If the writer has planned for 50 eps which is very likely as news of extension comes late, the last eps will probably re-written to leave room for a nice sendoff/epilogue in the extended eps. It gives room for the writer for a possible timeskip and a window into the characters lives then as we say goodbye to them.

Family dramas are always filmed and produced and (re)written as they go, parallel to its airing. Meaning while we watch 36/37 they are currently filming 38/39 which is stressful for cast and crew but allows for changes on the fly to include domestic viewer receptions/reactions. However what happens if a writer is ONLY writing for the viewers or rather for ratings (shock value) has been shown with the incoherent trainwreck that was TRHC, so the screenwriter (team) does well to have a plan laid out till the end. And while i am not privvy to broad korean opinions about the show from what i gathered from the little i read in the official forum and Youtube it is rather well-received as it is rn, especially the main couple (Hajun/Uee) is beloved. So they are doing things right, which also reflects in the increased ratings tbh.

Also the way TM appears uninvited at Hyoshim's doorstep late at night like a stalker and then just starts monologuing his sob story at her for several minutes whether she wants to hear it or not, is just peak Taemin, gotta say 😂 Made a meme regarding that:

Hyosung is now fully team taeho and he found out who is behind it somewhat but lacks evidence. Oppa/Hyung nim is on the case tho to save his sister's bf and more than a little also himself since the lapdog barked at eerrrr fired/threatened him. (hence giving away that it all was a ploy) Young dude has cooked the books but brazingly denies it. Hope he goes to jail along with the others for that. Asshole. Hyosung has started to look for director park. Wild card is activated.

The demons celebrate their victory prematurely which always turns out so well for ppl doing so in family dramas, you know?

hyojun being a complete, drunk loser at the opening party, spilling all the beans about Mirim and their night, which no one of everyone present will let him never ever forget, hopefully 🤣

The opening party was surprisingly wholesome with the whole fam meeting for the first time and it bringing a sense of community of older weekender for a few minutes... until HJ crashed it, literally.

Hyoshim is understandably desperate after the news but still becoming a lioness to defend her man toward TM stalking the entrance of her home.... TWICE in one episode. And she is like "talk to the back of my hand dude bc i am leaving now, when he is trying to monologue his sobstory (of being all alone now not just TH, and all that is left is the woman I love now) at her too 🤣 Duuuuude, this is so uncomfy and pathetic. She has a bf and man in her heart that is not you and never will be you. You get to be inlaws of sorts tho so yay? 😂

-As said above TM being the most gullible gulliver that has breathed air, shooketh by the fact told by his sis that gasp his mother is not a good person. “What do you mean our mother is a liar and a vile, disgusting piece of trash human? WHO COULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT????? Gremlin is wearing the coat gifted by TH throughout the eps and after HJ incident is like... date who you want idc anymore xD Her cafe is well received and frequented which unexpected but nice.

-No Mirim but atp i have stopped caring about their romance, it is just not... romancing. Still i wonder how she is gonna be brought back into the show. TH lawyer? Pregnant? 🤔

Granny clearly has cooked up a plan together with TH before he went into jail, as he is coming face to face with the same prosecutor he played golf with and offers him a deal to go after the big fishes, instead. Which is to be expected since TH would not be doing business as usual with knowing how slushy that fund is.

- Preview has a tearful reunion of our lovebird and current jailbird and HS declaring she wants to marry TH now. Well not now now, but more an info about her being ready to acquire TH as her husband haha. He also tells his wifey that she should keep his grandmother, aka the rooftop lady, company :D

Hmm not my fave but plot-wise it moved a lot of things along. I put the gist of it under spoilers so you don't need to stress about the show while enjoying your soju party haha (it does taste like rubbing alcohol imo xD)

When your sister that lived on the street eating leftovers from garbage bins is smarter than you, a supposed keen business man and vice president of a conglomerate multi billion company, and she shades you for it💀🤣

Like you are free to feel sorry for TM of course, but i am just here cackling in disbelief at how naive a single human can be. The sky is the limit here for TM, it seems. Like, how can you live for nearly 40 yrs on this very earth and around your dearest mother and never ever pick up on, um, maybe her not being a good person? Srsly, five seconds are enough for establishing that even if she puts on a show of niceness, because she is fake as hell. So tbh, here is where LYOL loses me a bit bc i cannot fathom someone being THIS blind to everything around themselves happening for decades, but their meeting was still comedy gold ngl 😂

Close, haha. They actually start dating in 26 which has several cute scenes w Taeho being peak golden retriever lol. But take your time with it haha, there are still a couple of weeks left after all and unlike in The Trainwreck Has Come marriage of the leads is never a question of if, but when. Like TH being so ready to marry her and become a/her husband from day one basically is never failing to amuse me 😂 And the preview sharing is appreciated, i have been slacking off doing so tbh, whoops.

I liked my demon till halfway through then it became repetitive and annoying tbh due to story being too thin for 16 eps, but ymmv. (it is especially disappointing to me, given the screenwriter is the same one from my all time fave Mr. Queen) I hope you enjoy it tho :D

Oh i will definitely skip the next weekender, too. Even with the script not being a mess in the hands of THAT writer, there is not much interesting me and i am not a fan of FL actress either tbh.

Lol, i told ya they are using the "throw a timeline at the wall and see what sticks" approach which is why i decided, especially with weekenders, to just go with the flow and not worry about dates or other pesky details anymore. And here i have fun with that approach, bc you only frustrate yourself if you analyze every detail too much tbh😆

i love all the things that are happening and the way the writer addresses it. LYOL is so fun to watch by now with a great story pace and only minor frustrations left. (And hey we do get to see the baddies punished for once in a weekender, it seems)

well she is protecting the children 😁 It is just the children she means are Hyoshim and Taeho in this case, because she sprang to action right after getting to know HS is dating her grandson, and she is very fond of them both. She seems to have distanced herself from TM for now and imo for good reason, giving his closeness to his criminal parents. It is not sure if she can trust him in this case atm, soooo yeah, no surprise here actually and makes sense to me. And if i were TH i wouldn't tell him the whereabouts of grandma either, tbh. Not after he covered up her imprisonment in the villa.

And i doubt it comes to that tbh, but dude needed a rude wakeup call (which came really laaaaaaate too) bc how blind and gullible can you be in regard of your own parents? JFC. He makes stupid choices and then complains/wonders why his life is miserable. Or better said he crucifies himself and then complains why no one comes to see him hanging on said cross 😂 🙄

(Which is exactly why i fail to see him as a tragic character or feel sorry for him. It is the lack of any self awareness for me, i.e. being unaware how he got to the point where he is now, tbh) Hence time to course correct now or sink along with those criminal people who have been dragging him down all along and played him as a pawn without him ever noticing a thing.

Nah you've got that right. They were depending on her instead the other way around. It is just that HS could not say no and feared to let them down to her own detriment mentally and financially. Aka, she was being too nice for too long and gaslit into believing that providing for them is her only purpose for all her life. A vicious circle. Never underestimate the devaluing and manipulation the gremlin has done with HS over the years (that oscar worthy crocodile tears woe is meeee sobbing, telling her how ugly she is and no one would want her anyway etc) and the effects it had on HS. Hence it needed an outside person, in this case TH, to help her getting out of a toxic structure that seemed inescapable. But it seemed inescapable bc that was all she knew of life and has been made believe to her that it would never change... until Taeho, that is.

Hence why it was no co-dependency from HS' side and calling it that is mislabeling the abuse she has endured over the decades. She simply needed a person in her corner who offered her a fresh perspective on what is normal and what is not (and the way she lived and was treated was decidedly not) Someone who believed in her abilities and made her see and believe in her own capabilities as well, so she could break free from the cycle of abuse and being used without any validation or appreciation in her life for doing so.

Gremlin however is/has been completely co-dependent on her daughter (while now finding first steps out of it) for her own financial and emotional wellbeing. Which is why she was so keen about keeping her small as it kept her close and under her control. And it also explained the complete meltdown she had when HS broke free and moved out as all the control and financial security she had over and with her daughter was now suddenly gone. That Hyoshim is healthy mentally and can assert herself etc, showed in the time after her moving out and finding into her own, with how she finally put down boundaries with her mother, brothers and niece. That it all happened together with her bf Taeho at her side (figuratively) has nothing to do with co-dependency whatsoever and to me it seems like people just like to throw buzzwords around to appear smart without actually knowing or caring for their meaning, lol.

Or did i miss the parts where he dragged her around, held her hand throughout of any of her confrontations with family or otherwise and whispered the words in her ears to say like grima wormtongue did in LOTR? Lmao, plsssss, gurl did this all on her own like the grown ass adult she is. She simply needed someone believing in her and make her see that she can do so. And that is called emotional support, not co-dependency btw, just to be fully clear.

That reminds me.... A huuuuuuge pet peeve i have in general (no one here tho, just need a space to rant for a bit as it is topic appropriate) is people out there conflating Hyoshim's relationship with Taeho being the same toxic one she has had with her mother. Aka her "having changed one co-dependency for the next" or other shit i had the misfortune to read with my own eyeballs. I mean whatever makes you feel better and justified to hate on Taeho, i guess lmao, but that is actually so not what is actually happening in the show. Choosing to be with TH was an active choice she made for herself back in Eps 25, so i think it is about time to move on from that warped mindset and deal with it. (Like you might have seen him saying back then that if she does not come to him he'll leave for the us as an "ultimatum to pressure her" or some bs, but TH was actually leaving the decision to appear or not fully to her.... which she did. Hence his tears of relief. It is that simple) HS chose to be with TH and also chose him over her job at PT fitness because she loves and wants to be with him, and that is the end of it. It is why she also did not tell him about it, because she did not want him to meddle with waving his status over them and deal with it on her own. But between her job that already lost importance due to her new career path taken and the man she loves (yes, LOVES, just because she is shy with affections doesn't mean she doesn't love him) it was never a question what she is gonna pick here.

And absolutely nothing of it has anything to do with "her switching out one co-dependency for another" but it's about giving the character agency and respecting her wishes and paths taken which includes TH being an important part of the life she picked bc she feels accepted, supported and loved by him. Thus her wanting to be and spend time with him is the most natural thing and does not need to be, nor should be twisted and morphed into something "problematic" or "manipulative" that it is absolutely NOT.

Please repeat along with me. Independence does not mean having to be or remain all alone, nor on her own only. Independence means living the life of your/her own choosing instead one that HAS BEEN CHOSEN FOR you. To pick and surround yourself with people you want to be in your life. And thus her deciding now to marry TH and then eventually live together with him as a married couple instead of her own is also part of that. Nothing of it takes away from her individuality, personhood or agency because no one is forcing her into that path.

ooookay haven't watched yet but alone from the preview it is clear that it all has been a ruse to lure the demon in a trap. Aka a double trap with TH going into custody and grandma and TH indeed had a backup plan. Aka knitting granny/badass b will reveal everything on TVLive lol. And with the reveal of Myunghee being alive by Taehee who remembered granny exists after 25 eps (too late) it seems TM stops being a blind idiotic puppet at last and help out on the right side of things, finally. Meaning Hyodo was actually useful for once in being a disgusting golddigger seeking out TM. Also HS probs having seen how miserable life is w/o him, wants to marry TH now 🎉TM is asking TH where Grandma hides but understandably he won't tell the dude but he tells his wifey that Myunghee is his grandma and HS and her hug in the preview <3

hmm tried that with three different browsers, disconnecting and reconnecting vpn but always get the "The requested video cannot be played temporarily" error, no matter what. And it doesn't seem to be on the surfshark's vpn's end bc it recognizes "me being in SK", since i don't get the "this program is only watchable in SK" error with the suiting server. But even if that were the case, other streaming sites like this one here https://live-tv-channels.org/livetv/kr-kbs-2-tv.html should be able to play the stream then from its source, but it doesn't work either, at all (Neither KBS II nor KBS2 work)

I CAN watch KBS news and the KBS drama channels without probs tho, on the latter ironically airs the rerun of last weeks' episodes rn 🤣 (which also means my vpn works as it should)

You know i actually thought it would be more about the time travel and how they live their year instead of it just being an one episode premise for a serial killer case of batshit crazy whodunnit with leads last people standing horror movie kinda vibe. It was actually a wild enjoyable rollercoaster until the last few episodes where it took an inane turn and turn and turn and never stopped spinning in its absurd plot twists for the plot twists sake anymore that the rollercoaster derailed and crashed in flames down a cliff. While i could not roll my eyes fast enough to spin along with all the waaaaaay too makjang-y events on screen happening. Characters acted all idiotic (save for the leads) believing everything they were told, and against their own interest with zero self preservation skills whatsoever as they walked alone outside at night with a serial killer at large. Because this is what you do when you know you are dead-flagged of course :)

Like, there is a limit how ridiculous you can get with a story and its twists, even when the genre is fantasy/Sci fi. Or at least there should have been, since it would have been more believable and better constructed and not something from drawn from a cheap kbs daily drama plot-wise employing shocking twists for shock value only to construct a "tune in next" cliffhanger, logically held together by little more than spit and ductape. Sadly it had a sore lack of a white truck of doom trope for several of these assholes within here that should have met the fate to make it actually entertaining. The leads were cute tho and actually smart, for once. Which sadly is a rarity in the thriller kdrama genre. I liked it till halfway through since i could not figure out why and where and who but then it started to get veeeeery nonsensical and goofy. Could not take it seriously, which is actually not a good hallmark for a thriller that tried to be all that it its tone. Resounding meeeeh. Even the mutt was stupid/useless and a brat (causing an accident as it ran away) 6/10

Oh, LYOL is really fun to watch by now and the story built up well. It just gets unjustifiably a bad rep due to the two trainwrecks of TRHC and this one here sandwiching it, I feel. Unfortunately KBS livestream still ain't working (the official one, with SK vpn) so i won't be liveblogging LYOL. Will post some yt clips later then on twitter tho, i think :D
