You have a point. It seems that DFQC wants to balance both his love life and his other goals, while XLH has decided for now that she will be hiding her feelings of love to protect her clan. This is the place where they diverge and why they are at odds right now. Once XLH's feelings have grown too strong for her to ignore and she understands that she can't leave him when he is in trouble, she will probably change and think more for him. I think that once she activates her Xilan powers, she can also help protect DFQC at his weaker moments.

I don't think it was a result of inconsistency. It's one thing to believe that having emotions and basing decisions off emotions is beneficial, but another thing to want your heart exposed to someone else 24/7. There's a difference between wanting to share emotions vs wanting to be tapped on, because for the former, you still have the agency over what you share. For example, XLH can ask DFQC why he's in the mortal realm, but DFQC can choose not to tell her, and this is because he is allowed to have secrets as an individual, and XLH cannot force him.
The reason why Orchid is wearing the pin is because she is in love with him now, but she doesn't want him to know. And she has the right to not confess to him. It's not an act of dishonesty. She does lie to DFQC about the reason why she's down the mortal realm tho, while asking DFQC to be honest about his motives. That's what I would call an inconsistency. However, DFQC was the one who did sth suspicious first, because he ordered Jieli to ask XLH about tribulations, knowing XLH would not like it if he tried to take Chi Di's primordial spirit. This compelled XLH to investigate.

He explained that his frustration comes from the fact that he was conditioned in his upbringing that the only way to become powerful was to not be affected by emotions, because if you show empathy, you will be annihilated. This is similar to the conversation that he had with XLH in the forest during XLH's heavenly realm exam. XLH explained to him that having emotions is actually beneficial sometimes, and later on he began to understand this. He also allowed her to proceed with questioning his father because he was also curious about his father's true motives.

And she literally is only focusing on the several people who were good to her - her master Siming, her fds, her aunt. In no way did the drama paint her as a perfect saint who is capable of big picture thinking for the 3 realms - not until she becomes Xilan goddess at least (her personality will change after her full primordial form is restored, XLH is only part of her spirit which is why she seems more naive). The fact that she doesn't have the mind of a CEO managing a million dollar business doesn't automatically mean she is selfish and stupid. The world is not that binary. She at least knows what is important to her and she knows her responsibilities as a fairy. Yes, you made a good point. When she said she wanted to help him revive the tree, they both saw that the tree had already been revived. It was fate that put them tgt, her being the only person in the entire universe who could revive any plant (because she is Xilan goddess) and she happened to meet him and touch his tree without even knowing what she did.
