She rather be the head of eunuch by the Kingβs side than marriedβ¦. This girl ππI kind of think that…
He was definitely testing the waters to see how she feels about the sergeant and very pleased with her plan to stay at his side forever instead. Hwan, your (unrealized) crush is showing π€
I could not continue this after 5 eps....I think the pacing was off, when I expected something to be explained…
well that is what the On Hold list is there for after all. I have also my share of kdramas i parked there because i have only limited amount of time and spoons for watching a certain number of shows. Or i put them on hold because my attention is pulled elsewhere,. Or it is not the right kdrama for my current mood. No harm in parking some shows there to revisit them at a later point. And tbh the first eps of this drama were also hard for me to go through, but it is worth sticking to it, or at least it was for me :)
watching welcome 2 life atm and i had to pause and check bc someone looked very familiar... and yeah it is/was indeed the actor who plays Dong Hee here Ofc, he plays a shady ass character in that drama too π€
It's funny because many commenters were complaining the romance was going too fast, and there I was thinking,…
Yeeeeah, exactly. As i said before, Hwan crushing on Min Jae Yi early on meant nothing, bc a) he is not even aware of his feelings yet (but he expressed the wish to have her by her side today, so yay for miniscule progress lol) and b) we have had to build a foundation fiirst and giving this guy some character development in order for the romance to... make sense.
Hence, as you said it so fittingly, the smoke has long since billowed but now we can also (start to) enjoy the fire with that now done, haha. And while the pace can be glacial at times, we have 20 eps after all, so the focus on character and relationship foundation before anything else deeper is happening is truly appreciated. It makes what is to come (hopefully soon, lol) more rewarding π
It is a slow burn story indeed haha. But i really appreciate the steady character development of Hwan we are seeing now coming to fruition. Just hope we get some crumbs at least in regard of the main leads' romance in tomorrow's episode bc there was nothing today. I so enjoy the team investigating and bantering together tho and Hwan truly had his moment to shine at the end of the episode. So i don't mind its lack overly much... yet π After all this show is quite character-driven, so it fits how they focus on the chars/their development instead atm (with the usual corrupt/power-hungry family clan vying for the throne sageuk subplot ofc)
i thought about how it's a bit sad seeing some call the ml weak or dumb β i get it's the impression he might…
Thank you, you said perfectly what has been bothering me. It is sadly not the first time i see this lack of empathy or even mere understanding of mental illness, trauma and the like in a mdl comment section, and sadly it won't be the last time. (it is giving me major war flashbacks to the May I Help You comment section where ppl kept failing to understand ML and how unprocessed trauma/guilt about (spoilery) past events held him hostage and colored all of his actions/inactions/avoidance, which was super frustrating)
Hence why it never fails to anger me when people call characters struggling with trauma/ptsd/mental health issues stupid/dumb/passive/cowardly/weak etc just because they can't possibly imagine how it is to have to live and go about your day while struggling with all of these mental/emotional/trauma demons. Which, as said, yay great for you, as i wish this on nobody, but geez, at least *try* to have a shred of empathy and put yourself in their shoes? Should really not THIS hard to do, ffs.
I'm told My Mister has a similar vibe but I couldn't really get into it.
I have not watched my mister but i have yet to like ANY work of this writer, so i have really little to no motivation to try this one lol. This writer has a talent to create absolute asshole characters without trying, i give her that tho lmao Sadly not the fun kind either. (oh "another miss oh", i will never forget you due to that π π π)
can anyone recommend any kdramas that are just like this , melo but heart racing. I can only find just between…
May I Help You deals with some heavy themes (trauma, death, grief, loss of loved ones, guilt) under a deceptively light/comedic facade, but the romance is cute and very healthy (no breakup, exeptionally good communication during conflicts between the leads, emotional and mutual support all the way thru all the many obstacles they face) It is however not the main focus to the end, the healing/moving on and their mutual support for each other during it part of the plot is.

started this bc i needed a change of genre and having finished eps 1 i am cackling. Wow, this is a drama on crack,…
- A tragic backstory for ML(tm) - A feud between Junior doc (FL) and intern (ML) that turned from enemies to lovers real quick - A supposed funny montage of intern getting bullied by said junior doc Two near deaths with dramatic medical scenes, including last minute life saving and ML insta falling in love with FL -FL getting reprimanded for daring to act as she thought best which saved a critical patient's life, but okay ML pouncing on FL, kissing her which turns into a mutual makeout scene in the resting room at the end of their shift ML meets FL again, has zero chill and confessing his love to her, including telling her that he wants to sleep with her, twice -FL meeting up with her actual bf in his car and getting proposed to Not so white truck of death, critically injuring them on impact - dramatic scene of FL getting rolled into and treated in the hospital while her doctor bf is seemingly fine - a nurse disproportionately upset at the ring on FL's finger - ML finding her bf arguing in the basement with that nurse - Turns out bf cheated on FL with that nurse. - ML is pissed about this discovery and storms away with FL's bf falling unconscious behind him. Nurse is hysterically crying, while ML rushes to help him. Turns out, he died and FL is devastated, so she leaves the hospital to go hiking on her own in the mountains with her arm still broken (what ????) - FL trips and after dramatically rolling down a leafy hill has injured her leg and cant get back up, starts sobbing and later on passes out in the woods, all alone. Last thought was about ML, not her dead bf (lol) She is found by the other, older ML who was in ML's backstory as a doc. Full circle.
Yes, this all happens in ONE episode. You can't make this shit up. My head is still spinning π
started this bc i needed a change of genre and having finished eps 1 i am cackling. Wow, this is a drama on crack, like there is SO MUCH happening in one single episode that i swing between laughing about it and getting whiplash at all the kdrama tropes getting thrown at me AT ONCE. From 1 to 1000000 in minutes with no brakes or chills whatsoever. Feels like i have seen the content of 15 eps in one. Like just in the starting episode we had:
I loved this show up until those last few eps. So many things felt rushed and some plot points felt like they…
Yep, for me by far the biggest flaw this show has had. The whole "criticizing the korean school system pressure etc element could have been written in a much better, tighter and coherent way without this stupid murder subplot that took TOO MUCH time away from other, more important and interesting topics/plots and, worst of all, amounted to nothing in the end.
At least they took time for a satisfactory ending, but i really did not enjoy the past 5 or so eps anymore for a lot of reasons. And ofc the stupid murder plot is the biggest one. Hence it stays for me at solid 8/10 one time watch for me instead to become a fave i would rewatch further down the line (like with Crazy Love for example)
When they marry again they have 2 kids again but I don't remember the kids names from the beginning so hard to…
Oh yeah, i saw that when i finished the drama a couple of months back heh. Glad they came back tbh, but this was the one part i liked way more in GBC. They really brushed off the loss of their kids too easily/much that it was jarring. Otherwise i really enjoyed this drama way more than the other show tbh. Also thanks for your reply nonetheless even tho i found out not much later about it myself, heh.

Two near deaths with dramatic medical scenes, including last minute life saving and ML insta falling in love with FL

ML pouncing on FL, kissing her which turns into a mutual makeout scene in the resting room
at the end of their shift ML meets FL again, has zero chill and confessing his love to her, including telling her that he wants to sleep with her, twice
-FL meeting up with her actual bf in his car and getting proposed to
Not so white truck of death, critically injuring them on impact
- dramatic scene of FL getting rolled into and treated in the hospital while her doctor bf is seemingly fine
- a nurse disproportionately upset at the ring on FL's finger
- ML finding her bf arguing in the basement with that nurse
- Turns out bf cheated on FL with that nurse.
- ML is pissed about this discovery and storms away with FL's bf falling unconscious behind him. Nurse is hysterically crying, while ML rushes to help him.
