I actually thought the story would've been much more interesting if it was about the male lead and the female…
YES. I thought it would be that kind of show with much more of a business side of things, something like Hot Stove League, the best one from the top of my mind. It started pretty well, with the ML's desire to become the director, him spotting some missed opportunities like the cafe and whatnot but then we got NOTHING. Just a quick mention that the manager of the cafe was changed and now 'everybody says it's a perfect dating spot' and some other things like using it as a wedding venue. Disappointing.
Also, what's up with parents in kdramas cutting off their children's credit cards? Sure they work for them but they make their own money? Is it some Korean thing I have no idea about?
I'm at ep 10 and I honestly find it difficult to say what happened in those 10 hours... Ep 1 was pretty cute but from then on the main couple each episode takes one step forward and 2 steps back. Main lead was interesting for like 2 episodes and then became pretty annoying. Don't really believe their relationship too - like the kisses came so suddenly? 1. How can you kiss someone who's just been talking about the tragic story of his late mother? Hug him goddamit, give him comfort, this ain't time for romancing! 2. She's slapping him cause she is offended by his words and he says to her 'stop or I won't be able to hold back'. Sorry sir? Did all the slapping turn you on? I mean you do you but it's a PG-13 kdrama and it came from nowhere...
For me, the main leads in S1 had a way more compelling storylines and character development, won't lie. But at the same time their character arcs seemed more complete than of the MLs in S2? So maybe that's a better choice to run with them
It was cute, for sure it could have fit into 12 episodes and at times it wasn't the most clever or groundbreaking show under the sun, but I'd be lying if I said that it wasn't somewhat enjoyable. The chemistry was there, just wish that we got to see PEB in woman's clothes more, cause she was STUNNING here.
EAW has its flaws. When the last 4 eps aired, I was so frustrated and heartbroken with some turns of events. But now, looking from a distance, it was a rare show which touched my heart. It made me want to watch every second of it. Its only major flaw to me is that there just wasn't enough time - to deepen the backstories of some characters, to make certain elements of the story resonate more, to not worry the viewers so much about our lovely whale couple breaking up. I loved most of the cases too, and I'm not one for a court drama, but this kept me interested at all times. I could see my life in it. I loved the relationship, although a bit cliche, such chemistry just doesn't happen that often. And after reading few comments, I'm starting to agree that the conflict was necessary, and im the end it was handled fairly well (though it was a bit overdramatic, and I still wish there were 4 more episodes after that. But I just can't be mad). When the show was at its best, it was extraordinary. When it wasn't, it was still a fun and memorable watch. It will stay with me for a long time. If the S2 airs, I will wait for it like crazy. If not, then I'll keep S1 as a precious memory. And I will tune in for future shows of the writer - she has a lot to work on, but I am pretty sure that she can get even better. Not everything we work on can be perfect. But EAW for sure was full of heart.
As for the rating - sure, it might not deserve such a high rating, technically speaking. But I can say that with so many other top shows. I'd rather give a higher rating to a flawed show I loved, which has touched my heart, than to a show which was technically perfect, but at the same time meaningless to me and I couldn't relate to it at all.
Do you guys really think that S2 will happen? I honestly feel like there's a little chance of that, like maybe 20%? So for now I don't really consider it a possibility...
Did i understand it correctly that Junho/YW got back together in the last ten minutes of the drama with the reasoning…
Yeah, if it was going to be resolved so easily anyways, there was no reason for them not to put it all in ep 15 instead of all those useless dramatic scenes and then in ep 16 give us some more meaningful scenes. Damn...
Yeah, just first impressions as I've yet to see the ep with english subtitles. Also the romance is one of major plotlines (or at least was in previous eps), so it shouldnt be surprising that I want it to be fleshed out and resolved properly.
At least we didn't get an open ending... But what can I say, I felt like our main couple really got next to none screentime this episode... Just a few minutes more would make such a difference... The resolution was sweet but looking at it realistically, it did feel like they just swept everything under a rug. Relieved but unsatisfied...
Whatever the ending may be, I'll try to focus on all the wonderful moments and the insight to autistic people lives EAW gave me. It was not a perfect drama, but I hope we can all remember this one fondly and without much bitter feelings...
