How many episodes do you think will be about her in her second life? I personally like that the ML isn't so perfect.…
Most of the story happens in her second life, from now all the way to the ending. The three lifetimes thing is just people misinterpreting the source material. The "lives" I was talking about in my original comment is more like her three personas or three identities. If we count real deaths, she only dies once.
Some of my thoughts towards the complaints about this drama.
1. FL's bad acting and annoying, immature character FL is supposed to be childish in her first life. Her three "lives" symbolize the three stages of growth of a person. Her first life is literally a child, she is naive, impulsive and she speaks her mind a little too much. She often says things against her own favor and does not know how to exercise her right of silence. But we're also shown that she has a clear concept of right and wrong and is not afraid to fight for what's right. She is the pure version of Chong Zi, the one with less evil aura. In her second life, she is less annoying. Her personality becomes more calm, composed, and obedient, but also more womanly and prone to being jealous and even sometimes schemy. The contrast is deliberate - she becomes more mature but her evil aura also becomes stronger. And in her third life, she becomes a true woman and adult and gratifies it. Those who do not like her character in the first 14 episodes can rest assured that she will have character development.
2. Jeremy does not have a chance to show his acting skills He will, trust me. ML's character is actually mental. There are hints of this in the early stage, like the toxic affection and over-protection, possessiveness he has for the FL. And the two extremes he takes - he either spoils her or kills her ruthlessly. He's not a righteous immortal, he's the evil mirror image of the FL. FL is an immortal living under a demon skin, he's a demon living under an immortal skin. Their contrast is the concept of the story. His problems get worse over time and he tries to fight it to maintain his immortal composure. The story will show him gradually going down that path. That requires good acting from the ML. They're still building up on this idea at the current moment.
3. The leads do not have chemistry They're not supposed to have chemistry in her first life. They are just master and disciple, and ML treats her like a child. Them falling in love with each other was an accident and this love had to be terminated abruptly due to her death. She reincarnates and comes back as a more womanly and romance-able person. ML also begins to reveal his selfish side of wanting to be with the FL, and we see him taking her back as disciple and being intimate with her even though it's wrong in a lot of fronts. The romance is slowburn and we're going to see more of it in FL's second life.
I keep telling myself there must have been something that he saw in this role... so still hoping for a chance…

Yin Fan has two weapons, and he discarded the one sword that played a role in killing her... Although ironic as…
Yeah he no longer wanted to use the sword that he used to kill her. It was said that immortals rarely change their weapon. In the scene where Yin Fan gifted Chong Zi her constellation staff, he said "immortals who discard their weapons will be cursed with not being able to find a proper replacement for them". So if he uses a different sword, it will never be as good as his original one, but he still replaced it because of his feelings.
Nice songs, personally I prefer the 2nd one, but the ending theme still remains my favourite.Whoever put the first…
Yeah, I loled when it showed Si Ma Miao Yuan's photo as the background. I dun wanna see her face when listening to the song XD
Zhuo Hao is definitely annoying and what he does is borderline sexual harassment. But I think he really does love Chong Zi and it's still kinda sad seeing how he was affected by her death.
Some new OSTs dropped today. My personal fav so far is 死生契阔 (In Death and Life): https://youtu.be/ZBAQ5RjmJsE About Chong Zi's love towards her shifu. "In death and life, we've made a promise" this breaks my heart because we know what happened to that promise.
Zhuo Hao's theme 浮生若梦 (Life Like A Dream) is also amazing: https://youtu.be/VK_6nDbCuwE The lyrics are about Zhuo Hao missing Chong Zi after she is dead. Another gut wrenching thing we don't talk about.
Yeah it was poorly done for sure. They sure did a disservice to the ML cause they have to try harder to give him…
He cried right after tho, and he's gonna cry more in the next episode. The episode 14 was cut very abruptly and at an awkward moment. We have yet to see all the characters generate a proper reaction to what happened. We didn't even seen Qin Ke break down. I think they're going to pick up from where they left off tmr.
You are correct. She is the daughter of Ni Lun, and the immortal who sacrificed herself to kill Ni Lun is indeed…
Mortals need to train and go through tribulations to become immortals, even if their parents are immortals. The mortal would inherit the powers of their parents, that's why Chong Zi has both the evil aura (from his father) AND the ability to gain immortal bones (from her mother). She is one of the few people who can see the immortal mountain, it's invisible to most people who do not have the fate to see it.
I think her origin is intentionally obscured by the demon clan. They've been keeping an eye on her ever since she was a baby.
My question is what will be the thing he holds to that makes him want to stay with her through all this mess?…
Oh, I personally wouldn't call him abusive. Abusive is not an accurate word to describe him. I can't explain because it's a little abstract and I can't go into the details here, but maybe you can just judge for yourself when it unfolds.
I guess this is the tragedy of love. So many guys are willing to do anything for her, but all she loves is the…
Technically it's her choice, and she knew what kind of risk she was taking. But then, love is irrational. If it were, people wouldn't "fall in love". Often times, love is blind and results in people getting hurt. I think this is pretty realistic, although we as audience would be really frustrated about it.
My question is what will be the thing he holds to that makes him want to stay with her through all this mess?…
His novel characterization was growingly possessive and, you could even say he was a bit insane towards the end. And the funny thing is, that's what I liked about the novel. The writer did a really good job writing a 3-dimensional ML. One who is righteous in the appearance but suppresses his inner desires so much that one day it all just tips over and bursts out like a volcano. It shows that beneath this immortal skin he is only human. And human love is often not selfless. It's kind of rough and questionable, yes, but the morale of the story is that there is no so-called immortal or demon, or a clear cut black and white. People are an embodiment of both. They have their "light" and their "dark" sides. If Chong Zi is the "light inside the dark", then his shifu is the "dark inside the light". That's why I call them the yin yang couple. I'm sure the poster is a reference of this, and also that black and white jade Chong Zi gifted to his shifu.
The real reason why Yin Fan took Chong Zi in as disciple was because he saw his true hidden self in her. Here we have a high immortal, with his heavy responsibilities for the world and an identity that does not allow him to truly express himself. Does he care about the world? Yes. But is he really passionate about his role and responsibilities? Definitely not as much as one may think.
Beneath these restrictions, he has these hidden personal needs, desires and convictions, that he has not confronted. He meets Chong Zi, a girl who speaks her mind and follows her heart. This is something he never knew to do, and through her, he connects with his true self, and what she does is a reflection of his true nature. He allows her to do whatever she wants, get in trouble without punishing her, and does a really poor job restricting her actions. That's because in nature, he is also rebellious, does not care about the rules, does not give a shit what those immortal people think of him. In this regard, he and his disciple are similar people. Two weirdos destined to live tgt in their own castle.
However, he is ultimately not as pure as his disciple, and that is where they differ and complete each other. In his immortal shell, there lives human flesh waiting to come out. He is actually a mirror image of his disciple, who amidst her dark aura, lives a pure soul that longs for light. They're the yin and yang couple. I think that's also what the poster is trying to convey.
My question is what will be the thing he holds to that makes him want to stay with her through all this mess?…
I'm not sure about the drama, but in the novel, the ML had a possessive love towards the FL and wanted her to stay by his side. You can see hints of this possessiveness and over-protection in the drama too, but now it's still at an early stage. He didn't really believe the good in her though. By the time she turned into a demon, he thought she had really become evil. He kept asking her to come back to receive her punishment, and said he would make sure they couldn't kill her. He was also trying to learn a heart purifying spell that could remove her dark aura, but he kept failing and almost fell ill from trying too hard. He never gave up on Chong Zi, but he never understood Chong Zi or tried to trust her.
