After completing the webtoon I realised that everything except the past life thing, is the same as any typical…
Yeah I don't expect the story to be innovative tbh. It will be more a case of what script/directing/acting makes out of what they are given than a groundbreaking new story. As long it is entertaining I don't mind the tropes, depends more on how well everything fits together tbh.
Glad to hear. I hope they will treat him muuuuch better than the shit mountain of an agency did (pun intended 😏) and he gets good offers and opportunities thru them.
i just started to watch the new episode but omg, she dance-waltzed into the elevator which did not only things to Joon Ho's heart watching her, I swear😭😭😭 (I love small details like that <3)
Starting to watch this despite all the negative reviews. Also what are some good kdramas airing now? Already watching…
Ongoing dramas i like: Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Alchemy Of Souls, Link and this one here.
Personal all time faves i can rec: Mr. Queen, From Now On Showtime (finished airing just a month ago and the drama has same writer as Mystic Pop Up Bar), Our Beloved Summer, Crazy Love, Hotel Del Luna, Dali And The Cocky Prince, Vincenzo, Thirty But Seventeen and Mystic Pop Up Bar :D
lol I'm at ep 5, but I just don't get it. Isn't Soo Kwang supposed to be poor? How come did he manage to give…
Two words: Product Placement. Thus any sense or character coherence of being poor goes out of the window. Plus in kdramaland you probably get one free to your morning coffee/sándwich order at subways, as long Samsung pays enough for it to be shown, lmao.
If you like your reincarnation theme/tropes in a less serious, more lighter, comedy romcom wrap up with some splashes…
Oh checking your watchlist i noticed you already have seen FNOS and MPUB, whoops. Good taste tho, hehe. Maybe Tomorrow and TOTNT could be then something for ya then.
Really good drama. I like the reincarnations and I am searching for similar dramas. If anyone got some, tell me.
If you like your reincarnation theme/tropes in a less serious, more lighter, comedy romcom wrap up with some splashes of angst and creepy supernatural stuff in between, and a lot of lovable/quirky character mayhem, give From Now On Showtime a go. There is also Tomorrow and Mystic Pop Up Bar, which are also a good choice into that direction. Tale of the Nine-tailed is has a little more horror elements, but is still light/romcom-y like with reincarnation being a major plot point.
FL has a crush on her sunbae cop/childhood friend since a decade before ML even comes into the picture. Her crush…
Heh, no problem. The leads are basically the personified idiots in love trope, where each of them wrongly thinks the other would never like them in this way xD Hence why it is a slow burn romance as both are very inexperienced in love/being in love and thus it takes them a looong while to recognize it while they are going at all length for each other as "partners." Which also makes it so endearing in a way, imo. (Plus the whole crush thing of Seulhae being an obstacle at first, of course)
will the romance be like witch's court? No romance tag, no heavy romantic scene but implied?
It has the stumble/fall and ML catching her and both intensively stare at each other move in the next episode, and in the last episode we actually had a "ML too stunned by FL's beauty to speak" scene, so you can bet ur ass it will have romance, haahahaha. While it may not be a focus it will most likely be part of the story :D
Almost 10 eps in and i feel like minus 1500 sympathy for the brother. Like he was a cute kid but he grew up a monster and even the drama's blatant attempt to make me care about him in showing me 50 shades of sobstory with his abandonment issues and such, i don't and won't. I hate those "cool motive, still murder" types of characters tbh, they are unredeemable in my eyes. I JUST DON'T CAAAAAARE for his reasons to murder people, there are NEVER good reasons for it no matter his bg, so stop trying to force me to empathize, drama (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
If you're tired of all the things you mentioned then it might just not be for you. I gave the show a 9 because…
While it is true that FNOS does not invent the wheel anew, it does not try to either and is very comfortable and self-aware in its identity as supernatural comedy romance drama, and its tropes. Plus it does blend all these tropes and themes together into a well-balanced genre mix, and imo executes them better than in any of the dramas you mentioned. It has its own charm and a lot of heart/warmth in its writing.
Besides it is much closer to Mystic Pop Up Bar than these other shows, which makes sense seeing they both have the same lead writer. (So if you watched/liked MPUB you will feel at home here.) For me it was the characters, acting (PHJ first and foremost). and trademark quirkiness (of characters/situations/humor) of this writer that drew me in and let me stay, the whole Ensemble is lovable and their parts, no matter how big/small, excellently acted, imo.
Also the romance. dynamic and development of the main leads is done well in a slow, sensible manner that it does not feel rushed or forced, which was another thing that let me stick around. As said they communicate well with each other, don't draw out conflicts or misunderstanding with each other any longer than needs to be. Regarding this, i would recommend to stick around till the end of episode 6, where you get the full bg of both leads as this was the point where it "clicked" for me with this drama and i went from casual watching to "can't wait for the next eps." You will then have a much better idea of its format and structure too than after just two episodes. If you still are bored and/or unable to see the show as its own thing after eps 6, well, i guess this drama ain't for you, which is a pity but it happens, heh.
I heard there is a love triangle in this one. how much screen time does it get. i wish there wasn't any love triangle…
FL has a crush on her sunbae cop/childhood friend since a decade before ML even comes into the picture. Her crush is pretty one-sided as SML keeps her at arms length and only gets jealous the more ML is in the picture. (he is one of these "i enjoy her attention but never do anything about it. No other guy can have her tho - types, ugh) Even as her crush persists for a while, you see her attention and affection slowly but surely shifting to ML as the story goes on. (ML falls first and haaaaard btw, while being one of the "No I am not in love/conceal don't feel" types of characters, of course haha)
Either way, it is not an overt love triangle and more in the bg (it is not part of every episode). Mostly used to make ML pout like the giant baby and adorable dork he is, haha. Also SML never stands a chance when he eventually deigns to act on it, bc there is a large difference between a mere teenage crush and the true "destined to be" love ML/FL have, heh. You will see what i mean ;) Overall the LT lasts until eps. 8-9 where it in those is more part of the story, but gets also resolved during those eps. Hope this helps <3
