Love your takeaway from these dramas! Indeed toxic behaviors and damaged people in dramas can give us a lot of teachable moments. I think when these aspects are written well, it enhances the value of the drama, even if they're not likable aspects. I appreciate your breakdown of the good and the bad of each of the three dramas. Although I never finished, I've only seen New Tales of Gisaeng and it has been a long time since that one came out.
This is definitely one of those articles where it will be bookmarked and I'll have to come back and reference it as I watch through the novoland dramas and movies! Thank you for providing the information!
Definitely interesting to see a more informative article on MDL and about North Korea's film industry! My only disappointment with this article is that the information given from Mr Schönherr's experience is quite dated (the 2000s). Would have liked some more recent insights on how the North Korean film industry is like today. Will definitely check out the extra links provided at the end to see if my questions will be answered. Thank you guys for the article!
Absolutely enjoyed this read! I've strayed away from Taiwanese drama since the first set of Taiwanese dramas you mentioned. I got back in (and really late) with Someday or One Day earlier this year and I was stunned at how much it changed and how it moved me. I haven't seen the other 3 on this list but I definitely will add it to my list since I've been needing some good recommendations for Taiwanese dramas! So, thank you!
I initially wasn't going to comment because it'll sound negative/like I'm against her. I'm not sure if I understood…
Obviously, there is a lot more involved in this issue that we weren't aware of, and the people involved could have done better to help resolve the issue. I just think people are empathetic and compassionate beings. If she were to tell the truth, even if it was her being immature, people would probably still support her anyways. I believe that it was her intent behind riding on being the victim that was the issue. So I disagree that she didn't hurt someone emotionally because this did emotionally hurt a lot of people involved. It doesn't matter if she wasn't the was who bullied/made threats, how she handled the situation just says a lot about her as a person. But aside from all of that, thank you for the response, it made your stance more clear
Honestly speaking, and from what I know which is very little (knowing that a lot of people would disagree), I…

I agree with you that she's one of the better idols turned actresses. She's great at doing what she does onscreen. I don't believe in cancel culture in general, I personally feel like it's toxic. I'm the person who gives people the benefit of the doubt and second chances if they seem like they deserve it. I don't hate her but I can see why people dislike her.
I think why many people and fans got so upset with Hwayoung is because of how she seemed to just sweep everything under the rug because she was able to get away with it. She didn't seem apologetic about her wrongdoings as it took her 5 years to admit to some of the claims. She ruined the career of 6 people and broke the heart of many people that were close to them as they struggled. Bullying isn't okay and it shouldn't be deemed as something in the past. People should own up to their mistakes and really understand what is wrong. If her situation was revealed in 2021, she would've been burned on the stake as we see many actors and idols are dealing with it nowadays.
I love the use of actual landscape instead of the usual green screen but the style it has been filmed in and some…
Haven't started it but looking at all the clips it does remind of 2000s martial arts dramas. Which is interesting to see nowadays with the current style of standards when it comes aesthetics. It does seem like this was filmed in 2017 as well (could be wrong) so that may be why things look a bit more outdated then recently filmed martial arts dramas. Or the intention of this drama was to make it look old school. Whatever the reason, I still think it's looks pretty cool.
I think the editing was a lot better in this cdrama compared to others I've seen. In some others I've literally…
After completing the show, the editing did slightly improve but I agree that there are other shows that have done it worst. Choppy editing will always downgrade the viewing experience. It sounds even worse in high budget productions too!
Does this drama span for a short period of time. I mean in the synopsis it is said that the leads met during an…
The synopsis doesn't really do a good job at describing the story. To answer your direct question though, the earthquake is only part of the storyline and the drama timeframe expands further than that. Hopefully that helped! :)
My opinion wont matter but im just gonna say this ...The dramas has moments that makes u feel like ur brain shuts…
Most definitely agree with your opinion and opinions are welcomed in my area! While I enjoy this drama for certain parts of it, I wouldn't say it's a drama that would rank super high up there on my list either. The flaws that you mentioned do bother me quite a bit more than I want it to. I think amongst its currently airing competitors, it definitely stands out and gives me good vibes though.
While you guys are skipping the surgery scenes or action scenes.. I skip during Xing Keyao and Director Shao's…
haha I actually enjoy the surgery and action scenes compared to the 2nd and 3rd couple scenes. At my current ep, the 2nd leads are too frustrating and the 3rd lead could do better. Director Shao and Keyao are more mature and already have a romantic history, their story could have been written better to be interesting. However it seems like the side couples just need to learn from the 1st leads and just TALK!
Terrific article. I love the main couple (I first saw her in Love Me If You Dare, and I loved her there). I SOOO…
I felt the exactly same way with the medical scenes but I feel like it could be difference in production that I'm not used to. Cause dramas throughout countries have the same kind of dramatic stuff as well? At least that was how I justified it XD
I'm a romance junkie too that's why I had to point out some of the negative parts.
