I agree, but it's a solid cdrama, with an ending that isn't totally butchered. Hard to come by these says. I felt the same with Blossom.

Yes, that's the novel's plot but it would not work here - the prince wouldn't sell Hongrang ever. But I'm thinking now about this turn of events:
1. Hongrang escapes from his home
2. He is caprured by the prince
3. He escapes the prince
4. Kkot nim finds him somehow
5. As he is still a fugutive and his original owners are looking for him, Kkot nim goes back with Hongrang there and buys him, so he is no longer wanted.

It doesn't make sense to me either. Maybe he was abducted before the adoption, and then escaped and went back to Kkot nim? Something like that...

I'd say to make the mother go crazy and then bring the fake Hongrang to finish her revenge on the family.

He had a short cameo in Kill Bok Sun as an assasin and it was... perfect. He is made for dark roles.

Can someone explain the timeline regarding Jae I's birth? I mean, was she conceived before or after Kkot Nim's child, and before or after her father married Yeon Ui? And if Jae I was conceived after her father married, who was her mother (a concubine?) and how the hell did Yeon Ui allow it? I'm at ep 10 so I dunno if it will be explained further, but I don't think so

I read somewhere that in the novel he didn't want his wife to treat Jae I even worse, so he didn't show any care for her. But that is a bullshit reason of a man who only cares about his position in the guild and his power.

Also as his only blood child (even tho illigitimate) she was the only rightful heir to the guild, especially when Mu Jin was sentenced. That is why he never married her off. She was his insurance.

As much as the story isn't perfect, this drama brings a lot to the table. Incredible visuals, OST, and I also love the winter costumes, have never seen them!

I honestly can't remember a kdrama that made such an impression on me with its ost.
