Just why is MDL so insistent on uploading the worst pics for all the actors/actresses? He's way more suave and good-looking than that profile pic which makes him look like a charismatic serial killer LMAO
You seem to know a lot about Kurosawa, I just watched Dreams. What films of his would you recommend that I watch?
I wouldn't say I know a lot about Kurosawa but yes, I am a big fan and love all his works.
You can start with these :) Rashomon Seven Samurai Ikiru Ran Red Beard Stray Dog High and Low The Bad Sleep Well Yojimbo Throne of Blood
I'm so sorry I wanted to list just 5 but then I couldn't stop typing lol. Honestly all his movies are worth a watch. I don't think he made a single bad movie. You could start with the first one if you don't know which to pick. The movies can be found on the site I listed in spoiler above.
Firstly, welcome back Narimiya Hiroki. You were missed. I am glad you still have it in you.Secondly, there is…
The fact that she was able to carry the baby and walk with her head upright after all that happened instead of retreating back into her shell or trying to kill herself clearly showed her strength and growth despite her love for him. So I disagree with people who say that she remained weak till the end.
This is a dark romance cum thriller. My 2 cents - Not trying to justify the ML or criminals, but go visit a prison during the weekend and you'll see how many prisoners (in for killing, rape etc) have a whole family visiting them. The crime a person does has nothing to do with love at all. Love was never virtous or noble to begin with. Humans are capable of loving the worst of humans and vice versa. The fact that she was able to carry the baby and walk with her head upright after all that happened instead of retreating back into her shell or trying to kill herself clearly showed her strength and growth despite her love for him.
Anybody with the questions "how can she still love him despite..." Not trying to justify the ML or criminals, but just a reality check- Go visit a prison during the weekend and you'll see how many prisoners (in for killing, rape etc) have a whole family visiting them. The crime a person does has nothing to do with love at all. Love was never virtous or noble to begin with. Humans are capable of loving the worst of humans and vice versa. This is not a moral story / social drama. It is a dark romance/thriller, so don't look for the "right" ending.
Nahh this isn't for me. It was too superficial for me to take it seriously. The concept IMO deserved a much more serious approach to make it impactful. Dropped at E6.
i truly understand where mio is coming from and why she acted like that, but as a viewer i was also wishing for…
I actually enjoyed this more than Flower of Evil, because it was dark, unlike Flower of Evil that played it safe. Anyway I won't compare the two because they're very different dramas. I loved the ending because it isn't about giving a moral lesson to anyone or discrediting victims. It is simply a dark romance where she surrendered herself to him (the title is apt - dead or love). She chose him, and she would choose him again and again. Part of it was his control, but the other part of it was that regardless, she found her home in him. He saved her, and he made her feel loved each day. I don't think the writer wanted the viewer to empathize with him at all, which is why you see his side of the story being contrasted with the present day where he kills. She loved him, and hung on to him, but she also did stab him. That for me showed her growth and her love both. She acknowledged his wrong, but what's that got to do with love? Tons of prisoners have wives and children visiting them every weekend. Love isn't as noble or sweet as romcoms want us to believe. People are capable of loving the worst of humans. The fact that she was able to carry the baby and walk with her head upright after all that happened and not retreat back into her shell or kill herself clearly showed her strength and growth despite her love for him.
What made this short of being great for me was that till the end, I couldn't tell if he loved her or not. That was the conflict which if fleshed out well would have made the ending more impactful. But then maybe that was the point because the emphasis was always more on her love and his control.
Firstly, welcome back Narimiya Hiroki. You were missed. I am glad you still have it in you.
Secondly, there is some amount of gore in this, so stay away if you can't see stuff like someone's eyes being stabbed, or toenails being bitten off etc.
Thirdly, WTF WAS THE FIRST PART OF THE LAST EPISODE?! Great action scenes and acting but I had to suspend disbelief with the way certain characters just wouldn't die despite all the injuries. Was the writer high?! Great way to ruin an otherwise decent drama.
All in all, the potential was definitely there but it fell short of being great. I found the story and concept compelling; 'loving' (if that's even the right word) someone to the end of the world, regardless of everything. The title is pretty apt. Both leads were clearly mentally ill. I understood her surrender, and his control but his feelings towards her wasn't fleshed out well enough and that made the amazing ending less impactful than the writer probably intended. I wish it was an episode or 2 longer. It was an enjoyable dark romance with growth for the FL (see spoiler), but it isn't for everyone, especially not for a moral audience or an audience used to watching perfect love stories.
Another one of those dramas only Japan could make. Like most people commented, this caught me by surprise with how weirdly wholesome it was. The leads were truly couple goals. Loved it from start to the end, though i wish this was longer. Special mention for the way they filmed the sex scenes - so unique, and fun.
P.S I really want to know what her scent was that made him so crazy LOL
Highly recommend it :)
People really under-estimate the importance of paying taxes.
Would love to hear your thoughts if you get around to watching any of these.

It wasn't perfect, but it delivered as a dark romance cum thriller.
So I disagree with people who say that she remained weak till the end.

This! I highly recommend it :)
The screenwriter has also written and directed some nice stuff which makes me excited

Congratulations to both of them <333
