My, you made me laugh for a quarter of an hour with that Persian cat and piraña image...
When I finish watching this lovely, lovely drama I'm going to come here and read it again. :D
What a lovely review!
Possibly, the most balanced I've read up to now on this very addictive drama. You perfectly captured the charm of the characters, and I loved reading about your rewatching experience, as I've done the same craze with a few dramas myself. :)
I understand everyone who loved this drama is ready to come to its rescue every time a critic is voiced, but allow…
Yes, and it's mighty irritating, as well as unjust, I know. It happens with a lot of popular dramas. It isn't a problem restricted to this drama, and it's not more unfair than having a show climb the "charts" by giving it a high rating in advance just because XY-oppa is in it (I'm not referring to this one).
I understand your frustration, but my comment concerns the problem of having a fair, sedate discussion about this drama in particular.
Whatever, it's just my opinion.
I understand everyone who loved this drama is ready to come to its rescue every time a critic is voiced, but allow me to point out to you all how incredibly hard it is for anyone on this page to express a slightly different opinion other than the general "best drama ever" comment.
I am not a troll, nor did it ever cross my mind to go around giving 1 to whatever drama just because, nor do I judge an actress by her nose, so I kindly ask you not to assault me when I say I dropped this drama. I was annoyed by the way psychiatric cases were (mis)handled, I was annoyed by the childish motivations of the female lead and I was annoyed by some very trite melodrama tricks.
In short, a little dissent should be permitted.
People go around giving 10s to dramas that haven't even aired yet, aren't they trolls too?
Please forgive me for intruding, I liked your review and agree on many points, but in what way was this drama…
Stay well away from Code Blue, then. It is a depressing drama, very focused on medical procedures. I'd say characterization is way better than it is in Buzzer Beat, however we don't get to see much of the private lives of these people, which is a shame, as they are all mighty intriguing.
As for Kurosagi, I loved it because Yamapi's got to play so many different roles. The plot is thrilling, which may leave you with a bitter taste at the end. The movie I truly hated, it was nothing I had been anxiously awaiting. Meh.
As for Summer Nude, I'd love to know what you think of it. he's gorgeous in it, but I'm not sure the plot convinced me.
Finally, Horikita Maki is in Kurosagi as well as in Nobuta, I'm afraid. ;)

Hi Kristal, I don't get notification for comments on reviews either, so you don't need to apologize, as I'm replying quite late too. :)
I believe I've understood your complaint. I do agree that this drama doesn't do such a great job at characterization, nor is the ending anything more than the usual pink bow every other rom-com gets out of nowhere.
As for Riko running to see the match, I don't think her "bravado" will endanger her musical career. The way I interpreted the whole scene: she ran to be there for an important match, only to go back to study until she's settled in an orchestra. Their relationship may be a distant one for a while, until they are able to reunite.
Which obvisously is in contrast with their earlier decision to separate and her getting rid of the phone, of all things! So, if the drama has a major flaw, in my eyes is that of creating drama where there was no need for one. If they had to settle for a distant relationship, they could have done so at once.
As for May... well. I actually like her. The funny side of her character is that she's so focused on mature and settled men, she ends up with the youngest and less solid of the whole bunch, lol. I think her purpose in the story is to deliver the comic without which this drama would be just a needless melo.
To be honest, I find the comments of some watchers a lot more sexist than the drama itself: where the drama at least tries to explain Natzuki's behaviour (the real bastard being the other guy), most of the people watching can't seem to stop calling her the worst names. I'm not condoning cheating either, but those black and white comments always get me all fired up. lol
Anyway, thanks for the talk. :)
If you like Yamapi (as I do), may I suggest you watch Proposal Daisakusen - special included!! and Code Blue (great medical drama, no romance, I'm afraid). I love Nobuta wo produce and Kurosagi too, but I don't know if they fit the bill for you. :)
I was also a bit upset with the ending of this drama...I mean she had gone as far as ending everything and going…
LOL, please forgive me for replying to your comment with as "little" as a two year delay! I stumbled on this page per chance and just thought I would add my 2 cents. Funnily, I remember this drama very well, despite the fact that I saw it almost 5 years ago. It isn't that important a discussion, anyway, but thanks a lot for replying with your thoughts. :)
Please forgive me for intruding, I liked your review and agree on many points, but in what way was this drama sexist (mostly when compared to other J romances)?

The way I see it, the ending made a lot of sense. She was never really in love with Takuma, not in the romantic sense of the word. It was more of a mother instinct (the one she never experienced with a child of her own). Takuma however worked as a trigger: his puppy-like fascination for her and the direct way he expressed his feelings, which is typical of youth, awoke her from the lethargic, uneventuful life she had been living up to that point. What she needed wasn't a new love, but a new life in which she could express herself as a woman and not simply as a wife or daughter.
She never forgot, not even for a second, the big age gap.
Even Takuma was more in need of a mother than a lover, but was simply too young and emotional to recognize it.
I don't think the writers were scared of the unconventional, I simply believe the message they wanted to convey had nothing or little to do with adultery - that's why the so-called adultery was never acted out.
By the ending, one may infere that she'll go back with her ex husband at some point, or that she finally found her dimention and self-awareness. This drama is unconventional in the sense that it portrays a woman who isn't defined by pursuing romantic love.
I find a lot of cheesy moments are cringe-worthy. They should take out those moments. There are also a lot of…
I agree. I can accept a bit of cheese by the end of a romance, but not while building it. That's why I maintain Robin's too perfect a character to be truly likable - I know, I know, he's adorable and all, but once we have established he's the good side, his prolongued presence doesn't add anything to the story, imo.
When I finish watching this lovely, lovely drama I'm going to come here and read it again. :D

It seems I'm growing. When I'll finally have become an adult, I'll let you know. ;)
If someone had told me I would one day enjoy the saeguk genre, I'd have laughed, silly me. ;)

Wow, now this sounds interesting... *___^
So I hear you well, thanks for this review.
