait. This would have been torture to watch while waiting for episodes. Yang Mi, William Chan and Xu Kai Cheng have all impressed me with multiple performances before and I was really looking forward to their performance and on screen chemistry. They did not disappoint. Obviously Yang Mi playing someone who's much younger didn't really fit, so in that aspect she was miscast and should probably have been replaced by a younger actress. She seems to have tried to compensate for that with her acting younger and the voice being girlier, but that did not help much either, because for the majority of the drama she was pretending to be a man, which would have lead to Haishi having a deeper voice on purpose. Obviously even dressed like a man, Yang Mi still looks like a gorgeous woman, but that's a whole other issue with multiple other Chinese dramas. Other than that, her performance was good. I particularly liked the heroic scenes. She fits those really well. William Chan fit his role really well and as the drama went on, he became the embodiment of Fang Jianming. The way he controlled his emotions was perfect. They are a breathtaking couple to look at and share amazing chemistry. Xu Kai Cheng seemed to overact a bit in the beginning, but a few episodes in, his moody emperor became my favourite character. Like William Chan, he became his character completely and I really looked forward to all his scenes. William Chan and Xu Kai Cheng's chemistry was also great. The brotherhood their characters shared was so apparent and so heartwarming. Despite the fact that there are three couples that the story follows, this is not really a drama that's completely centered on romance and I really appreciated that. There are plenty of schemes and battles. The drama is also absolutely gorgeous. The scenery, the costumes, the music and all the sets are beautiful. All in all, I really loved this drama and I would recommend it to anyone who loves costume dramas.

They finally started filming. Exciting!!! So Deng Wei is Tu Shan Jing after all. Also, there's no way Xiang Liu is a guest role. He's been there for the FL since the beginning till the end.

Depends on the drama. I suppose for this one I might skip Su Jin, because she was really annoying the first time around. I recently rewatched The Untamed and tried skipping some scenes, but ended up not being able to skip too much. We'll see.

5 years have passed. Time to rewatch

Their relationship is more obviously romantic in the novel. They are practically a married couple.

I have read the book, so that's the reason why I was leaning towards Deng Wei as Xiang Liu. Xiang Liu is definitely the more complex of the two. In my opinion also the more interesting. Tu Shan Jing is loyal and steadfast and gentle. So both characters have merit and both will be a joy to watch portrayed on screen. Preference aside, I suppose at this point we can't really tell who will do better. I just hope the drama will be released sooner rather than later, because I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm not really familiar with Tan Jian Ci, so I can't comment on his acting, but the picture on MDL makes him look a bit too sweet for Xiang Liu. I imagined Xiang Liu to be a bit more cold and charismatic looking, which Deng Wei would be able to pull off really well. Based on his looks, Tan Jian Ci would fit Tu Shanjing more. But of course that's only my opinion.

There are definitely some actors who don't belong on this list and I don't really agree with the order, but I was surprised to see many great actors. I expected there to be more idols on this list.

Kim Hee Sun and Lee Soo Hyuk are enough reason to check this out. A new drama for my to watch list

Where does it say that he's supposed to be decades older? As far as I understood, he's not even 1 decade older that she is.

Based on the cast list, it looks like Deng Wei will be playing Xiang Liu. If that's true, it's a perfect choice. Yang Zi will also be perfect. Can't wait for this.

I watched this not long after it came out and I must say, it's not very memorable. I don't remember most of the things that happened in this drama. I find it telling that I remember the stories of some of the side characters better than Kasuo's story. He was the most boring and irritating character of the bunch by far. Wasn't all the impressed by Li Luo either. I was more invested in Ying Kong Shi and Yan Da and some of the other side characters.
