Latest episode reminds me of the burning sun scandal which make it even more interesting
well it *is* the fictionalized version of it... (hopefully) including a much better punishment for the gross assholes responsible than whatever that mild shit was in reality.

I think the YLAG writers had a bet to see how many amnesia plots they could mix into one drama. This writer seems…
Writer: *slaps The Real Has Come script* This badboi can hold so many pregnancy subplots.

😂

FL be like: You must abandon me. But also, the person I love is you.CP: FFFFFFFYea, like hell he'll abandon her…
😂 😂 😂

(at least he can stop now being jealous of himself tho 🤣)

well that parents apologizing if the son/daughter is lacking and it being their fault" is a cultural thing, i am afraid. And he is unaware that his daughter lied to him, hence why he apologized for "her flaw" to ML. Which was good in a way as it only uncovered more of her lies made to ML.

I do hope he'll wise up a little regarding his horrible daughter/wife and loses his rose-colored view of them over the course of the drama. He was however the only one not being shitty to FL during her interview (for being pregnant/single mother) so there is that. (a low bar to cross, but given all the other judgemental assholes in this show it is still too high up for many)

tbf, outside of crazy love (where it was lampshaded) last year i have not seen the amnesia subplot being used in kdramas. Seems to be more a thing of the past or of family/daily dramas tbh haha

Yep. You explained it perfectly 👏

Welp. At least the long arc of Hwan being jealous of himself is now over? Trying to look at the bright side here…
i like to switch it up when the pic starts to bore me haha.

The current one is from Taxi Driver Season 2, where do ki and Go Eun faked to be a married couple in order to infiltrate the baddies of the eps. I love the show with its action, comedy and chaotic found (taxi) family. The way they serve justice is sooo good and often even too funny and poetic, lol. Definitely lighter than grimdark season one.

Title Road Home

I honestly paused this drama after eps 16 and will wait till the ending episode is posted to catch up. Doesn't mean i am not 👀 at the spoilers, lol. But it had been too stressful to wait for single episodes lately for me. (I do the same with TD2, as both are suspenseful shows and thus weeklong cliffhanger not good for my poor heart haha)

Title Our Blooming Youth Spoiler
this twitter thread encapsulates perfectly why i love the romance the way it is and why it would have not worked…
i've got to hand it to the writers for a love story w/ a fine balance btwn subtlety, gentility, class, decorum, deep respect & love between friends & between a man & a woman, patience & restraint, befitting the stature of nobility. We've been waiting for the confession & at least a kiss between Hwan & Jae Yi BUT we have to remember, that Hwan is an honourable & a deeply principled man. His BFF is engaged to the woman he fell in love with so it's improper if the moment Jae Yi told him how she feels, they immediately become intimate & exchange kisses. Both of them feel bad for essentially breaking Sung-on's heart although it's not their intention but that's what happened. So, since they are both kind-hearted, compassionate, empathetic & principled human beings, they need to clear the air with Sung-on BEFORE they can move forward with their mutual feelings for each other. That's the PROPER way to start.

Hwan knows first hand how devoted Sung-on is to Jae Yi when he refused to burn the marriage consent even after JY went missing w/ the vile accusations of infidelity. So Hwan can't just trample all over SO's heart & claim JY for himself. We have to remind ourselves that this is a sageuk, during the Joseon period (in the 15th century), not the 21st century. Things were different then esp when it comes to how men & women are supposed to behave in public esp among the nobility. Remember how outraged Hwan was w/ JY's suggestion that a man & a woman need to hold hands & kiss before marriage bc he said it can't happen unless the world is coming to an end? That's Hwan being a noble, principled & respectful man. Add to Hwan's innate sense of right and wrong is the complication of two men who are best friends (Hwan & SO) liking the same woman & what's worse is the fact that 1 of the men is engaged to that woman. So it stands to reason that. .that this love story is not the usual, run-of-the-mill 'man meets woman, they fell in love & live happily ever after'. The writers need to allow for a respectful, proper & best way to untangle the mess of BFFs in love w/ the same woman.

Park Hyung Sik said in the Viki interview that this drama is "the one & only" by which he explained that it's different from any other sageuks we've watched before & now I'm beginning to see what he meant. The story of love. The story of love between loyal friends & between a man & a woman. Hwan & Sung-on love each other as best friends & thus their behavior towards each other after finding out they love the same woman reflects that. Then the love between a man & a woman - Hwan & Jae Yi - who came together under unusual circumstances esp since she's engaged to Hwan's BFF. So the writers can't write a simple love story without making Hwan & Jae Yi seem heartless to SO. And so here we are. 19 out of 20 episodes & what have we got? A confession & subtle looks between Hwan & Jae Yi. That's it. Which is, considering the circumstances, fitting & makes for an even more beautiful love story, at least to me.😉

Less is more. I've always loved that adage & I think the writers have the same idea when writing Hwan's & Jae Yi's love story. Oh I'm sure we'll get a kiss in ep 20 but bc it's been a long time coming, it'll be even more meaningful. 🤗 The fact that Hwan & Jae Yi have had to endure a long & heartbreaking wait to come together w/ truly free hearts & minds AFTER they clear the air w/ SO, should result in an even more beautiful & heartfelt kiss to seal their love.🥰 And so I'm waiting to see what ep 20 will bring us. I hope to be right & Hwan's & Jae Yi's FIRST KISS will be as beautiful & heartwarming as I'd hoped. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a little more than a peck...ehem...😉😂💋

this twitter thread encapsulates perfectly why i love the romance the way it is and why it would have not worked another way with how the characters are written and the plot is set up, (Because while this is a fictional (not based on true events) historical story, this is one of the more serious, politicky sageuk's, and not a lighthearted comedy like TFM or so recently.)

he is so good a scene stealer in everything. you gotta see him in my country the new age if you can handle lots…
Yeah unfortunately his selection of works and my selection of dramas to watch not did not cross path till now, which is a pity. I missed out on an excellent actor, but most of his projects are sadly not my cup of tea. I had planned to watch My Country TNA, bc i love Yang Sejong's acting (so do hwan is nice bonus then), but i reeeeeally need to be in the right mindset to watch a sad sad sageuk, or drama in general. (Also why i have yet to watch the red sleeve tbh whoops) The less is said about The Eternal Monarch, the better tbh 💀 Tho i can see myself watching it as a trashy just roll with it drama for the lulz someday. Maaaaaaybeeeeee (bc lee min ho as ml is not really enticing me either whoops,)
On Joseon Attorney: A Morality Apr 10, 2023
It is my first time watching Do Hwan in a role and i honestly love the energy, cheekiness and charm he brings to his character and the delivery of his lines. Without that charisma, i think it would have been hard to sell the character as a ML with all the shady stuff he is doing lol.

Yeeeeeah, tis weird. Especially since the drama never pretends to be anything else than a full-fledged melodrama. It has been consistent with its tone and themes from the get go. The leads ain't your typical happy kdrama smiley pair either, and that for very good well-laid out plot reasons. I highly doubt anyone would run around grinning if they were in their shoes, tbh.

i sure hope you are right. It would seriously sour me on this show otherwise, bc so much would become pointless and just "suffer for the point of suffering" instead of... progressing and growing beyond it as it should be the goal of a well-told/built story arc.

I haven't started this yet, but 50 1hr+ episodes??? I swear- if someone cracks their head and ends up with amnesia,…
it is pretty fast-paced till now. Meaning the conflicts are not dragged out for 15 eps or more, but solved in the same or next episode. The leads seem to be good in communication too about issues instead to bottle everything up and avoid conflict. Hope that lasts till the end even tho i doubt it, lol.

But yeah it is the first family drama i follow and i pretty much just roll with its overdramatic antics and happenstances (while skipping some too annoying parts/characters) I think that attitude is needed in order to be able to enjoy it haha
