I’m sorry…. I missed your point in your various ramblings. As you stated I’m entitled to my opinion (which was asked by the previous poster). I’ll give you an A for effort, but it’s ok for MDL users to post their opinions. Your tone is completely unnecessary, so please save your “facts” for a poster who actually asked for them!

I teach in a suburban area of the city. We are talking about students who drive BMWs, Mercedes, Maserati, etc. Many of my students show me grace because I am very inclusive, and it is not an issue for me to use preferred pronouns with them. I have never had an attitude from a student, but I am apologetic when I make a mistake.

Younger characters typically don't, but I believe the characters refer to themselves 3rd person as part of the honorifics within the culture. I am studying Korean and it's one of the first things you learn. Hierarchy is incredibly important to Asian cultures and respect is built into the language.

I feel that America was founded on the idea of rebelling against Great Britain. We are pretty much the only country that doesn't use the metric system, Celsius, and we generally don't have a traditional culture. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but many of our foods are borrowed from other cultures, we don't have clothing that is traditional etc. Everything I think of as culture doesn't exist in the US. And yes the US has a culture within itself, but it is built on so many different cultures. When many countries have strict law and order, the US is lax. I'm not saying the US isn't a great country. There is a reason when people immigrate here and want to attend American colleges. Sorry for the rant. I'm going through a crisis where I am in love with a culture that is not my own.

You are cracking me up over here! I teach in the US and the pronoun usage is a thing. I teach 9-12 grades.

If you watch Korean drams, you may notice that people refer to characters by name or title instead of using pronouns in general. Even a mother talking will refer to themselves as mom. They will say your mother loves you versus I love you. It’s gender neutral haven verses Spanish, French, German that relies on gender.

I don’t disagree with you. Some Asian languages don’t use gender specific pronouns. It is ridiculous to even think about having an entire language change how they speak to accommodate the minor population of people who prefer non-gender specific pronouns. I have quite a few students who use alternative pronouns and it I takes time to keep track and adjust. I have found just using they/them works in most cases, but I worry about offending others too.

I think your idea of the dictionaries coming up with these pronouns is ingenious.

I agree with you here. And I also agree that people are inconsiderate and use this as an excuse to not use preferred pronouns. In this case, Wen’s friends are in shock, but seem supportive, so it’s probably the former.

So……. Since when is Diao on a first name basis with Kuea’s friends??? I must be sleeping on this show to miss their deep friendship. He must be the invisible force behind their auto tech group…

And just when I get the kiss I’ve been sticking around these miserable weeks for…. Had to go and ruin it with a trip and fall into accidental kiss. Then a public kiss in front of all their friends. All of their close moments have been when they were alone and they just had to make their first kiss public. Is privacy too much to ask? At least they weren’t reduced to just friends.

At the risk of being cancelled, I’m looking forward to how they write the PetexVegas storyline. More interested in how the actor play the roles. I love watching shows with dark topics and topics that stray from the typical happy endings that are always expected. Especially in romance. I’m sure we would feel a lot different if this is happening in real life. Just because I may enjoy watching this content on TV doesn’t mean I would enjoy it happening to real people.

Hahahaha so For me it depends on the story you follow. It’s not as bad as Physical therapy, but it’s not the greatest story either. I could at least.

They have 10 more episodes to develop PetexVegas. They better not give me a TeamxWin situation. I expect more than 20 minutes of screen time and 6 special episodes.

I agree with this 1000 times over! I really wish they added a better reunion between Nut and Tarn. The writers set up their love story so perfectly through the flashbacks that I was looking for fireworks and cannons when they finally reunited. It feels like people dislike Tarn for his looks and not for his character…..

I’m also pretty scarred that Tofu came back to life in a crematorium. That was just plain wrong. He was human so he had to have a human death, but damn. They could have given him life before he was placed in that oven. But I supposed it would have been more traumatic if h they found a teddy bear instead of a human body.

What exactly was cut and how impactful are the cuts to the ending?

Yes, that makes me sad too. I personally liked the ending, just not the execution. I was team NutTarn after Nut revealed the development of their relationship… I would have loved to see some of those intimate moments between Tarn and Nut once Tarn woke up from his coma, and the two decided to enter into a relationship. I never felt Nut was over Tarn even when Nut expressed his love for Tofu. It’s perfectly acceptable to love two people, but I felt Nut’s love for Tofu was simply access and comfort. The relationship with Tarn ended on Sib’s terms, so there was never a real ending to their love.

They set up Tofu’s narration and the intentional drinking of a beverage Tofu suspected was tainted to give us a plausible reason for Tofu to return to a bear, and Nut to explore his first love. While that part was great, the great bear escape and showing very little of Nut’s reunion with Tarn left a sour taste in my mouth. Tofu confessed to Nut about being the bear, and it died with Nut’s punch. I haven’t found all of my top ten gay shows, but this one was added. At the end of the day, I’m a sucker for a great story, and despite the flawed ending, this was one helluva ride!

And there is nothing left to say except I am still dying an hour after reading this. Once you mentioned testicles dropping, it was over. I was really trying not to hate on Kuea. I really want to give him room to grow from a puppet into a real boy! Hia must have that Magic D Power because I’m not sure there is hope for Kuea at this point.

I’m really going to miss this banter when this show is over.

Gen’s character bothered me so much at times. His parents were great in accepting and embracing him being gay, but Gen forgot that not all parents are amazing, and some will try to beat the gay out of their kids. Gen was coming from a place of love, but his character was so flat. I was waiting for a moment for him to actually listen to Song’s fears and insecurities, and try to understand how Song felt. That moment never came for me. I thought we were going to get there when Song was explaining dad’s obsession with Neung, and Gen missed it. He partially redeemed himself when he stayed with Song during the coming out speech to dad.

I wonder what my students would think of me neglecting grading their papers to post on MDL…. and being obsessed with watching gay romance shows. This double life I lead is almost as exciting as watching Vegas.. naked staring at himself in the mirror.

I haven’t read the novel yet, so I cannot compare. It seems Ike lot of people compare the show to the novel and I firmly believe I should not have to read the novel to get a picture the show should be delivering. Based on the prior episodes, the attraction and interest is there, so I like to believe the writers were going for the more romantic/can’t keep my hands to myself vibe. But I respect all opinions and I love reading different interpretations.
