There was a translation error at the part where they talk about the wedding:
They said the wedding can unlock both party's full powers, not just CH's. The subtitles were wrong. Since they didn't finish the wedding, Xiyun couldn't restore her full power and so she had difficulties handling Tai Sui. CH also said this during the final battle.
My theory and observation: When Xiyun kissed DFQC, the phenomenon that was supposed to happen at the wedding happened to them instead. Xiyun unlocked her full goddess powers (this was mentioned as a oneliner after their kiss so some might have missed it), and at the same time DFQC acquired Liuli fire.
When I think that it was really Orchid, that part of her that's inside DFQC, that was in DFQC's dream and she…
Yes, I share the same sentiment. The theory that the XLH in the dream was really her makes the scenes much much more meaningful, and at the same time gut wrenching. The part where she says "if you revive me, I will marry someone else" T.T
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I wish the drama was slightly longer so that the last 5 episodes could…
Honestly, it pains me whenever I think about it. I don't think I can ever recover from this. If they release a director's cut or a special episode, I can be at peace.
OMG this video, shows how chaotic they are together, like despite being so immerse in their roles and this being…
They have soooo much off-screen chemistry!! And I think that's one of the reasons why they had good acting and chemistry in this drama - because they were comfortable with each other.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I wish the drama was slightly longer so that the last 5 episodes could be fully fleshed out. I feel like they had so much they wanted to squeeze in, but given the 36 episode cap they couldn't and that made it rushed. A lot of background information and deus ex machina was thrown in at the last minute to cause/resolve certain events, which could have been more naturally introduced if there was more time. The mortal realm was also a bit slower than the rest of the drama, so maybe they could have shortened that part to make room for the finale arc. I still really like the drama and it's one of my favorites of all time, but I think the writing was weaker towards the end compared to the first half.
I think they didn't expect this to get so popular, and all Sweet On series have 36 episodes. Among many dramas, this one REALLY deserved to be longer, especially when there are so many dramas out there with lesser quality but got a ridiculous amount of episodes.
Actually love how DY and CH remained in a platonic relationship
Danyin best girl! I loved her character development honestly. Instead of staying spoiled and petty, she went through a lot of self reflection and eventually became a very respectable person who found her own meaningful pursuits other than love. I also loved her sisterhood with Jieli. They had this "I hate you but I actually love you" thing going on, it was so cute. I don't understand why some people say the screentime for the side characters should have been cut out, because honestly, these people deserved proper closure too and I don't think their 15 minutes of screentime was the cause of the finale being rushed. It is more about the general pacing itself.
I guess we gonna reach 20k comments soon. And the drama hasnt been out even 1 month.I was looking at other more…
This is the magic of CLJ. It doesn't have as big of a fanbase as some other famous dramas, but it definitely has one of the most active fanbases ever. So much discussion, theories, fanmade content and reviews coming out in such a short period of time - it is a rare sight, really.
One thing I forgot mentioning in my comments last night: Love how DFQC became a puppy in front of XLH in the last…
Yessss! I don't understand why so many people (especially in China) are complaining about him acting out of character during those scenes. First of all, he almost lost his one true love for eternity, which is SUPER traumatic and it is sooo fortunate that she got to come back. Any person would act like a dog at that point, because of how precious the other person is. Plus, DFQC's badassery comes from him doing whatever he wants, disregarding what everyone else thinks, and that includes deciding for himself how to treat his lover. He's not here to answer to anyone's expectations neither does he have to protect his masculine ego.
I just realized I was robbed of the boat scene in the animated intro...Let me have a moment with whoever who edited…
I guess that boat illustration is just a reference to the two times they were on a boat tgt. First time was XLH saving DFQC by drugging him, second time DFQC saving her from the Shuiyuntian people and bringing her to Moon tribe.
One person can have several roles at once, so in my imagination, she would be both the Xilan goddess and the Moon…
I'm assuming she would also have had two roles if she married CH. Being Xilan goddess means she is the leader of her own realm and the marriage wouldn't make her become a subordinate of Shuiyuntian for example. Same logic applies to if she married into the Moon tribe. Funny for people to think it has to be one or the other.
Question about a scene I saw in the trailer that wasn't in the drama
Did I stupidly miss a scene while watching, or was one of the scenes in the trailer cut out from the final release? There was a scene showing DFQC and CH talking on Xishan, CH asked DFQC "are you really going to sacrifice yourself for her?" and DFQC replied yes. I don't remember seeing that happen. I only remember they had a conversation where DFQC got mad at CH thinking he was glad about the marriage and CH saying he also wants XLH to come back.
My theory and observation:
When Xiyun kissed DFQC, the phenomenon that was supposed to happen at the wedding happened to them instead. Xiyun unlocked her full goddess powers (this was mentioned as a oneliner after their kiss so some might have missed it), and at the same time DFQC acquired Liuli fire.

One can NEVER believe in trailers again.
