They tend to do that for all dramas, regardless of how they perform. It's just weird. If a drama is popular, then lengthening the airing schedule will not affect much because people will be more willing to wait. But for a drama that's losing its steam, the gap will just hurt its viewership even more. It would've been better if they kept the schedule flexible and adjust it according to how the drama is performing.

A 7.7 is indeed too low for this drama. It does have some jarring issues, but by MDL standards, it should still have an 8.
I've watched 7.7 dramas on this site and they are waaaay worse than this drama. Miss The Dragon for example (not trying to hate but I need to use it as a benchmark to make sense of the scoring system here), that drama has worse writing (every other scene has something illogical about it), plot development (the plot repeats itself 3 times), production value (the sets look plastic), and acting (Dylan Wang was stiffer than Yang Chao Yue in that drama - I know he improved a lot in LBFAD tho). There is no way TJOCZ deserves the same score as Miss The Dragon.

Oh, they were rehearsing for the kiss scene where CZ was lying beneath LYF. A man pretended to be CZ, I think he was a stand in to demonstrate how it's supposed to be done, so LYF looked like he was gonna kiss the man XD

For me, this drama has some differences from Journey of Flower. For example the ML here is not as cold as Bai Zi Hua, and I remember Journey of Flower has some comedy and adventure elements at the first half, but Journey of Chong Zi takes itself very seriously (almost too seriously) since the beginning. Journey of Chong Zi also has a lot more characters, and more stuff happening in the plot (the novel is longer), although I think some of the characters are kind of redundant. The two dramas have a similar general story, but the details are different. Most people who have read both the novels think the Chong Zi novel is better than the Journey of Flower novel, but this drama is not doing justice to the novel.

Those clips didn't pass the censorship review so they can't include it in the drama. But behind-the-scenes does not need to be reviewed so they can show the cut scenes there.
Is the drama really too boring? I was thinking of watching it.
The problem is not that it's boring but it has some plot holes and lazy writing. If you watch it, you have to lower your expectations and don't think too much into the plot.
