LOL!! This is really funny...I actually saw all three saeguks and they are all brilliant although completely different…
Since you're a bit of an expert in period dramas, I wonder why you gave The Princess' Man a much lower score than the other fusion saeguks in your list. The reason why I ask is that so many people have recommended it to me, but either because I was still in the phase "everything BUT period dramas", or simply because it didn't spark my curiosity, I tried and dropped it by episode 2 (or 3, can't remember now). I'm always in favour of passionate love stories, but there was something about that drama, from the very beginning, that made me go... meh.

Although I know this might not be the best place to tell a long and detailed story of your family, I LOVED to read about it and wished you had written more. These kind of stories are not old or grand enough to be learned in school, and they are not recent enough to always be remembered by the new generation; the risk of them going lost is so high, I'm truly touched you decided to give us a glimpse into it and let us share in it.
Thank you for this lovely review, Reise. I read it in one breath. :)

Ah, you write as beautifully as ever! I believe I actually have this series on my PTW, but never got around to…
Thank you! :D
Honestly, I used to mix up some of these period dramas too, mainly The Moon/Sun; A Tree with deep Roots and Painter in the Wind. To my ears it sounded a little like a trilogy of natural elements, lol.
So, as you see you're not alone! ;)

I haven't seen the drama, nor was it ever on my radar, but accept my heartfelt thanks for your hilarious review. I'm sorry you had to go through all those fogeys in hanbok to write it, but be aware it was not in vain: it helped me cross out this drama from future lists. ;)

By far, one of the best reviews I've ever read.
I didn't like the drama and could not connect to any of the characters, but this review is commendable both in style as well as in courage. More kudos to you for dissecting your painful personal experience and put in on display for readers to ponder over.
I can only wish you have already found or will soon find the same empathy and love everyone needs, to stay out of that deep pond of desperation you so terribly well describe.
Please accept a virtual but warm hug from a perfect stranger like me, despite my inability to like this drama.

I have seen none of these dramas, and after reading your hilarious set of reviews, I can safely say: thank heavens!
Not that I would have picked them in the first place, honestly. I am no fan of Song Seung Hun, nor of Joo Won. I suppose they are sexy and obviously every girl is entitled to her personal taste, but everytime I tried to watch something with either one of the two actors in it, my hormones invariably remained calmer then while doing crochet. And since my neurons weren't stirred by the rest of your list either, you can see why I didn't even put them on my list.
Thanks for confirming my feeling, but most of all, thank you for the crazy, super funny read. :D

Ciao Eleonora,
Continua a partecipare - io ti leggerò comunque. :)

the plot seems really intersting, a love triangle with the same person xD but he doesn't need to be a chaebol,…
I agree. :)
However, since he must have a split personality, it's possible they are going to play on the chaebol/normal guy aspect too. Perhaps?

Binnieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! *faints for a second*

I can't see a better choice than him to play 2 characters in one. The idea is actually brilliant, I'll jump on this ship without hesitation.
Thanks for the great piece of news, Skye. :)

No one can perfectly play the part of Do manager, and seriously who is going to play cheon song yi's part,I love…
I agree. She's a blast, both as an actress as well as the character she plays. This is the kind of drama where I fell in love with her before falling for him - which eventually happened, of course. ;);)

I wish there were at least one review for this drama which doesn't give away the ending, one way or another. Sorry people, but could you refrain from mentioning the end, or if you have to, stick to a non-committal "I liked it/I didn't"?
I understand you all want to convey your emotions, however keep in mind some of us use reviews as a starting point, but don't want to know who dies, who lives, and at which minute.
Thank you.

I agree with every word, to the point I'd love to write a review but I fear I's going to be redundant.
Whatever. The drama was a blast and I enjoyed it immensely. I picked it up after reading your review, so I can only thank you. :)

to this day I still don't understand why his balcony is on the right side of her apartment even though the doors…
Hahahaha, I love you, muffty. I noticed too, and went as far as drawing an imaginary blueprint of the building: ever seen a painting by Escher? He's the only one who would make it work, lol. ;)

Humph.
I love original Korean shows and usually hate their remakes of Japanese stuff.
I doubt this is going to be an exception, especially since I'm a huge fan of Nodame the way it is.
I realize this is premature and one can't judge something without having seen it. It's just a very personal feeling, and one that may be contradicted at any time, but here it is.

I haven't seen the Japanese version of it, should I watch it before or after the Korean one?
You should, yes. :)
I do think Liar Game is THE Japanese drama. It has a style of its own, which is a good part of its success and quality.
While I love K-dramas, I doubt they'll give justice to the Japanese version. And for once, I dare everyone say the Koreans are better looking: beating Shota-kun is no piece of cake! ;)

Hahahahahahaha,
I truly love your review. Not only it's A LOT funnier than the drama, I also agree with every word.
And here I had thought my review was a little harsh... lol.

It's good to know I am not alone. Everyone seems to love the drama and I didn't even bother finishing it (maybe…
Oh, how refreshing and good to find a kindred spirit regarding this drama.
I'll go as far as to say that basically all Hong Sister's drama have the same effect on me, the self inflicted boredom you so rightly mention.
And with this I've just sealed my doom for good. ;)

Thank you my friend,
I finally come to read your comment, after a very... very long break (the reasons of which are even longer to explain).
While it sounds weird for me to comment on my own review, I must say it: yes, even writing the review was more entertaining than the drama itself. LOL
Hug you, Aryael. :D

Honestly, I am not looking forward to a western remake of this. While the plot lends itself to any number of revisitations, the charm of it is all Korean. As I see it, that very special candour that makes it romantic and funny can't be imitated; it can be hit off at best and totally dulled at worst.
Don't get me wrong, there are awesome western dramas out there, but what makes any work of fiction special is always its being immersed in whatever culture it depicts. There's a special quality in Asian dramas that is so subtle it's quite hard to define it in words. Whatever that is, it's the reason why we are addicted. Even the humour is eminently Asian, not to mention the constant eating, the mother's meddling, the lovely naiveté of kisses and skinship.
Last but not least, the format. What was born as a fully completed story, with a start and an end, in an American remake can only have 2 results:
1. it's not a success and they leave everyone dried mouthed with a non-ending
2. it's a success and they go on and on, morphing a lovely alien into a superhero Superman style (yuck). They could even decide to have him or her have other love stories - triple yuck!
