Dating coach is just another job to sell people on stuff. Many people can't, but you gotta separate the real person…
Yeah i expect a messy episode 4 in regards of her breakup affecting her job, after seeing the preview. The fallout of it all, even professionally, is imminent 😬
Replying to Vincenzo Cassano Apr 20, 2023
Hidden gem. Loved it, but ML cried too often. A man can cry, just not that much, at least not in front of women.
Not only is his self-worth crushed and he suffers anxiety attacks, he is also depressed. Like not a little sad or so, but full on depression. What you have seen there is actually a very accurate depiction of the mental illness (at least one form of it,bc there are also the ones where you are too numb to cry/feel at all. Hah, fun times... not.)

RIP to the these people who expected Bora to handle her breakup well, just because she is a famous dating coach giving out relationship advice.

Like, just because this is her job, doesn't mean she can deal with her own breakup poorly. It is in fact, expected, because emotional distance or lack of it is a thing, people. So when giving out advice to random strangers as her job requires, while being emphatic and listening, it does not concern her at all personally. It is easy to do. But it is a fully disparate matter when the one cheating on you, treating you poorly etc is your own longterm partner. Because here you are neckdeep involved in a highly emotional upsetting and soul-crushing experience. Hence why all good advice she ever knew and gave out goes out the window, bc this is a situation where it is highly unlikely to react with distance to this matter in any way shape or form that "living and applying her own advice" would require.

Ngl, i am glad her reaction and overall breakup was so messy and with regrets of what she should have said or done instead in that situation later on. Because it is way more realistic this way to yell at each other next to a garbage pile/truck than directly after meeting up in a cafe and discuss the in-and-outs of her relationship and its failings. Especially after finding out what she did about her boyfriend, on top of all the probably months-long cheating. That is for later, once the feelings on her part are more detached and the hurt is dulled. Or even for never because sometimes just cutting off contact after a messy breakup is the way to go. Needless to say, i really loved the episode, because wow, for a supposed "quirky romcom" the writers keeping it damn real here in regard of breakups and its ugly painful aftermath.

... and the homophobic "haha look at this stupid, super stereotypical gay character, let's ridicule him for it"…
Wow, someone is bothered, lol. Enough to instead to reply here instead to ignore it and go about your day. Which obviously would have been the better choice here. Well, you can't win them all, i guess.

The episode was so heartbreaking and funny at the same time that I replayed the garbage truck scene so many times.
these poor workers didn't get paid enough to deal with this shit tbh 😂

Lee Soo Hyuk is such a mood at the start of episode 3 whenever i watch kdrama. The way he watches and comments inwardly on the scene, hahaha, bless

All the acting chops in episode 6, aaaaall of them, the full range. Super impressed, ngl
haha, glad i could help 😁. Honestly this drama is my fave out of the quite the few sageuks that have aired or are airing lately. It has well done story beats, shifts in tone (from humorous to serious and back) good character development and a cute romance in progress. Plus Do Hwan's acting is really a joy to watch. Story with the revenge main plot and the different cases linking back to main plot is well done, imo.

I watch a loooot atm, probably more than i should lol.

Airing Kdramas:
Dr. Cha
Bo Ra Deborah
Stealer: The Treasure Keeper
this drama here, of course :D
The Real Has Come
The Secret Romantic Guesthouse
Next Week: Dr. Romantic 3

Older Kdrama:
Dr. Romantic 2 (gotta finish before season 3, lol)
The Fiery Priest (slow watch, probably gonna put on hold for a bit in favor of the above drama. Could not get into it yet either)
You Raise Me Up (has just 8 eps, good for in between)
I am kinda tempted to pick up Five Enough as a slow watch, but it is a family drama and thus 54 eps which is a bit much now considering my already long list, haha. Maybe in a bit tho, since i quite enjoy the inanities in TRHC rn )
On Dr. Romantic Season 2 Apr 19, 2023
So two eps in and ngl, i am not a fan of how they set up the exact same character type with ML/FL like in season one. Aka FL is incompetent, and constantly failing because a psychological issue reducing her to a wimping heap each time (how tf did she manage to become a SURGICAL doctor with her extreme phobia with blood? The hell? and ML starts out as an ambitious/money-hungry ass with a tragic background (tm) like KD in season one.

I knooooow they gonna learn and grow that is the point like it was in season 1, but would it have been so hard to switch up the roles between them? it feels like a complete repetition of season 1 rn. Really really tired to see the female lead always being and starting as the utter incompetent, weak and whimpering one... why can't she not start out as the ambitious one and ml the one struggling to perform in the OR? Ugh.

Yeah it is really a long running time of this drama indeed. Either way, good luck for you for the finals then. Hope all goes well :)

Oh, thanks for the c-drama recs here btw. I am trying to watch more of them in between my long list of k-dramas here and there. So i am gonna check them out :)

A lot of those are genre mixes of sorts since pure romcoms very often fail to hold my attention all the way through…
Aww. You are welcome 😘 It is a very sweet drama, yes. As said it has been a while since I watched it last but I really liked it. I can also recommend My Holo Love and Are You Human Too, if you want to watch something similar (tech/AI themed) AYHT is even full on robot romance but quite sweet too and they really make it work, haha.

Oh, this it is not really a ranked list but what came to mind first lol. I have a lot of fondness for I'm not a robot as it was one of my first shows watched. Need to rewatched it one of these days as I have forgotten a lot about it tho. Happy the list helps tho 😊

50 episodes??👀 Uhmm.. and why is the video so… idk weird?
It is a weekend dramas or family drama, the ones that air two times (afaik) a year, each with around 50 eps. Not to be confused with the daily drama which has 100 eps or more tho. The production value is quite lower than your average weekly kdrama in its sets, clothing etc. The story itself is soap-y and even more full of tropes/cliches than regular kdrama with situations dialed up to eleven (makjang)

Basically a weekend drama is a korean soap opera with the focus on stories around family. Imo, it is a popcorn worthy show/fun watch so far, u just need to roll with its chaos/insanity and not think too hard about it :D

Other shows of the same kind are My Father Is Strange, Five Enough, Once Again, It Is Beautiful Now, My Golden Life etc

why isn't this season on Netflix?
it is a viki/viu exclusive. Could change in the future (when netflix is shelling out enough monies i guess)

do you have any rom-com recs?
A lot of those are genre mixes of sorts since pure romcoms very often fail to hold my attention all the way through but I loved:

Crazy Love (enemies to lovers done right/hilariously w/ a lotta irony/fourth wall breaking)
Mr. Queen (ditto. yes it is a romcom with emphasis on the COM and no you cannot convince me otherwise haha.)
-Thirty But Seventeen (the most wholesome kdrama ever),
Dali and The Cocky Prince (+1 for THEM <3)
- Love To Hate You (very bingeable brain off-ish drama, tbh)
Gaus Electronics, Welcome to Waikiki (both of them more comedy but also with a wholesome romance subplot)
-From Now On Showtime (if you like it mixed with fantasy and ghostly shenanigans and love conquers all theme)
- Romance Is A Bonus Book (friends to lovers <3 basically the grown up version of WLFKBS)
- Salon De Nabi (more slice of life, but has a cute slowburn endearingly awkward romance subplot)
- I Picked Up A Star On The Road (just roll with it, lmao)
-Sh**ting Stars (pure enemies to lover chaos set in the showbiz, and then surprisingly wholesome romance)
- Extraordinary You (Haruuuuuyaaa. 😢 never forget heh)
- The Forbidden Marriage (sageuk, except when it is not, or rather runs away with it, lol)
-The Law Cafe (longtime friends (one sided) secret crush develops to mature and communicative romance amidst their usual chaos
-Weightlifting Fairy (okay probably superfluous to mention here but w/e xD)
-Shopping King Louie (also older, but cute)
-I Am Not A Robot

after finishing Tomorrow this weekend I wanted something similar and found this drama. Starting it tonight and…
Very worth watching, slow start but it picks up and is one of my faves now :D If you want something in the same vein after MPUB still, I can also recommend From Now On Showtime (same writer and vibes/themes, if a bit more comedic/lighter) and May I Help You if you want something supernatural-ish and more somber like MPUB.
