Beside the bullshit galore, it had lots of sweet, underappreciated moments between the leads and TK going full appa mode which i focus on in my tweets. Well I chose the right day to be away bc if I had to write a summary about this episode my blood vessels would have exploded and ended my existence. This is probably the first time ever I'm opting for waiting for the subs before watching because NOPENOPNOPENOPE. Even under the aspect of korean culture and confucian tenets I can't fathom, how parents can treat their children like complete property and objects to do with what they please. And yeah they really threw the pendelum in the whole other, skin-crawling direction with JH. Instead of toning him down as started briefly in eps 30 they amped up his delusion and obsession which... yikes. It was never about the kid but him having control over YD, as he said 'for life.' So in his Pov any resistance of her to not come back to him is futile, hence his creepy persistence on it and stalking her. It's not love even if he is deluded to think it is. It's the direct opposite of it, in fact. The attempt to possess and control her and Haneul, more like. Like prized pets to feed his fragile ego and 'win' against TK. Needless to say the toys in his apartment feel more like a threat than anything else.

With how the writers dropping hints left and right in a spiderman pointing meme, it is pretty sure to assume BN is, in fact ttalgi. And by now, i actually think they amped up the whole story in craziness and rewrote a couple characters (JH who was supposed to be toned down instead of, you know turning into this unhinged stalker trying to collect YD and HN like pets and wear their skin most likely, yikes. Howler Monkey, i don't need to explain this but she was meant to come around as quickly as her husband did in two eps max, not still being stewing in resentment a year later, losing her shit whenever someone mentions YD, and last but not least YD's coward and ghosting marathon of course, that came out of the left field too considering the prior episodes) to make ttalgi a central plot instead just a side one that runs along the leads growing as a family and married couple like you know you expect to see in a FAMILY DRAMA (we could have had it aaaaaaalll)

What i mean by this, through the changes the writers did eliminate any other possibilities for the leads to solve their dilemma other than going over fam connection, in order to protect Haneul from this aggressive, harassing creep. First part of it is of course dialing up trashgremlin, making him unrelenting and unhinged in the pursuit of his goal. Like... literally. Yikes. His menace also serves as a window for the viewer to find more empathy for YD again after she, well, was a bit (much) of a callous asshole lately. To show her reasons why she acted as she did. I doubt we will see a restraining order or the like because hey that would be too logical but if i don't see the leads sitting in a lawyers office soon i will drag them in there personally.

However this whole thing is forcing the leads into immediate action and thus they can't wait it out at their apartment bc it or rather the creep will only escalate further as time passes. As said they need to take the first steps on their own for protection, but in the long haul they will need the support of their families against JH. Meaning that tomorrow the whole dragging YD out will result in later reconciling with Oh fam, so the leads have them at their backs again as support. Which is needed given how JH is stalking them too EVERY DAY and they need to HAND OVER RECEIPTS of that to the authorities, act as witnesses etc and just be there for YD/TK in general (help with child care etc.) Then there is granny, the real mvp atm. I believe that she will secretly support the leads for the next two eps at the very least before switching to openly. I am not sure how ttalgi is discovered to be BN, but maybe it will be mere circumstance or magical plot item like a 🍓 handkerchief or something (worked in Once Again after all lol) I kinda think the leads will help her here and discovery will not be a few more episodes to come, but will be shocking to everyone. However it will positively influence the relationship between granny and the leads and particularly TK and her, cementing them as her favorites forever.

Granny will also be the one that uncovers the schemes of delulu debbie, or what leads to it. Hell our old girl does not trust this asscramp at all and throws all the shade at her, so this gonna be fun to see. Just when is the question here tbh.

YD/TK gonna marry. That is, so far, nothing surprising here, but i actually think they are gonna gunshot it in order to protect Haneul legally with perhaps registering their marriage before any official ceremony. While they missed the window to make TK the legal father by about a year (welp), YD being married to TK will kinda speedrun the inevitable custody battle in her favor. Or rather put the automatic fail hex on the pile of shit that calls himself fAtHEr. For then she has a stable, big enough home, good environment, loving and supportive husband with a very good job and even a better income (she can work from home with the essay corrections etc) Perfect condition to raise a kid in, So yeah, if they wing it with simply going to the district office one morning and then go surprise we are married on their fams, or if they cook this up as a counterplan together with the gongs giving permission, remains to be seen. I would prefer the first one, just to see Howler Monkey's and bullshit fairy's faces hahahahahaha. Or actually there is a third option, which i hope would be going like this:

CM Gong "I think we can all agree would be for the best in the interest of the child if you both immediately get married. We can hold the ceremony at a later point.

Gong ghouls: With how it is written right now, it needs a shift in power balance for them to accept YD again. Hence 🍓 I do think a lot of these hypocrites are no longer hypocriting, at laest, but howler monkey who treats her like voldemort (like literally do not say her name in this house), remains the biggest problem. I have mentioned it before but she has completely taken on joseon granny's legacy as in, becoming what granny had been in the first episodes of the show personality wise. Cold and calculating, selfish to the max (what about meeeee) and ruling with an iron fist, controlling everything/one. She has regressed while granny evolved seeing how hostility doesn't serve anyone, least of all herself. She already adores YD and Haneul, but once it is clear that they are her (grand)grand children she thought she would never get to see... ohhh gosh, the lovebombing will never stop (but in the most positive non-manipulative way, that is) She is gonna adore the shit out of them and do everything to ensure she is safe.

Patrick is, well, still dumb with trusting this stomach ulcer of a secretary, but he has actually turned out to be a reasonable elder, so he is gonna welcome his one and only niece with open arms. He'd always reserved a soft spot for her and has always been the one genuinely worrying about TK during the year instead to make his hurt about himself like his frikkin wife. His kids will follow suit, (JM and CM) because they are stupid opportunists and do what is best for them to be in daddy's graces and YM... well i actually don't care about her anymore, lmao. She is a hypocrite so she will probs be like yay YD welcome back cousin, as though nothing ever happened. HW is super fair weather friend or otherwise, and a wimp, so he will do whatever his wife does. Leaves only howling monkey. Well, she is gonna die on that hill for several more episodes i think, growing more and more isolated in her resentment as loyalties shift once more. Since bloodlines are so important with these vampires, and all. I actually want now happy fam reunion time with momzilla bitterly looking on from a distance hahahaha, bc fuck her.

Oh and also they will hire 40 lawyers from hell and one whole man disposal service to hound JH as much as he did with Yeondoo, in order to protect her and Haneul. In this case, wealthy fam is a good thing and needed to put him in his place. And while he is rich himself, he has no support system, no family to back him up on anything. So yeeeeeeah. He will regret the day he was born and decided to mess with granny's most ever favoritist grandchild. Unless there is that certain magical makjang twist giving reason to the unexplainable facial similarities of Haneul to TK's he may be confirmed as dna giver, but fail epically in court (see the 40 lawyers from hell mentioned above) So it amounts to nothing and i also would love to see even his visitation rights voided due to his complete unhinged behavior toward YD. TLDR: Yeondoo keeps the sole custody of Haneul he challenged, the court tells JH to fuck off and never return, lol. As what he will do afterwards is unclear bc as a complete narcissist turned psycho he will see this as humilation and maybe escalate further bc this creep does not know the existence of common sense. If we are going off the wall here, maybe a kidnapping even, bc it was never about the child... it was always having power about YD, to intimidate her into doing his psychotic bidding of gEtTinG bAcK tOgeThEr no matter what YD thinks about it, aka her CONTINUOUS REFUSAL.

Delulu Debbie: Oh she is in for the worst time of her life, alone through the fact that YD is back and BACK TOGETHER and living with Taekyung, heading for legal marriage. And then seeing her becoming a legit fam member thru 🍓 that she can't do shit about HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Granny also will totally rat her out and she may lose her job and then her sanity, leading to a physical confrontation No not hairpulling, actually trying to get YD out of the way, like permanently. YD may be saved by JH doing one good thing in his life: DYING in her stead. It is a two for one buffet of getting rid of delusional assholes. I hope YD/TK send her a wedding invite with RSVP request to jail/mental ward fully knowing she will be unable to attend. I know i would.

I wish i could care any longer about DW/YM but i don't so whatever happens happens with them. Good fucking luck, they will need it for this uphill battle in regards their fams.I am here for SK bonding with her birth mother, tho. As for DW, he is adopted into oh fam, but since it is such a stigma particularly 25 yrs ago, BN never talked about it to anyone. But he is in fact the twin brother of Yay. Thus YM/DW are thankfully not sweet alabama-ing it with each other lmao.

Not sure if there is romance still to be had between BN and Jangho since the writer seemed to have timeskipped their way out of it. But we will see. It will definitely further complicate the family tree already full of mites and burning but hey it is not as though queen of shits will be around to see it, so yeah.

I guess this is all? We will see how many shots into the dark hit, well, anything. But since this show made the curve back into somewhat structured storytelling, this is what my writer-brain tells me about its further narrative heh. But lets see what the 1000 monkeys with their 1000 typewriters have for us in store, this weekend and the ones beyond lol.

Has viki shat the bed for everyone or just me? Wanted to check something in a trhc episode but nope lawl, does not work the whole day already (on desktop/PC)

1) This is basically korean soap opera. Depending on whether or not you have watched family dramas before, you have to expect a different narrative structure and pacing to the regular kdrama shows. However, the writer here does not drag conflicts out and makes characters actually communicate with each other in a sensible fashion. Well, most of the time, anyway. Nonetheless there are over the top situations such as hairpulling, screeching, crying, scheming, manipulative villains (SFL/Joseon Granny) etc all the overt nonsense you find in a makjang. Just roll with it. It also settles down tonally into softer melo later on. Stages and sets are pretty olden days (well, okay ugly) since family dramas have lower production quality and budget than regular glamorous kdrama. Plus appealing to the nostalgic factor for the often middle-aged korean viewers tuning in, I guess)

2) Characters evolve more slowly but realistically, into a good and bad direction than in regular kdrama, due to the screentime and larger amount of eps available. This also means they are all at their worst selves at the start of the drama. The ML now is a fully other person than he was at the start, same for FL's family, for example. You have to have patience with a LOT of them, but the payoff will be worth it.

3) It is day to day storytelling. Meaning little time passes in all the episodes. We accompany the characters through each continuous day/night cycle, see what they are doing each day. Keep this in mind when wondering why the leads act like strangers around each other at times. Because they literally are. From the moment of their cohabitation and start of contract to ML's confession only three weeks have passed in the story, even though these are 10 eps to watch for you (after the first 10, setting it all up.) Hence why the romance feels starting late between the leads, but it is actually happening fast. Their romance arc has only started now (eps 20 and up,) with a lot of hindrances still in their way, of course. (if you like the male chasing female first trope, oh gosh you are right here, because does ML Taekyung ever deliver on that with a golden retriever-like eagerness, lol) There will be a timeskip in the mid-thirty episodes that basically resets everything, lol. You will see what i mean, but buckle up for it.

4) Do not get worked up by asshole characters too much or you will have a very bad time. It is best if you see Joseon Granny and SFL for the clowns they actually are and never take them too seriously. They are cartoonish/over the top mustache-twirling for exactly that reason. But in truth they are just narrative tools to create conflict and in SFL's case bring the leads (closer) together. Without them, the leads would have never met, as FL would have married her then bf and ML would have stayed a forever bachelor estranged to his family. There would be no story. So keep this in mind whenever they are clowning on your screen with their kindergarten lvl of schemes and being shitty ppl, heh. Granny also has the best character development in the arc, so later on you ask yourself how you could have ever hated her haha. Gotta say SML iss complete trash from start to finish and has even now turned into a creepy stalker hounding FL to "get back together." so fair warning about this sack of shit.

5) You will like some characters more than others and that is okay. Try not to get hung up on their scenes, because each of them gets their share of screentime to advance their respective arcs. Just roll with it or fold laundry during it or something haha. Your opinion and lvl of care on/about them could change over the long course of the story as they develop as characters.

No prob, have also my survival guide for weekenders, trhc edition. Is not up to date anymore bc the show briefly ramps up its melo and craziness during the mid-thirty episodes but has now found a rhythm again that makes me not scream on the inside lol

depends how familiar you are with the structure and pace of weekend dramas, because this one is more on the advanced level i would say lol
